    Serial number

His police report is dated after you wrote the letter.
  2. Thanks for shipping our industry overseas. Thanks for allowing urban sprawl to eat up our farms. Thanks for the laws that closed our mines. Thanks for making sure wages hold the line against inflation. Thanks for the hormones in the meat and milk. Thanks for....well...for nothing. It's what we got.
  3. have you been to 7.62x54r.net yet. lots of pictures and howto's

    Serial number

If you're worried about it...send him the number in a letter...mail yourself a copy of the letter...don't open the one you mailed to yourself...the postmark is as good as a copyright to prove when you sent it. If he reports it stolen the postmark proves you knew the number before he did. As a second check...have the post office hand cancel the envelope while you're standing there. They'll do it if you ask.
  5. I took a small scraper and slid it under the retainer...there's room. I dug out a bunch of hardened cosmolene and still had to pull the spring after I got the bands off and dig out some more. The retainer spring is pretty fragile...when they installed the original spring they drilled the hole all the way through. it's there under the shellac. Grind the point off a 6d nail and use it to push out the pin attatched to the spring retainer....that's for after you get the bands off.
  6. And I was clueless...I didn't know...gosh Dan. I'm sorry, It went right over my head. I've since had a message from the gun guy and he wants me to look at it. I'm pretty impervious to insult..I've been married for 14 years...if she hasn't said it already...
  7. Since he was killed while in possession do you know for sure it was turned in?
  8. If you see a gun in hand...shoot. two in the body, one in the head. You had better believe shooting to wound doesn't work. Those guys will shoot you when they're down and bleeding to death. "I'm going to kill somebody...it might as well be you." If you're going to take the time to line up and squeeze, wear a vest. There are fast draw artists who are shooting from the hip at MUCH longer distances than 5 yards. The gun is out, the target is hit and the gun is back in the holster, faster than most people can see. you don't have to line up, with practice you too can shoot from the hip. Oh, yeah...practice one handed with both your normal hand and with the other.
  9. I'd have to shoot it too. I'd like to look at it. there are some telltale signs that show up on fakes. I'd hate to find out it was...it's pretty...I still thinks it's an Army. Navys' were .36cal.
  10. it's not an 1851 navy. looks like an 1860 Army. is it 44 cal? it's cut for the shoulder stock...does it have the hole in the grip for the "latch"??
  11. There's an online place that you can go to first. It shows a real one and tells how you can tell a replica or a fake. I googled Colt black powder revolver.
  12. Every soldier had to sign for his issued weapon. Somewhere...someplace...there's a record. The Army marches on it's stomach but it "moves" on paperwork.
  13. I googled chain fire...it seems I'm not the only one who has had it. Wrong sized caps are bad. My chainfire blew the side off of the cylinder...it must have been a bad cylinder casting. it also blew the barrel off, shearing off the wedge. Holding on to the grip and looking forward, there's the ball loading groove on the right side. most chainfires happen on that side, the ball is pushed away by the groove. mine happened on the left side and sheared a slice off the ball while pushing the barrel off and to the right. the next chamber to the left is the one that blew out. Either WalMart or Kmart didn't even ask questions, they just gave me a new kit so I assume they'd had it happen before.
  14. I'm curious as to how many avitars are being used with permission?
  15. I've seen one carrying...and only because she told me.
  16. Went pawnshopping...there seems to be a lot of these in the showcase
  17. yup...it's only football...almost as good a theater as pro wrestling
  18. When I used the Department of Defense drive eraser I didn't reformat the drive...it's got nothing on it. She wants me to format and reinstall Dell xp home (I have it) I'll do that when she has her computer cleared off. I got both of my computers from the trash of the office building across the street...they'd been rained on, a lot... They both work but I had to "AAE" them a little. Lately I had popped caps and had to change motherboards in mine.. Other than tha annoying "step to the left, step to the right" on startup, it's fine. Getting wet is no big deal...my original Win95 machine has been in the dishwasher...twice. Works...I still have it. The dishwasher story?...simple I ran it with the cover off and spilled a whole bowl of homemade chicken noodle soup it it. I had to unplug it to shut off. I figured...wtf it's dead, I can't hurt it more than it is, so I washed it.
  19. other than my sweaty armpit being drapped over the edge of the monitor...no other change. I even checked all my connects
  20. Have you tried this? Please Wait... Please Wait... Info from the National Archives
  21. Got it....I leave the room while it's booting. The problem is with my videocard...it works. Since it works I can't use my onboard video. One good thing about all the messing...I can read this tiny print now. The Video card is old but it has onboard memory and that's more ram for what I used to do.
  22. Windows XP sp3. Dell 3g hd 2.5g ram. Dell 19 flatscreen. Classic View.
  23. I spent 7 hours erasing my wife's second hard drive, using the DoD KillDisk, I couldn't use her computer (she's on Facebook 18/7) so I used mine. Removed my hard drives, installed hers, did the deed, and reinstalled my drives. Now my monitor screen jumps sideways and back on start up...annoying. Any ideas?
  24. Since I have an extreme grape allergy, I'm drinking Orange Gatorade with Corn Squeezins... no ice...ice is bad for you
