Since I don't see a military or LE icon under your name, I am guessing that you have no practical experience except what you read in online or in magazines that made you go out and by your SR-25 that you are all ate up with. Fine. That's your decision. I would only personally want the PSG-1 if I won the lottery or whatnot just because I think it is a cool gun. My full-time job is active duty military and have served for about 21 years so I think I know a little bit more about military appropriations and testings than you do. The SR-25 did get the nod for the new SASS, but how many other weapon systems were tested? I personally do not know since I wasn't following the testing, nor do I really care. It is a good system, but just because it won, doesn't make it the best. It met the minimum requirements and tested the best during the evaluation. That doesn't make it the absolute best. It just meant it passed a test. For my purposes, the guns I own work for me with the reliability and accuracy that I need. If you want to sing the praises of your rifle good for you. Agree to disagree. But there is no reason to disparage the other rifles just because you own one. Like was said, it is the driver, not the car.

And what quantifies "real sniper training"? There are some people, probably here on the site, that have been to some schools on their own dime that could shoot better than most. Military sniper schools are not the end all and be all. Police sniper schools IMO are much better for teaching accuracy and close-in observation. The rifle is obviously just a tool. If the driver sucks, he doesn't need to be behind the wheel no matter what he is driving. Several of those guns are used commonly as sniper rifles, both military and civilian applications. Just because the latest and greatest leg humping tool is out there, doesn't mean that it's the bees knees. Heck the standard to go by is the Remington 700 PSS/M-24 system and it is under $2K with most bells and whistles you can get for it. I am quite happy to take my M1A or my TAC-20 with me if I have to take it out of the trunk. Hopefully it can stay there and only come out for range days.

The SR-25 is not worth the extra coinage. Just because the military uses it, should not be a quantifying factor. We use lots of stuff that is because they are the lowest bidder. GPS stuff comes to mind just as an example. I have shot the SR-25 and it just really didn't impress me anymore than my TAC-20. Not that it wasn't a nice stick, just couldn't see where you were getting the bang for your buck. I absolutely agree with you on the PSG-1. Heck for $10K or more you should get what you pay for. The only one I have shot was as perfect a gun as you could find, but still I would only buy it if I had won a lottery. I have owned or still own every one of the other weapons you listed also. Some were great, some were so-so (ergonomics, accuracy, etc.). My two go to long guns are my DPMS TAC-20 and the SA M1A. They serve very well and both are 1MOA or less usually with the right ammo.

Make sure to not take any loaded magazines in there with any of you..

This.... I have one and I have two friends with them that I ordered for them. Great shooting rifles and use the same mags as the SR-25. Price is between $1200-$1500 on average. A huge savings. I have a friend of mine using the one I own in a police sniper school this week in fact.

There is also no reason for alot of those stories except to put LE in any bad light it can. And the persons who post those know it. No point in posting them. -
E-mails sent to those that sent PM's to me with their e-mail addresses with the TN TFA cards. It is a PDF so use it as you see fit.
-
I am at work at the base on my laptop, which doesn't have the cards on it,, but I will e-mail them from home when I get off at 10pm. I did find this page where you can download the cards off of a link from TFA if that will work for you guys. Free "No Guns, No Money" Cards
-
Well like another guy said, if they have anything anti, just have an unarmed member of your group give the front door person one of the cards that say you will be eating elsewhere. Then go somewhere else. Problem solved. I am just waiting for me to get the first dispatch to remove a HCP individual from a posted business. I love officer discretion.
-
One of the threads had the link to the .pdf for printing them. Shoot me a pm with your e-mail and I will send them to you.

Just go to Brownells.com. Quicker and cheaper than driving 50 miles.

Actually the only reason the 25% is there is because people try to buy guns all the time that can't pass a check. It's to waive off the turds out there that cannot buy a gun. Some people know they can't, others don't know. It takes the same amount of time to process a buyer, whether they get approved or not. Like if you know your credit is crappy, why try to buy a house or a new car off the lot?
-
I have a friend that had a simple assault charge 8 years ago or so in his own house when a drunk started a fight with him. Before he moved to TN he had to jump the hoops whenever he bought a gun. No other legal problems in his life. So he moves to TN, meets me, warns me about the delays, then proceeds to do a transfer. He has a HCP that went through ok. No problems, instant approval. So about 2 years and probably 12 guns later, he starts catching hell. Always has to appeal, etc, etc. Always gets approved on the appeal. So he gets a C&R, hoping that it will cut down on the denials. No-Go, still gets flagged. By this time, he has a C&R, a HCP, AND works as a Reserve Police Officer. He ended up getting a FBI UPIN. Now when we run a check, we give that to the TBI also (even though you have to argue with them to give it to them at times). They do the check, which of course flags it, they say they will check with the FBI and call me back. About 30 mins later they call back and approve the transfer. So if you are having problems, then get the FBI UPIN. A C&R won't do crap for you. As far as a pre-check done, they will not do it and it is illegal to use the check in that manner. A dealer also is charged for each check $10, whether you are approved or not.

