  1. There is no way for dispatchers to obtain tag or driver's license info via NCIC. NCIC is maintained by the FBI and is for the sharing of info between agencies such as persons wanted on a felony warrant, missing or endangered people, those with gang affiliations, stolen vehicles/guns/boats, etc. There are a total of 19 different files within NCIC and none of them are for finding out who owns a car or the status of their DL.
  2. The only thing Peyton could teach Tebow is how to read defenses, but they have coaches for that. He can't help him with throwing motion, release, etc, because Tebow is not that type of QB. He's a tight end that they let play QB.
  3. Tebow is not a long term NFL QB. His skill set is not a fit for that position. Peyton gives the Broncos a better chance at a Super Bowl and will give Denver a chance to draft a pro style QB and develop him. Tebow will go to Jacksonville but won't be there very long.
  4. When I was a Deputy down in Florida our dispatchers would run the tag we gave them and then immediately run the DL of the registered owner. They were fast enough at it that they would have all of that info before we even got out of our car. After we got MDT in our cars we could do the same thing simply by clicking a button beside the registered owner's name.
  5. Very tragic event and prayers go out for the SFC's family.
  6. ^^^ This! I'm a former LEO. If an officer charges anyone for this then it is because they are already under arrest for something else and the officer is stacking charges OR an investigative unit (narc, homicide, robbery) has asked the officer to detain someone till they can get there to talk with them and this was the only thing the officer could come up with on the spur of the moment.
  7. The CBS Sunday Morning Show will feature a story on Glock. It'll be interesting to watch and see how they present the story.
  8. The author of that book will be on the CBS Sunday Morning Show tomorrow. They are doing a story on Glock and it will be interesting to see what their spin will be.
  9. OS added #5 so I'll add #6 & 7: #6- some clerks are gun owners/shooters/former military and they don't ask because they know what type of guns the ammo is for. #7- (related to #2) they don't care because they don't think its not anyones business why you are buying the ammo and what you plan to shoot it out of, so long as you are old enough to buy it.
  10. I built mine and the tools cost no where near $100. Also, I used the step by step guide I printed from AR15.com. AR's are so easy to build that I think you'd be better off investing that $750 in some top shelf parts.
  11. I hate when a gun shop employee gives you their opinion about a particular firearm, without being asked to do so. For example, customer walks in and ask if they carry brand X. Shop employee says no and then offers, "we see nothing but problems with them so we don't carry it". The only shop I have ever heard this was in Arms Fair.
  12. Thats the best thing to do. Shop around and make your own decisions. Happy hunting!
  13. With the advent of the internet and the wealth of info about the NFA I really don't need Arms Fair.
  14. I've been in Classic Arms a few times since I moved to the area. Never have purchased anything, mostly because nothing caught my eye and partly because they never acknowledged me being there. Maybe I caught them during a bad time each time I went. I'm certainly not going back there and therefore won't be spending any money there. I've used Arms Fair twice to handle transfers. The first time it went really smooth and they were very friendly. The owner even invited me out to MSSA to shoot clays. The second time it was much different. I even thought they had been purchased by a new owner. I understand that they would rather sell me a firearm than handle a transfer, but don't offer the service and then get snippy about it. Guns & Ammo has a lot to choose from but their service is sometimes lacking. I did purchase my 1911 there but it was the price that brought me in. G&A is great if you know what you want and are ready to buy. I wish Sportsman Warehouse was still here. I just don't like being in a car long enough to drive to Southaven. Bass Pro is a pain to get to and will be worse if they ever move to the pyramid.
  15. He's the guy that totes a shotgun and hunts for Bugs Bunny.
  16. Except that we don't have a Sportsmans Warehouse here anymore.
  17. What is the max blade length that is legal?
  18. As a LEO I've searched tons of homes, businesses, automobiles without a warrant. They were all legal searches.
  19. You correct in a sense. For years we were allowed to search "incident to arrest" without a warrant. This ruling came from New York v. Belton. Belton was arrested and the police searched the car he was riding in. Many years later the SCOTUS heard Arizona v. Grant. In that case they ruled that police can search incident to arrest so long as what they are searching for relates to the original offense. For example- Grant was arrested for a traffic offense and police searched his vehicle. They found drugs and he was charged for those as well.Police should have only been searching for things related to the traffic offense. Many times have I been searching a home or vehicle and found something unrelated. We would immediately stop, seal the area and apply for a search warrant. That is the best thing to do if prudent to do so. In your example searching a file folder of a person arrested for dealing in stolen property would not be too much of a stretch. Searching his cellphone may be. The court would have to rule on that at a suppression hearing or on appeal.
  20. I wasn't calling him a law abiding citizen. I was making the point that when Atta handed his boarding pass to the gate agent he appeared to be just some normal guy getting on a flight. This was in response to the poster commenting on the over reaching authority of the TSA.
  21. Unfortunately the term "law abiding citizens" was a lot less defined after 9/11. Mohammed Atta was law abiding right up to the point he stormed the cockpit and took control of an airliner.
  22. He's got a 100% chance of beating Naifeh since Naifeh announced he is not seeking re-election.....
