That ain't right.....
2. Would be an awesome story, if its true.
3. "I've always felt a strong connection to the Ninja"- Willie Robertson, Duck Commander
4. I think we settled on Space Shuttle Door Gunner/Scuba Ninjas
5. You're right! How dare I take our off topic topic further off topic! I'm still sticking with Ninjas....
6. What about Aliens vs Predators? Personally I think they are the same thing but with a very different skill set.
7. I wonder what the failure rate is for the Q School?
8. We don't know if they have a Navy or not, well- simply because they are Ninjas.
9. You'd learn more from playing COD for 5 minutes than you would by taking all of Yeager's classes.
10. Well, I hope you never become a victim of a crime because you'll look silly calling the police to come help......
11. How did this thread go from talking about Yeager being called a coward to hating on 1911's? I've owned a wide variety of pistols and carried Glock on duty. I'm very happy with the .40 S&W round and carry my G23 daily. I also have no problem strapping on my 1911. I trust that it will go bang. The US military used the 1911 right up to 1985. They only went to the 9mm due to it being readily available on the battlefield. I bet you can find special operations units using the 1911 today. That says a lot to me. BTW, Larry Vickers teaches a 1911 Operator course. If he bothers to teach this class then he must see a place in combat/defense for the 1911. IMHO- Vickers is 1,000 times more credible as a trainer than Yeager. Back to Yeager.
12. In the first few days of my police academy we watched a video containing dash-cam footage of the murder of a Texas DPS officer. Some of you may have seen the same footage. The veteran officer stopped a car occupied by 3 illegals. He decided to have them stand on the shoulder of the road while he searched their car. They jumped him and they all ended up falling in a ditch. They took his weapon away from and shot him dead. I believe most would agree that he made a tragic tactical error. Now I will admit that a HCP holder MAY be the last person that will pull a gun and shoot an officer, but I ain't 100% sure. There are a lot of factors that go into the decision to disarm. Training, experience, location, time of day, proximity of backup officers, actions or lack of by the HCP, etc. I'm well trained and very comfortable with a wide variety of firearms. I feel far safer with them in my possession than in someone else's. It only takes one time making the wrong decision before you find yourself shot dead......in a ditch........
13. Ouch! Did you stitch it yourself at home or did you get a doc just out of med school? Just kidding! Hope it heals quick and you are back to cutting open newspapers soon!
14. StG 44! One of my favorite weapons from WWII and father to the AK-47. They'll let her sell it and probably some gun shop will buy it and put it in their rental case. That'd be a crying shame!
15. Beautiful pistol! Been wanting one of those myself. Be sure to give us a range report when you get a chance.
16.
TCA 39-17-1351t While it is true we're violating the law even with a permit (which is another topic that we should be pushing for a single word change in the TCA from defense to exception), this law drastically limits the ability for the officer to disarm a permit holder, compared to a non-permit holder found with a loaded firearm. So, explain to me how an officer reasonably believes it is necessary to disarm every permit holder they come across? Unless the officer has that reasonable belief every time they disarm a permit holder, they are acting unlawfully. I contend that departments who have a policy to always disarm permit holders are acting unlawfully, and most likely officers who disarm all permit holders are likely acting unlawfully as well. But, you'll notice there is no criminal penalty for violating 39-17-1351t, which is part of the problem. Just another question to the OP, was this a federal park ranger? Or a state ranger? I'd be curious if they are somehow cross certified as TN law enforcement officers, because if they aren't (federal park rangers), then they would appear not to be covered by 39-17-1351t.
It's all about being able to define "reasonable fear" in court. I can sit on the stand and produce 100s of cases where LEOs were shot and killed. I can testify that I had a reasonable fear that that gun COULD kill me. No court in the land will disagree with how "I" perceived the situation.
17.
Law enforcement officers have the legal authority to disarm a HCP holder during a traffic stop. Got it. Here's what I don't understand: if an officer thinks the lawfully armed citizen is enough of a threat to prefer disarming him, why doesn't the officer actually treat him like a threat? (call for back up, take cover, weapon drawn and aimed at center of mass, short verbal commands clearly shouted, etc) If I were in the officer's shoes and were concerned about somebody shooting me, I can't imagine climbing into a stranger's car by myself to grab the handgun off his hip. I guess I'm just not that brave.
Yea! And the officer should fire 3 or 4 warning shots to let the permit holder know he means business....... (this bit of sarcasm was provided and no charge). Keeping the situation calm is important. No sense in ramping up tensions by calling in reinforcements or pointing your weapon at someone.
18.
Sounds like he was professinal. That said, he has no reason, nor right to disarm anyone who is in legal possession of a handgun with an HCP. If he conducted a search due to probable cause, and you didn't have an HCP then yes. He is a public servant, not an overlord or sheepdog. Sorry for the rant, it just gets on my nerves that any police officer thinks hes safer by disarming the man who openly discloses that he has a weapon and an hcp. The guy whos gonna shoot him at a trarfic stop isn't gonna tell him he has the gun beforehand.
From reading this post I can tell two things: 1) You've never been the police 2) You know far less about the laws and our legal system than you think you do
19.
Gruden, Gruden, Gruden! Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
Gruden is smarter than that. The situation would have to be perfect to attract him away from his current gig. UT is far from perfect. They need to find an interim coach that can get them above .500 in order to attract a top tier coach.
20.
After watching the clinic that Yeldon and Lacy put on last night I'm excited to see that matchup with our front 7. I'm also excited to see how well ND's backs and QB can run on Bama. There were a few times last night that I thought GA could have moved the chains with a mobile QB. No kidding though, Cooper is a beast! He worries me against our cornerbacks. All that talk about Lee from usc being the best receiver ND would see is a lie, Cooper is the real deal!
And Cooper is a TRUE Freshman! That's some scary talent. RTR!
21. Thanks for the replies. I bought a barrel and a DD Lite rail 10.0 for my build but have decided to go a different route (my original plan). I bought a FSB and I'm sending it and the barrel to ADCO to have it drilled for taper pins.
22. I'd ask the tow company if you have to pay for the tow or if they charge the owner when they come to pick it up. Some tow services will put a lien on the car till the owner comes and gets it. Others want money up front.
23.
Let me attack this from a different angle. Why are you going to a low profile gas block? Is it because you are going to use a free float rail?
Yep
