LOOK WHAT I DID!!!!!!!!!!
BluewaterTactical replied to BluewaterTactical's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Greg, cerokote is what I used to paint the slide, it's a bake on paint, once it is sprayed it then goes in the oven for the curing process. I polished the barrel with the Dremel tool and flitz polishing. BluewaterTacticalDefense -

LOOK WHAT I DID!!!!!!!!!!
BluewaterTactical replied to BluewaterTactical's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
I never wear only one shirt, so I can't really answer that. I have carried one in a Galco King Tuk with no problem but again I wear 2 shirts. There is one more thing that I did to this gun. Can anyone figure it out? I actually forgot to tell it in the original post. Look at pic # 2!!! Thanks for all the kind words. BluewaterTacticalDefense -

LOOK WHAT I DID!!!!!!!!!!
BluewaterTactical replied to BluewaterTactical's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
I forgot to mention that the stippling was done with a $5 soldering iron from wal mart. I took it and cut the tip off a bit so it wasn't so pointed. Then rounded the tip with a file. -

Lester what do you mean? I think any of y'all on here could do it, just patience and a steady hand. BluewaterTacticalDefense -
LOOK WHAT I DID!!!!!!!!!!
BluewaterTactical replied to BluewaterTactical's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
I polished the parts with a dremel and flitz polishing compound and a ton of patience. First I had to take the original finish off with 1000 grit sandpaper. As far as the thumb rest part of the frame, I don't lay my thumb there, it really helps in assisting with working the slide, while pulling back on the slide and pushing forward on the frame it gives you more grip for that action. Bkelm it's suppose to be "snake"ish, lol. Caster come on man just do it, doesn't take long, just be careful and precise. Send the frame to me and I will do it for you that way you don't have to watch, lol. I was checking out all the sites that charge for this and saw how much it was, wow they are expensive. Took 20 minutes of my time, but this isn't the first one I've done. BluewaterTacticalDefense -
Tnwnger, I think it goes like this, if the lower was sold as a pistol or has stamped on it "pistol only" then it can not be used on an SBR. You can not have a stock readily available or a buffer tube that can swap out to a rifle buttstock. Dolomite_Supafly can chim In he will know the proper terms. But I'm quite confident what I said was true. I too have researched this same issue. BluewaterTacticalDefense

Well this is my "do anything to gun". I actually traded for it from a fellow TGO'er Springfield XD Tactical 9mm. I stripped it down to the bare minimum and polished the feed ramp, barrel, guide rod and palm safety, then cerokoted the parts and slide then stippled the grip. What say you. Don't hate. Any camo dipping companies in Tn?
BluewaterTactical replied to 221 Fireball's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Will do guys. I'm anxious to see some of his work, might go tomorrow and look at the skull pattern he has. Soon as I know y'all will also know. BluewaterTacticalDefense -
Agreed!! Most people buy a 26/27 and make it a 19/23 by the time they put grip extensions on, (I have myself). G23 or G19. You will not go wrong with either. BluewaterTacticalDefense

Any camo dipping companies in Tn?
BluewaterTactical replied to 221 Fireball's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Ok talk to Mr. McDonald this morning he and his son have the business. His son is in the TN Highway Patrol academy, he said very soon he will be ready to hammer down. He didn't want me to give out his info yet. He didn't wanna keep someone gun for to long, in case a bunch of people would want it at once. Handguns are $100 and long guns are $150. Will probably have my Kahr dipped so y'all can see it. Any cool suggestions? He said there were 1000's of different patterns not limited to camo. BluewaterTacticalDefense -
I also want 2 pairs. BluewaterTacticalDefense

Let me call my buddy and see. I will get back with you sir. BluewaterTacticalDefense -
Somehow I knew you would be the first to post a reply!! Good on ya buddy!! Very well written and informative post. Ok the QD is out then, I actually thought you have to use a wrench to "cinch" it down, didn't know you just tighten it with your hand. I knew it wouldn't be the Hollywood sound of let say someone "spitting" but the quiteness of a can would benefit me in a couple of ways. Hey maybe it's just the cool factor creeping up on me, idk. I have a post in the hunting section explaining that I work at a FD and we have a airport that we have a station at. The airport director has told us that he wants the coyotes killed because they are interfering with the planes coming in and out of the airfields. So that's another reason. I do have a lathe, and some skills, less than a hundred bucks sounds fantastic to me for a can. I will do some more research in the meantime, will you write me a detailed description on how to make my own, I prefer step by step, lol. I'm kidding or not you choose. BluewaterTacticalDefense

Drv2fast, I will also be on your team. This is an opinion thread so I will give just that. I personally would choose the Glock, not because I worship them or don't worship 1911. I own both and shoot both well. I think for me the continuous reliability of the Glock would win for me. And since I'm on Drv2fast team I get 2 of em anyway. BluewaterTacticalDefense

To start with I have Tapatalk on an iPhone so bare with me if this has been covered here recently, I can't find the search section. Anyway, I'm (seriously) thinking of putting a can on my new AR, problem is I don't have enough experience with these things to know anything about them. I have seen some online for $700+. Is this normal? Plus tax stamp. Are there local gunsmiths who will make them cheaper, I know cheaper isn't always better. I wasnt going to keep it suppressed all the time just while hunting in well populated locations and various other situations. So I was thinking of doing it the quick attach way. Am I wrong? Please help me decide on the right route to take.

How about the "fat boy" with his hand on his gun and never getting a shot off, while Rick was owning his buddy. Either way that show kicks a$$.

That's fantastic!!!!!!!

While driving home tonight only 300yds from my driveway (I live in the country) I was almost run over by a coyote. This thing was on a mission to cross the road before I got to him. At least a 40-45#er, this thing was huge for a yote. Maybe I should change locations front the less hunted airfield to the backyard. I know you other coyote hunters agree the sheer site of them get my heart thumping. Need to get the lead slinging.

Muscle Shoals Regional Airport, we are uncontrolled which means we have no ATC tower, thinking I along with my lieutenant are going to go on our off days and maybe low crawl down the runway, lol.

I have followed this thread for a while on Tapatalk but since the mobile version I think I like the mobile version better. What say you?

Just curious? Trying to see if anyone has ever tried the iHunt iPhone app. I work at Muscle Shoals Fire Dept. we have a station at the airport and have a crazy coyote problem. We took my phone and played it over the PA system in the firetruck. It was astonishing how many came in!!! Even the airport worrkers were out looking and taking in the action. The airport director has told us to come back and take the shotgun and or rifle that the workers have and "take care of their problem". Anyway the app is crazy good and must work!!
