  1. They have been doing this in other states for years now...I guess TN is just a little "behind on the times." It is mainly done to target fake IDs...
  2. It was actually $230 shipped, but I purchased it when eBay / Microsoft had the 35% cash back promotion.
  3. Saturday or Sunday works for me...
  4. Have you decided on what AR you are going to go with yet? I saw you were getting the itch...
  5. Well I finally got a chance to take this gun to the range and I am very happy with it. I fed it about 80 brass-cased rounds (Remington & PMC) and then a mix of Brown Bear and Wolf steel-cased. Total was about 200 rounds and no problems whatsoever. Mags were Okay Industries and a PMAG...both performed as expected. The Bushnell sight also seemed to work well and hold zero. I had no trouble seeing the sight, even in bright sunlight. After bore-sighting it at my house, I was able to hit paper at 100 yards pretty easily. Overall I am super happy and have no complaints. I also added a front hand rail and vertical fore-end grip. BTW, there was a guy at the range insisting that I was going to ruin my AR by feeding it steel-cased ammo. I finally told him, hey, its my gun and I'll feed it what I want to...leave me alone so I can enjoy my range time in peace.
  6. Good to know for smaller orders...thanks for the heads up.
  7. Thanks again for posting...I think I compared the two places and on my total order (1k rounds mixed and some 00 buck) shipping was right in line. The winner for me was not having to deal with scanning in my ID and sending it their way. Regardless of which place you choose, they are both good deals for the Brown Bear!
  8. When I purchased from Ammunition to Go, I didn't have to send a fax or anything. They just said by ordering you verify that you are of age, etc. FWIW, their Brown Bear was about $1 cheaper and I didn't have to mess with faxing or e-mailing my license.
  9. If it was anything like the RK show was here, so far they're my favorite show promoter. I'm never going to another Pope show after the last one. Goodman has been so-so for me, so I'd rank that second. I've always wondered how the RK shows are in Knoxville, Gray and Kingsport, TN.
  10. I've always wanted to do that...
  11. I had no idea about this...
  12. The RK show in Chattanooga was $7 after coupon...I'd imagine it would be the same, but $10 wouldn't surprise me, especially after that Pope show.

    What Ammo To Use

x2...I use this stuff in my 597 and have had no issues. Around $12 for 550 at WM.
  14. Yes...base price on their rifle kits is $465 + shipping. I upgraded a few things bringing it up a bit in price. I should have a full range report tomorrow, including the Holosight, for those who were asking about it.
  15. Thanks...I'm really liking this grip. I have little girly hands and the stock plastic grip either jams my middle fingers together or spreads them way out and it isn't comfortable at all. I highly recommend this Ergo grip. I heard the Tangodown grip is pretty nice as well.
  16. Yes...the rifle kit included all trigger components.
  17. Yea, here's the pricing break down: Tactical Innovations lower - $110 OTD Del-Ton kit w/ above mentioned upgrades - $560 shipped Bushnell Holosight - $150
  18. Well, thanks to Uncle Sam, I was finally able to order my AR kit from Del-Ton. I went with the mid-length flat top with chrome lined barrel (non-chrome was on 8-12 week backorder), OD furniture and the cushy ergo grip. I ordered the kit on Sunday and it was sitting at my door today. I felt so special when I pulled it out of the box and saw a hang tag attached to the upper with my name on it. Anyways, everything went together super smoothly and I think it looks great. The real test will be at the range this weekend. I also picked up a couple surplus mags to go along with this P-Mag. I figured I had to buy at least one to go along with the OD theme. The red dot is a Bushnell Holosight from eBay. Apparently according to the guys at AR15.com, they are made by Eotech and pretty good substitutes for 1/3 the price. I also got a rear iron sight...not sure if I'm going to put that on as well or just go with the red dot for now. Here she is...
  19. I don't believe so since the feed ramp is not a part that comes on the rifle. I think there is a list of parts which count and can be replaced, but I am no expert. Check with the guys at www.saiga-12.com for definitive answers.
  20. I recommend the Nikon ProStaff 3-4x40 or any of the Russian POSP scopes...BTW, you don't believe you have a legal gun w/ the high capacity mags and no other changes.
  21. I just got back from the Pope show in Franklin and honestly it was the worst show I had ever been to. They might as well have called it the knife, painted indian feather, book, wood carving and deer antler show. I purchased a couple AR mags for $10 each just to feel like I didn't completely throw away $10 on admission. I'm tempted to try the Goodman show tomorrow, but I fear the story may be the same. Others may find something good, but I thought it was pretty lame.
  22. I saw this on another forum this morning and thought it was interesting, but not in a good way! http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c110:H.R.6257: Apparently it specifically targets all magazines / weapons made after 1994 and they've thrown in a lot of illegal to possess jargon. Hopefully this hasn't been posted before, but I think the fact that those in DC are trying to pass this doesn't bode well for the future.
  23. Do any of you ladies (or for the guys, your wives) have trouble with the trigger pull on the 642? My fiance hates my 442 and really struggles to pull the trigger. I was surprised by this as I always thought she was pretty strong from playing golf, tennis, softball, etc. Maybe I need to get her one of those grip exercisers...? She loves the gun, but hates the trigger pull,
  24. I was talking to a fellow co-worker whose wife is a teacher and apparently 75% of 8th graders in GA (not sure if it was the whole state or a particular county) failed the reading comprehension / vocabulary section of the state's standardized test. That is downright scary if its true!
  25. Sweet! That's one of my next purchases...you know, so the 7.62 doesn't get lonely while surrounded by all my other non-commie firearms.
