  1. Nothing is impossible, guys. The issue with Katrina is that civil unrest was cited as why the police disarmed civilians. If there were a major disaster, man-made (to include economic) or natural, and food supply chains were interrupted, there would be civil unrest as a result of this economy having made people live from paycheck to paycheck. A lot of people do not have more than a weeks worth of food on their shelves. We all forget how ugly society can be when we are competing for supplies. This scenario could provide a distraction & excuse for them to confiscate/ban weapons as a matter of safety. While many police officers and national guardsmen say they are "OathKeepers", when faced with the sight of their brethren being arrested for not following orders, they may fall into line as well. Of course, this is just my humble opinion, but it is feasible.
  2. Women often receive warnings about protecting themselves at the mall and in dark parking lots, etc. but this is the first warning I have seen for men. I wanted to pass it on in case you haven't heard about it. This will only become more commonplace. A 'heads up' for those men who may be regular Lowe's, Home Depot, or Costco customers. This one caught me by surprise. Ladies, please let your husband/partner know of this scam. Over the last month I became a victim of a clever scam while out shopping. Simply going out to get supplies has turned out to be quite traumatic. Don't be naive enough to think it couldn't happen to you or your friends. Here's how the scam works: Two seriously good-looking 20-something girls come over to your car as you are packing your shopping into the trunk. They both start wiping your windshield with a rag and Windex, with their tops almost falling out of their skimpy T-shirts. It is almost impossible not to look.. When you thank them and offer them a tip, they say 'No' and instead ask you for a ride to McDonalds. If you agree, they get into the back seat. On the way, they start undressing. Then one of them climbs over into the front seat and starts crawling all over you, while the other one steals your wallet. I had my wallet stolen Sept 4th, 9th, 10th, twice on the 15th, 17th, 20th, 24th & 29th. Also on Oct 1st & 4th, twice on the 8th, 16th, 23rd, 26th & 28th, and three times last Monday and very likely again this upcoming weekend. So tell your friends to be careful. What a horrible way to take advantage of older men. Warn your friends to be vigilant. Wal-Mart has wallets on sale for $2.99 each. I found cheaper ones for$1.99 at K-Mart and bought them out. Also, you never will get to eat at McDonalds. I've already lost 11 pounds just running back and forth to Lowe's, Home Depot, and Costco.
  3. "The blind conservative at the rally tried in vain to make his point".
  4. a disruption in supply chain could cause this in less than a month or 3 weeks. Our society is based on JIT (Just In Time) deliveries. Stores do not store a warehouse of food anymore. They replensih as needed from the Regional distributors.
  5. As some of you may know, I run a 2nd Amendment Facebook page with @27000 followers (https://www.facebook.com/pages/2nd-Amendment/215558845416?ref=mf). I recently got a discount code from a company to share with my followers. The company is Shield Tactical: http://www.shieldtactical.com/ Discount code is FB2A. Good for 10% off and FREE SHIPPING. It's good for anything that they sell. Take advantage and share.
  6. What bothers me on this issue is that just a few weeks ago, after the Batman movie shooting, when people said they wished a CCW was in the crowd. The biggest backlash was people saying that's bad because of how many innocents would be hit in the crossfire. Are we supposed to just let the "rampager" do his thing killing people, so that we don't kill people while trying to stop him/her? It makes absolutely no sense.
  7. It seems like at all events, the "trade blanket" occurs. What would be the thoughts on just having a "Trade Blanket Assemblage"? I think we all have a bunch of "crap" that we could stand to get rid of (especially to make our wives happy). And "One man's trash IS another man's treasure". I am in Blount County, and I am sure that we could find a place to meet for just a couple of hours. No food or drink or camping gear needed. Thoughts?

  14. When we took our CCW safety course here in TN, we had a guy from pre-paid legal talk about this stuff. We signed up and keep paying monthly, JUST IN CASE we need an attorney for any incident.
  15. Broomhead, those are good looking knives. Spots, I am in Alcoa and would love to come see you guys working steel and maybe get some tips. The weekends would definitely be best, since I work from home and need to stay busy. Let me know what weekends would be good for you. PM me when you get time.
  16. I saw that someone had a class on knifemaking a couple of months ago. I wish I had seen it, as I would have attempted to attend. A couple of years ago, I took my son an a trip to WY for a survival camp. I met a guy from MN who made and sold his own knives. I have one from him. He would tell me a lot about making them and how much he enjoyed it. I am veruy curious about seeing it done firsthand, and maybe trying it for myself. If there is anyone in the 30 mile radius of Alcoa/Maryville area, I'd love to come see your shop/methods. I am an absolute novice.
