What about these pirates.......
-
I am in LaVergne and charge $35 including TICS.

I guess the whole listing of what branches I have previous service in got lost on you huh? Don't get all butthurt. It is my opinion and I said to take it for what it is worth. My unit is made up of mostly prior service from almost all other branches except AF.
-
Ok, here is my opinion, take it for what it is worth. My career is as follows... 1988-1992 - Heavy Anti-Armor Infantryman, 101st Airborne 1992-1994 - USAF/ANG Security Police 1994-1997 - Heavy Anti-Armor Infantryman, USAIC, Ft. Benning, GA 1998-2004 - USAF/ANG Security Forces 2004-2005 - US Navy Reserve, Master at Arms 2005-2006 - Army National Guard MP 2006-2008 - USAF/ANG Security Forces - Traditional Guardsman 2008-Now - USAF/ANG Security Forces - Active Guard/Reserve That being said, do NOT go Army or Marines. Been there done that. Instituational stupidity is rampant now days. I have seen the other side and it sucks, which is why I am in the ANG now, even though I got REALLY lucky and wrangled a active guard slot with the unit I am in now. Yes the air forces does stupid ****, yes there is alot of nitpicky crap to put up with. But we are a smarter, well taken care of force that gets paid the same as any other branch. And no matter how ****ty the field is, the hotel/nice barracks are only a truck ride away. I am security forces, and while it seems like we play with a lot of cool ****, most of the time it is wackenhut in camo. Granted the cool times are there, but considering that we are "the infantry of the air force", most of the air force doesn't know what to do with us since we don't fly or work on **** that flies. If you were to go AD, I would look into EOD. The guys I have worked with in the past were cool as ****, had the cool toys, and nobody ****s with people crazy enough to play with IED's by choice.

One Stop Money Shop on Murfreesboro Road by Bell Road usually has some great deal. I have gotten several Glocks and a few long guns there for some good prices.

16" .308 battle rifle PTR91 or Imbel FAL?
TNRobocop replied to Magiccarpetrides's topic in Long Guns
Another vote for the FAL. I have had a CETME, G-3 clones, a PTR-91, a STG-58, and finally the 16" FAL and the FAL wins hands down. -
It shouldn't be any shorter really than the 16" STG-556 I have. I am fine with that one so I think that I can decide what I do or don't want. I use the STG as a patrol rifle and it works fine for that. If I really want to go .308, I will pull out the 16" FAL Para and use that instead.
-
I have the heavy duty one if you want to bring it over we can break that sucker loose. I live in Hermitage.
-
I looked at some of my distributors and only one of them has them listed, but not in stock yet. Also it was only listed/pictured with a 18" barrel and a scope, bipod, etc. Not interested in a 18". Now a 16" would be okay and would use the same mags my FAL uses.

Anyone have $30k cash lying around?
TNRobocop replied to a topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
How in the hell is that thing not been fired. If I had it since 1997, that damn thing would have already had a new barrel in it. -
Run, don't walk away from that POS gun. Crappy accuracy, non-reliable mags. Buy an AK instead.
-
Yeah pretty much. He just carries the copy of the form all the time, not the gun.
-
I have a friend that has a MAC-10 and he made a full color photocopy of his form, shrank it to credit card size, laminated it, and carries it with him at all times.
-
Well I don't charge $20, but I charge only $25 plus the $10 TICS check.
-
Oh yeah, that will work. Advocating deadly force against a postal employee. Not the smartest thing I have read in awhile. I suggest an edit would be in order.
-
I read somewhere that pricing will actually be closer to the $2100 area, give or take a little.

