  1. I met an older woman at a bar last night. She wasn't bad for 57, we drank and BS'ed a bit, then she asked if I'd ever had the 'sportsman's double', a mother and daughter threesome? I said no. We drank a bit more, then she says that tonight was my lucky night. I went back to her place. She put the hall light on and shouted upstairs: "Mom you still awake?" I now hold the world record for the fastest mile..........
  2. Geez, I better be careful w/ the Uhaul trailer this weekend!
  3. I've never been there nor did I know they did FFL transfers. Good to know since I have family right up the road. Thanks...
  4. I added a Yankee Hill BUIS, forend rail and vertical grip to the AR. These are probably the extent of the add-ons that it will see.
  5. I've got the Shooter's Ridge (Harris clone) that Wal-mart sells for $40 ($60 at Sportsman's Warehouse) and have had no issue with it. It served bench duty on my 7.62 in its pre-converted state and is now mounted on my .22. No complaints for what I paid...especially since it just sits there on the table. You may even look into a bench rest if thats all you want it for.
  6. This is kind of cool...could easily liven up a boring road trip. [ame]http://youtube.com/watch?v=syg8POfcd2k[/ame]
  7. Thanks guys...looks like I won't even consider this one.
  8. I just picked up a case for $199 shipped off GunBroker. I'm hoping it is as good as everyone says it is.
  9. I've got a cheap 3-9 rim fire scope that came off my Remington 597 since I put a fixed Nikon ProStaff on it. Anyways, I could just sell the scope on eBay, but I'm toying around with the idea of buying a cheap .22 and putting the scope on it for my fiance to use.
  10. I don't think I'm going to be able to make it...still have quite a bit of work to do around the house to prepare for an upcoming move. I'd much rather be out at the range, but this stuff has to get done.
  11. No, just really ugly and beat up....regardless of whether it starts as an XJ, TJ or ZJ.
  12. I guarantee if you buy the Jeep, it will look something like this a few years from now. I'm warning you though...if you get the bug, they can be huge money pits. This was after I stripped a ton of stuff off it and sold it at a HUGE loss. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.
  13. I don't do Bojangles ever since my green chicken experience...On a side note, too bad Hardee's doesn't still serve fried chicken.
  14. Here is a good list... http://www.gunbroker.com/user/DealerNetwork.asp There are also several members on here who own shops in the area. I won't list them for fear of leaving one out and offending someone, but it should be pretty easy to identify them by doing a quick browse around the forum, especially the vendor sections.
  15. It looks like there is a show at the NW GA convention center in Dalton on the weekend of 7/19. Has anyone ever been to this show? Obviously I could not buy a handgun there w/o an FFL transfer, but it may be a good place to browse, assuming it wasn't like the last Pope show I went to... http://www.eastmangunshows.com/
  16. I guess I'm in the minority here, but I have a set of CL grips on my RIA compact. My thought process was that the small GI sights are great during the day (at least I love them), but when the light is low, they are less than desirable. This is when the laser grips come in. Also, take for instance shooting around an obstacle or remaining covered and needing to fire off a shot...you aren't going to be able to use your sights then. I know, situational dependent and I pray I'd never be in a situation like that, but anyways... As mentioned earlier, they are also great for trigger control. It's amazing how much your hand may move during a shot, unless you have taught yourself excellent control. I find it to be good practice to just sit at home and try to control my trigger pull by dry firing (snap caps of course...) and keeping the laser pointed on a target. Those are my reasons for having laser grips, but for the most part I just use my sights. Not to mention I think the flames look cool...
  17. I plan on bringing my Del-Ton AR (not as tacticool as some of the ARs on here, but I like it), my 7.62 Saiga conversion, .22 plinker and maybe the RIA compact.
  18. I kind of thought the same thing when he was lying in the grass w/ the black bear and gently stroking the bear's fur...
  19. What he said...so wrong in so many ways. For old time's sake... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ccgXjA2BLEY[/ame] It's dat woo wooooo!
  20. I'm in and Sunday works for me....hopefully the POSP for the Saiga comes in so I can spend some time sighting it in at the range.
  21. Not sure on the legality issues, but from a cost standpoint, the set-up and machining would be very $$$, unless the machinist/shop already had the proper tooling. Interesting links... http://www.warpedairsmithing.com/arblog/main.asp http://www.mdshooters.com/showthread.php?t=4197 My initial comment was based on starting from a solid chunk of Al, vs. buying a 0% receiver.
  22. I'm sure some of you guys remember Timothy Treadwell (Grizzly Man). Anyways, there is another guy, Charlie Vandergaw, on ABC Primetime now that opens up his home in Alaska every year to Black bears and Grizzlies. Pretty incredible footage if you're into this kind of stuff. http://abcnews.go.com/Primetime/Story?id=5288312&page=3
  23. FWIW, the ProMag 22-rounder I bought for my Remington 597 feeds flawlessly. OTOH, the Remington 30-rounder I had jammed every couple of shots and was total junk. I guess it all depends on the gun...