House overrides veto on SB3012!!
TNRobocop replied to Fallguy's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I know when I lived in AL, you just went to the sheriff's office, paid $20, filled out a form, came back about two weeks later and got your permit. This was back in 1997 so who know now. Mine was out of Birmingham/Jefferson County and was $7.50 at one time, but was raised to help pay for a SO police academy. They didn't require a security license either. You just had to have your CCW permit and you could work as a security guard. Heck they just now allowed SBS/SBR NFA. But I digress. -

I agree totally that we should be allowed to carry in any restaurant. Should not matter that it serves alcohol or not. It should also not be a crime to carry into one, posted or not. The only authority is that the owner should be allowed to ask you to leave, not make a criminal out of an otherwise legal and peaceful person. Just like any other right for a property owner. If I get the time, I will check out the link. Now that the law is on the books for now, it's time to regulate the difference between bars and restaurants and strip out the gunbuster sign and make the owners actually put in the effort to post correctly. I think the map is incorrect for Oklahoma and maybe Alabama. We had CCW there, not open carry IIRC. -

I would like to see where other states allow carry into a bar. Not saying that there is, but I have lived in GA, TN, AL, and OK and cannot recall any states that allowed carry into a bar. But IIRC those states also layed out exactly what is and what isn't a bar or restaurant. Anybody have a reference for allowing carry into a bar in any other states? -

And that is why this is a bad bill. Now any retard can post the symbol without a second thought (probably with stickers given from a chamber of commerce) and poof you are now a criminal if you carry there. This bill should have: a. Determined what was a restaurant and what was a bar. b. Made the sign have to be a certain size, color, and wording, and mandatory placement. Similar to Texas. c. Passed only allowing carry in a restaurant, not in a bar. In an ideal world, the property owners could have no say in if you carry, similar to how they had no say in banning smoking. They could ask you to leave the premises if you carried a gun in, but there would be no criminal violation. Well now we have a law which I can guarantee will get challenged, and will get FUBAR'd up again in court. -
Shouldn't make a difference what vehicle you are in from the law point of view. The permit is for you to carry, not the vehicle. The only thing it would be a problem is if you are in a company vehicle and the company didn't want you to carry in their property your employer could punish you. But since that isn't the case, it should be fine. I would though at least have some proof that the truck is yours, just in case. You have 30 days to register a vehicle in TN so keep that in mind and you should be fine.

Tennessee Senate Overrides Restaurant Carry Veto

Go ahead and pull a Kwik and see what happens. -
Do not, whatsoever, try to "clean" them yourself. You will ruin whatever value they have. I was digging through some of the boxes today of old Soldier of Fortune magazines and found an article from the May 1981 issue about these swords and the one man in the USA that refurbished these swords. He also was on a quest to find these swords and was looking for the national treasure swords. At the time he was the man to go to. He used six different stones to correctly polish them. The article covered all kinds of stuff about them. Lengths, names, types, etc. The guy was named Koichiro "Kuzan the Knifemaker" Oda in Colorado. His company was called Kuzan, Japanese for "Mountain". He had an apprentice the article mentioned named Terry Berryman also. The little bit of google I found is that he now either back in Japan or now lives in Alaska, but that info is from 2009.

Korea was occupied by Japan during WWII so chances are good they are all Japanese. There were several different levels of swords. Original ones passed down throught the family are the highest quality and value. There were also some made before the individual deployed overseas. The Japanese government also machine made swords for Officers and NCO's. I am not an expert by any means, but I did have a NCO machine made one I sold for a friend of mine. Still had the cross guard, but not the original handle and it still sold for around $300.

Worked my scheduled shift at the base.

The only reason he federalized the AZARNG is to prevent the AZ governor from using them on the border to enforce the new law/protect the border. By taking them away he thinks he has a win/win situation. He keeps her from using them and he makes it look like he is actually doing something.
-
They have me on file also and I ordered three of them. Dealers get the emails about 24 hours before the regular customers it looks like.

It is believed that they were unlicensed security guards. But hating cops is a hobby for alot of people on here.