Remm 870 AOW as an Accessory?
TNRobocop replied to poak's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
The AOW would become a SBS as the stock of the rifle/rifle itself is the stock for the AOW. The new Remington 870 MCS the military uses has a rail on top like that for mounting optics or for connection to a handguard adapter from Knights Armament. The AOW concept is that it never had a stock. Connecting it to a rifle would now make it have a stock and require registration/payment of the $200 tax and it would now be a SBS. -
(For Paletiger....) BANGKOK - Thailand's military, still standing watch over the kingdom's political upheaval, has been cleared to purchase thousands of Israeli assault rifles and a Singaporean warship. Embattled Thai Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej, who doubles as defense minister, approved a package of defense modernization deals with his Cabinet on Sept. 9. In total, the package is worth an estimated $191.3 million. Most of the package is devoted to a $152.8 million Singapore Technologies-designed amphibious frigate. The Royal Thai Armed Forces will also buy thousands of Israeli assault rifles and Russian shoulder-fired anti-aircraft missiles. "The Cabinet has been lenient with military requests this year in particular," said Thitinan Pongsudhirak, a political and security analyst with Bangkok's Chulalongkorn University. "The last thing Samak needs right now is disgruntlement in the military." Cabinet documents obtained by Defense News say that Thailand's military will contract with Singapore Technologies to buy one large, amphibious frigate - called a landing platform dock ship - for transporting cargo and troops. However, the papers don't specify an exact model. The frigate will be paid off in installments through 2011. Thailand has also inked a contract to buy 15,037 Tavor TAR-21 assault rifles from Israel. This $30.1 million buy will boost the Thai military's total stock of the bullpup-design rifles to more than 30,000 - replacing many of the Army's aging rifles. That purchase is coupled with a $4.4 million order for 531 Israeli Negev light machine guns, raising Thailand's stock to more than 1,100. These will be partially paid for from a special budget tied to securing the violence-scarred Malaysian border, where separatist Muslim insurgents continue to target soldiers and civilians. Russia will also supply 36 Igla-S shoulder-fired, surface-to-air missiles to Thailand - with seven launching mechanisms - for nearly $4 million. The contracts, which Thitinan described as "scattered," suggest the Thai military lacks a "coherent long-term procurement strategy," he said. In December, when a military council still led Thailand after former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra's 2006 coup, it announced a similar round of purchases. In addition to overall modernization plans for each service, the military announced plans to buy Saab Gripen fighter jets, Chinese surface-to-surface missiles, armed personnel carriers and more. "It's been a hodgepodge package in the last few years," Thitinan said. The new package appears in part to address some of Thailand's topical needs, with the Negev light machine guns intended to fight the kingdom's gruesome southern insurgency. The amphibious frigate, according to Cabinet documents, will provide quick disaster relief. Singapore's fleet of landing platform dock ships - all built by the same Singapore Technologies firm - were among the many vessels delivering medics and supplies during the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. The deal, a modernization boon to Thailand's military, was inked under a shroud of political unrest. To approve the package, the prime minister and his Cabinet convened many provinces away from their Bangkok compound, still occupied as of Sept. 12 by protesters demanding Samak's resignation. At one point 10,000 deep, the protesters transformed the prime minister's stately grounds into a grungy campsite ringed with razor-wire and makeshift barricades. After Samak issued a state of emergency on Sept. 2, no soldiers were dispatched to the compound, and many questioned his sway over the military. Gen. Anupong Paochinda, the Royal Thai Army's commander in chief, has insisted that restoring peace through the military is not the answer. Still, Thai military leaders took a similar public stance just before they ousted previous Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra two years ago. Relations between Samak and the military remain "smooth and close," said government spokesman Nattawut Saikua. But he added: "I say this realizing the leader of the last coup said many, many times he would not seize power." However, Samak's tenuous hold on the prime minister's seat is not expected to affect the military's new arms package.

Alot of places will send you for the training for free if you work for them. Just an option.

Even though it is a bit of a drive, the Montgomery County Shooting Complex TWRA range is awesome. Most of the RO's I met there are retired military out of Campbell, some from Group. All were very professional and knowledgeable, without butting in and telling you about that they are. Alot more relaxed, you can go prone on the 100 yd range and it goes out to 400 yards next to the 100 yd range.

M14's at my unit......
TNRobocop replied to TNRobocop's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
That was the first thing I thought of. How the Army and the Corps were trying to get those back for DMR's and these were just sitting here not even being used. I am trying to get them assigned to us for use as DMR's but typical USAF keeps getting the way. -

TNRobocop replied to TNRobocop's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
We will be going to Smyrna in the near future to do some quals with them for S&G's. Maybe I can get a few back into FA by then. I know several departments use the same range. I am sure a demo could be arranged, just don't try to walk off with any of them....
