Miami to use license plate scanners Memorial Day weekend
CQB Elite replied to mcurrier's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I'm a former LEO and if this crap were to happen to me I'd tell the officer that I ain't his momma so it ain't my job to make him feel better. He needs to get his panties out of a wad cause I ain't giving consent to search nothing.....Also, he'd better give me dang good reason for stopping me without a violation. -

I guess it is a matter of perspective. I can see how some people would be concerned about our gov't tracking our movements and activities. I currently live in the Memphis area so my #1 concern is with the people that I come into contact with on a daily basis. Now, if I were ever to move to Idaho and become Randy Weaver's neighbor I may be more concerned with our gov't and its' acttivities. -

The City of Tampa, FL, installed cameras throughout Ybor City years ago. They use facial recognition software to scan the crowds of people that come to party there. The toll booths on the Florida Turnpike film cars that travel thru. Both are the same principal as what Miami is doing. IIRC you don't have a reasonable expectation of privacy in public places so your rights are not being trampled upon. Its the world we live in, get use to it. -
Squaring up an AR-15 upper

I feel your pain! Its also easier to fly the parts in under my wife's radar if I do them a little at a time..... -
Watched the final round and was so pumped that he won. Bubba is from Milton, FL, and I was a deputy sheriff there. Boo Weekley was another decent golfer from that area. Bubba had an average drive of 315 yards so you know he can smack a tee shot!

I've been looking at the Daniel Defense barrels and haven't really thought about Noveske. My rifle is pretty much Frankensteined- have Noveske upper/lower, DD LPK, Magpul grip and stock, Spike's mil-spec buffer tube, BCM BCG and charging handle. Had to take a break for a while and now its time for front end stuff. Want to get it finished really bad. -

Great post! I only have 1 question- will you do this to the upper on my build? Just kidding! I'm building an AR using a Noveske stripped upper/lower set. I've been looking for a barrel and won't be long till I'm ready to put one on. There's no way I have the technical expertise to do this to my receiver but it was an interesting read! -
Its hard for me take the creator of the "Fat Albert Show" serious in this type of discussion. Same goes for Gopher from "The Love Boat.....

Don't think this is how the "stand your ground law" works
CQB Elite replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Each situation is different from the next so you can't compare them. This is especially true in use of deadly force cases. Imagine you are sitting on a jury in the trial of a 32 year old construction worker who got in a fight with a 19 year old kid and ended up shooting & killing him. The defendant is 6'2" and weighs 225 lbs. He's in very good physical shape. The 19 year old is 5'11"/185 lbs. The trial starts and thru testimony you learn the "victim" had earned a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and was in the U.S. Navy and a recent graduate of BUD/S and therefore in fantastic physical shape.... You got to hear all of the story before making a decision. I guess in theory LEO's should be held to a different standard because of their training, but not all LEO's are trained to the same level. They are trained to the basic minimum but often its up to them to seek training beyond that. In my case- I wanted to become a firearms and vehicle operations instructor. I also wanted to be able to teach in the academy. To be able to do this I had to take a 80 hr instructor techniques course followed by a 44 hour firearms & a 40 hr driving instructor course. I also did a lot of shooting each month. Others I worked with came and did their quarterly qualifications and that was it. Their weapon was never fired outside of that. In my mind I consider all LEO's to be not much more than any other citizen, that is until I get to know them and their background. -

I don't know. What I can tell you is I did spend a lot of time helping adults solve their problems. Problems that some of the time didn't involve any violations of criminal statutes or county ordinances. We could sit on a front porch for an entire month and me tell you boring stories about some of these but I'd rather hear you tell me about your time playing in some rough joints. I did once go to a ladies house because her neighbor's cat was using her dirt driveway as a potty and she wanted me to tell the cat owner to stop. I asked her if she had gone over to the neighbor's house and talked with her herself. She hadn't.... Another time a lady wanted me to make her 12 year old daughter go to school...... -

There's a certain element in our society that wants nothing to do with the police what-so-ever. That element doesn't call 911. I'd always get a little chuckle when I'd respond to a call to someone needing the police and then find out they have an outstanding arrest warrant on them. I'd always finish with their call and then say, "Oh, by the way......". -
That girl is one bad a**! I think her character will grow into a leader.

You can rest assured that Crump will file a civil suit against Zimmerman (and Sanford PD and the State Attorney and the State of FL) for violation of T's rights. For heavens sake he got Gov. Charlie Crist to sign a dad-gum $1 Million check made out to Martin Lee Anderson's parents for wrongful death and the kid died of sickle-cell trait! The more people get worked up over this and the more FREE press that Crump gets, the better. They might need a Publisher's Clearing House sized check just to hold all the zeros for the settlement.... But I still imagine that there are some who still believe Z is a child murdering racists and that all others want Z to be innocent so that we can murder people that scare us..... -

Last week I read an article online via the Kansas City news. In the story Crump stated that he learned his lesson in the Anderson case because he did not get the media involved early enough. That right there tells more than a million words. -

Its their attorney that is fueling this. He also represented the family of Martin Lee Anderson who died in 2006 while incarcerated at the Bay County Sheriff's Office Boot Camp down in Florida. The attorney specializes in civil rights suits. http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Journalism/2012/04/02/Trayvon-Martin-Case-Repeats-2006-Playbook-for-Martin-Lee-Anderson -

I'm the self appointed Admiral of my neighborhood watch. I have a uniform that sort of looks like the one that Napoleon Bonaparte wore. I stand on my deck and scan the horizon for pirates and others who wish to do me harm. I don't actually pursue them, I simply call in the Marines.... -

That sentence makes absolutely no sense. Maybe it doesn't read the way you intended it to. Maybe it does. Zimmerman followed someone he thought suspicious who was wandering about the neighborhood. He had no prior knowledge of who this person was or exactly what he was up to. Zimmerman's behavior was not that of someone who is "scared". Scared people sit in their homes with the blinds closed and the TV up loud. Scared people do not follow a suspicious person to find out what they are doing or where they are going. -
Welcome and glad to have you here!

The conviction rate in her circuit is way up but its mostly juvenile minority males that she is locking up. Thats why the NAACP and SLC are not happy about her appointment to this case. She has no high profile cases, except Christian Fernandez. That case is not high profile for what Fernandez did, but for the fact that he was 12 years old and Corey charged him as an adult. IMHO- I imagine she hopes the Zimmerman case will draw the heat off of her from the Fernandez case. Had she been the prosecutor in the Ted Bundy or Danny Rolling cases I'd be more confident in her skills. Even Marsha Clark was considered tough- right up to the second she asked OJ to try on the glove. I don't know why you are even still spending time in this thread. I figured you'd rather spend your time buying a hoodie, Skittles and tea and getting your favorite chair ready to watch that child murdering Zimmerman on trial.... -

Lester, Great comment on your observation of the neighborhood. There is a trend in S. Florida of taking older apartment complexes, remodeling them and selling the units as "condos". In fact this is what happened to the apartment complex in Sunrise (Ft. Lauderdale) we lived in while I was working out of the Miami Field Office. The complex was small enough that we knew when a strange vehicle or person was on property. The property was gated and had a privacy fence around all but the canal side. -

Bravo! It benefits the poster argument if he leaves steps out or ASSUMES other parts.
