I have a 1903A3 I am almost done converting to a A4 configuration. The last thing is to get the bolt handle modified to clear the scope. Anybody know where to get this done? Jeff Walle at G&L did the new barrel install and scope rings and bases install, but he couldn't do the handle conversion. I found the stripped converted bolts on Numrich, but would like to keep the original one since it is headspaced to the new barrel. Any ideas?

Upgrades to a gun without the old parts is like selling a car advertising that it has a new battery, new alternator, new tires, etc. You have to have those items for the car to run just like a gun has to have them for it operate. New safety, new mag release and such are required, whether new or not. This of course doesn't apply to items of bling that are extraneous to the gun like Crimson Trace grips and such. Most of those type gadgets can be taken off and will not affect the use of the gun. Those are of course a different matter entirely.

I haven't heard any of what he said either. The only change to lowers were for Title I in that they had to be listed as a receiver only for transfer purposes. In fact I just renewed by SOT last month and did not receive any kind of update about it. I also never received anything about NFA anything in the last year or so. He said I could call NFA branch and they could confirm it. Think I will do that tomorrow...

Went to order three SBR stripped lowers for some guys and the NFA guy at Spike's (Ross) said that the ATF doesn't allow the sale of SBR lowers anymore, that they have to be sold as complete rifles. He also said that basically the FFL sells a stripped standard lower to a customer, and they do the paperwork for registering it as a SBR. Also that the customer no longer has to engrave their name & city/state on the lower. This flies in the face of everything I have ever dealt with and he couldn't e-mail me the letter/ruling/whatever from ATF stating this. He said this has been in place for a little over a year now. Time for some research, but thought I would pass this along and I will update when I find out something for sure.

Well, hush my mouth! did that Judge have standing?
TNRobocop replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
So why doesn't AZ just ignore the ruling? I wondered what would happen anyway if a state ingored a federal judge/court other than the Supreme Court? What realistically would the federal .gov do? I recall when the 101st Abn Div was sent to Little Rock, AR and all that, but except for the power of the purse strings, such as cutting federal funds for highways and such for not lowering drinking ages and speed limits, technically the feds are toothless. But I am reading the Federalist Papers and a history book written for patriots at the moment so that clouds my thinking I guess. -
If you drink and carry you are a fraking idiot.

Opinions on Mc Cann Scope Mounts for the M14/M1A

Just don't ever shoot it and wish it would go to a good home. -
What the hell is the OP smoking? The entire post is one rambling confusion...

6.8 uppers seem to work just fine on standard lowers. Like you said use the correct mags. However, some straight 20rd mags do work also in a pinch.

Prototype blew out the barrel. I expect that this gun just has the new cool factor going for it is all. But like anything else Kel-Tec makes, it might as well be made from unobtanium since their production capability sucks.

Center of Mass (Human Body) Definiton?
TNRobocop replied to Oh Shoot's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Jaime you have a whole 7 years and change on me. Big deal. I went in the army at 17, and have served in various branches since then for around 22 years. Worked LE since 1997. I would think that my experience is roughly the same as yours. Yes you are right that in a perfect world your hits would work. We don't work or live in a perfect world and with the average firearms skill proficiency level of most individuals, civilian, LE, or Military, it is unrealistic to espouse hits to those areas. People rarely rise to the occassion, they default to their level of training. -
Center of Mass (Human Body) Definiton?
TNRobocop replied to Oh Shoot's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
We are talking apples and oranges here. The COM shots are for engagement purposes the largest area to place a round in a gunfight is the point I am trying to get across. Most hits to anywhere in this area will cause serious damage, physical and psychological. The neck area is a very narrow engagement area for trying to place a shot, especially under stress and with a target that is probably in motion. In a perfect world with a target locked into a vise, your magic neck shot might work as intended. Lots of individuals have be shot in the neck or sustained shrapnel injuries in combat to the neck and throat area and survived. If you want to talk technical go right on ahead. I am referring to real world training. Except for precision shooting, I would never emphasize anything other than COM. -
Center of Mass (Human Body) Definiton?
TNRobocop replied to Oh Shoot's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
What I was referring to the center of mass for the body for "engagement" purposes, not a scientific purpose. As far as vertebre go, most shots are not going to be from behind, but rather frontal/side/oblique type shots. Specifically sniper engagement zones, but would work for most firearm engagements also. -
Center of Mass (Human Body) Definiton?
TNRobocop replied to Oh Shoot's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
As I stated in the other thread, in all of my training, military and LE, it was generally explained that the center of mass for the human body is from the bottom of the neck where it meets the chest to the beltline. Center of mass on the human body as a whole, not center of the chest. Below that is the pelvic girdle region, which believe it or not is starting to gain popularity for an engagement area due to stopping mobility and large amounts of blood flow through it. Above that is the head/throat area which unless engaged in the crainial vault area, is not usually a DRT shot. -
Okay this will probably start a pissing match, but that's not the intent but here goes... I have 22 years of military service, both active/guard/reserve as a AF SF/Army MP/USNR MA so bear with me on this. Military Police is not "real" police. This has been stressed in every MP-type unit I have ever been in. Troops get this into their head that they are the police, but this isn't true in the least. You are not a LEO. Off-base you have no recognizable authority. You do not have the same training, experience, or resources most civilian police have. So you are looking at this from your eyes, which are from a military POV, not a standard civilian LE POV. I say this because I am active duty Security Forces and do the same job full-time as you, just at my base. Working on a military base is no where near the same job as off base. Except for the rare shooting at Ft. Hood, drunk infantry or such, etc., 95% or more of your contacts will be compliant subjects that are military, military dependents or contractors. They know the rules and consequences of showing their azz to the MP's on the base. I also work 20-30 hours a week as a civilan LE also. I have training certs out the ying yang, and have certification as a LE in OK and TN. Just because you have the situation you described, doesn't mean anything the officer was doing was wrong. Myself, I am not inclined to deal with that many subjects/vehicles on a traffic stop, but to each their own. The officer called in the stop along with the tags, he is aware that you have an unloaded weapon in the car (which he will keep an eye on, but since you said something chances are you aren't a scrote and therefore a major risk). The other officer that pulled up checked on him, then probably just went down the road on another call or something, but chances are the officer told the backer that all was 10-4 and if he needed anything he would holler. The other officer probably was just down the road and able to respond back if needed, plus the info was out there on the individuals that were stopped so alot of the risk was mitigated. Not everything is as wrong as you think it might seem.

Quick question though....are you military police or civilian police working on the installation?

TN sales tax on pistol bought online and shipped from another state?
TNRobocop replied to a topic in General Chat
You do not pay any sales tax to the FFL dealer and if he tries to collect it tell him to frak off. Legally you are responsible to pay sales tax to the state, but the dealer doesn't sell you anything so he can't tax you. You are responsible for paying the tax yourself....... Yeah I'll get right on that... -
College Gun Bans Still on Despite SCOTUS Ruling
TNRobocop replied to walton6467's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
But what if they are a state supported school? I can see a private school doing whatever they want, but a school supported by tax payer dollars, the school vehicles on campus with state tags, etc. No way no how. -
If you get a ticket in GA, it will go on your TN DL record, but only if Rossville reports it. My wife got a ticket when she was a Doctoral Intern in Augusta and some pissant PD was patrolling the interstate highway and gave her a ticket in 2008. It showed on her TN DL early 2009. So yes it will show from GA if they report it. If you fight a ticket in court, expect to lose and additionally expect to pay court costs on top of the ticket of at least $50. Pay it and forget it if you were actually doing the speed they cited you.
