  1. I was going to buy a Mueller 4.5-14x40 APV for my 22Hornet after reading about how good they are for the money but found a good deal on a Sightron Big Sky 12x42 Fixed AO that was too good to pass up, Reg $550, on closeout and with rebate $199 from SWFA. They still have some of the Sightron SI (cheaper model, but still get great reviews) on closeout for under $100 and a Big Sky 3x9x42 for $299. I also bought one of those for my ABolt 270 for $199 with rebate, unfortunatley rebate ended last month. After looking down the Sightrons I am gonna be hard pressed to buy anythng else.
  2. CZ 452 Preferably an American if you can find one. Would be at the top of your price range but would also be a good investment as they are not making them anymore and only going up in value
  3. There is a lot of money to be made in selling fear.
  4. Find somebody that is replacing their kitchen, thats what I did and managed to salvage enough to make a pretty nice set up. I think all in I've got less than $100 in it and most of that was in the pegboard and oak valence.
  5. I was hunting this year and dropped my sandwich from my tree stand. It was a ham sandwich and landed in such way that the meat was laying out exposed. Within 5 minutes I noticed circuling shadows on the ground around my tree. I looked up and had 5-6 buzzards about 50 ft above my tree just circling. When I looked up and made a little movement they flew off. I was amazed they had honed in on the meat so quickly. They are fascinating birds and if you ever get a chance to see any kind of nature tv show about them you need to watch it and see what they are capable of and how they behave and interact as a group.
  6. Went through a similar situation in Florida back in 98 (IIRC) when we had the wildfires. The whole county of Flagler was under a mandatory evacuation. After about 3-4 days when we returned we saw the National Guard in front of WalMart with M16's, military vehicles at certain intersections not letting people through and there was a 4pm curfew for a few days. It was an eerie feeling but after those few days they left and no one was the worse off.
  7. You can always tell Turkey Buzzards by looking at the wing tips, they will look like fingers spread apart where hawks will look like fingers with no spacing between. Also a Buzzard will circle and circle and very rarely if ever flap its wings.
  8. All bubbles burst eventually. The higher the bubble the harder the crash.
  9. Had nothing but good luck with Privi ammo. Would not hesitate to buy it for any caliber I shoot.
  10. Open a photobucket account and download the picture in to that. Then copy them img code and paste it into your post.
  11. Mine is the American and comes with rings. I see you are in Knoxville and If you want to meet me sometime and shoot it that 90% feeling you have will turn into 100%. The set trigger can be set down to well under a 1lb for target shooting. That alone will sell you on it if the quality aint enough.
  12. Maybe this will help make up your mind. Here is picture of my 527 22 Hornet with 12x42AO Fixed Sightron. Got it from KyGunCo, they seem to have the cheapest prices on the 527's that I found. BTW they are showing both an American in 223 and 204 in stock.
  13. I just got a CZ527 in 22 Hornet and love it. Trigger is adjustable for creep, poundage, and over travel. Also with the set trigget I have had it set down to 8oz but brought it back up to 1lb. It is my absolute favorite rifle. No feeding issues I have expirienced or ever read about. Mine is the American and came with rings. Craftsmanship is second to none and so far after only 30 rounds down the barrel with cheap Privi ammo I am at 1-1/2" groups at 100yds. I expect it to get down to well under 1" when I develop a load for it. You cant go wrong with a CZ, if you can find one.
  14. Just make sure it is a vehicle you will drive until it drops, as it will be doubly hard for you to sell it when you are done with it.
  15. I was by there two weeks ago and noticed all the AR's, didnt even ask price, not wanting one anyway right now. If they are still there after all this time I can only imagine the pricing was way, way out of line.
  16. Looks like you got all the steps in the right order, the only thing you left was "make payment to seller".
  17. I just got my renewal in the mail last week, cant believe how fast 3 years went by. 31 aquisitions and 13 disposals. I love my C&R.
  18. I have one also. I took mine apart, bead blasted it and sent it Glenrock Bluing out in Wyoming (I think). They did the bluing of all the parts and recolored the receiver i think for under $100 IIRC. It looks almost parkerized. Not exactly sure on the cost but I know I wouldn't have paid more than that.
  19. I think some of them still have the red stamp on their hand from the last gun show. They are not unhygentic just thrifty.
  20.       You might be surprised. If somebody is there that is desperate for some cash you may do alright. From what I saw today there were a ton for sale and nobody was buying. Fixing to be a buyers market pretty quick for those who need to sell to keep the bill collectors away.
  21. The "Big Green" of taday is not even close to the same "Big Green" of the past.
  22. I picked up aan AK74 Bulgarian parts kit and 80% receiver this week and plan on building it myself. I have built a few sporting rifles and an AR in the past few years so I feel pretty confident I can do this. I am also a metal fabricator by trade so the receiver build is no problem. I was wondering where or who does heat treating in the area.
  23. Seem to be about the going rate for M38's anymore, they just dont come up for sale very often. My guess he would take less as they have been for sale for the last few days with only a couple of them sold.
  24. Everybody makes money keeping the gun battle alive. Exactly why I think nobody will ever will it or would even want to win it. Both the gun and anti gun lobby's will make a ton of money, not to mention attorneys, politicians let alone the manufacturers.
  25. I go the Pilot. I have heard they give free coffee and sodas to LEOs. Very rarely is there not at least one if not two or three LEOs at the Pilot I go to.
