  1. Output to the amp sounds too high. Also, for the hiss, I would reground everything just to make sure.
  2. Please come out to our Meet and Greet on Oct. 15th. Here's the thread link: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/events-gatherings/62372-october-15-2011-middle-tn-meet-shoot-cmhr-5.html
  3. I got it. I'll do a final count before getting a price for the BBQ. I've got six in my group so far.
  4. Let's start getting a head count. I'm up to six people including me.
  5. So far I've got four people attending including myself.
  6. Jon, you are wrong. I haven't been here long and haven't posted much, but I've felt nothing but respect from the people on the board. I've already met a few in real life, and so far they are great, honest people. I have also read quite a bit and find that everyone tries to be helpful and courteous. When I read the postings that you made, it honestly raised the BS flag in my head. The stories you told just don't sound true, and to have so many "use of force" situations in so little time is pretty uncommon. Not impossible, but uncommon. Still I could go along with it if you could substantiate it in some way. The problem is in the way you tell the stories. They sound like stories told by some people I've know to be habitual liars. This alone isn't what really has made me doubt so deeply. A person of integrity will care about their reputation in the eyes of their peers. You don't seem to care that your reputation is going down the toilet. Sometimes you have to show your bona fides in order to prove what kind of man you are. It seems like providing a little info that is not OPSEC would have cleared this all up, restored your reputation, and earned you a little respect. All I've seen is an FU approach which leads me to believe that these guys have hit the nail on the head. It isn't a big deal to show your pedigree, so to speak, to guys that you seem to have tried to build a rapport with over the last couple of years. I served eight years in law enforcement in the AF, with multiple overseas deployments and an overseas long tour. I've got a commendation medal, an achievement medal with cluster, and a number of other medals. I don't tell many of my stories, but if I did and someone wanted to know if it was BS, I could put up. This is a case of put up or shut up. If you are the man of your stories, let us know so we can give you the respect you deserve. If, however, you are full of crap, then don't act like a little b@tch with your feelings hurt, and just stop. Have some self respect and respect the community by just letting us know what kind of man you really are.
  7. This is a guy I subscribe to on youtube. He gets stopped by some police officers and it's a pretty interesting exchange.
  8. I'm down for grillin' or I'd definitely through in on some BBQ. I've got a place called Papa's Butts right by the house and they are award winning good.
  9. +1 on this. You were inconvenienced and had to use your personal time. The least they could do would be to comp you something for it.
  10. That is really nice! And inspiring as well. Might have to do some research into this. Thanks!
  11. I'm definitely interested, and have two or three other shooting buddies that would want to attend.

Thanks for the follow up. I think this may go on my "want" list.
  13. A heavier bullet has more mass, which has the ability to transfer more energy into the target. In my experience, more massive rounds do cause a harder felt recoil. Of course mass isn't the only consideration, bullet design has a lot of play in the effect on a target as well. My preference is to hit the target with a heavier brick, so to speak. There is probably some trade of with velocity and range when using a heavier projectile, but I'll let someone who is better informed speak on that.
  14. I would also recommend getting the same weight for practice and carry. I try to stick with 180 grain for both. Federal HST seems to be a good hollow point round that feeds reliably and has plenty of punch. Also Federal and Winchester FMJ rounds both perform well in my Kahr which can be a little finicky on feeding due to bullet shape. Cope's Distributing has Federal XM40HC 180gr HST for $24.99 50/bx.
  15. Very nice rifle, congratulations!
  16. I'd love to come out. I can do the 15th of Oct.
  17. Seems pretty stupid to me. It reminds me of a recent story with a guy pocket carrying a Kahr unholstered that discharged when he reached in his pocket for some change.

I'm interested to hear what you think about it at the range. I've been thinking of picking one up for a carry piece when I'm dressed up for my job. I bought a Tuck-This holster for my Kahr P40, but I just can't make it work, so a smaller gun seems to be my only choice.
  19. When you say close, what range are you thinking of? My M4 has a 1/7 twist, so I can shoot a heavier grain bullet, but I'm not sure what distance would make it inappropriate.
  20. I went from a really nice VFG to a Magpul AFG and I love it. I feel like I have better control over the end of my M4, and it makes shooting a lot more comfortable and natural. Plus for about $30 bucks, I felt like I got good value.
  21. Welcome!
  22. Welcome! Pole Position was a favorite of mine back in the day. While on video games, Battlefield 3 comes out in a few weeks!
  23. I recently watched a YouTube video where a guy had built his AK-47 but not properly. He used the video to point out his mistakes and it gave me a good idea of some things to look for in a bad AK. Hope it helps!
  24. This doesn't sound like your issue, but I thought I'd throw it in anyway just in case. I have a buddy with an AR that has the front A-site removed and a low profile gas block in place. He kept getting jams and short cycles because the block would creep a little and reduce the gas flow. Once he got it adjusted correctly and lock-tighted down, the problem was resolved.
