  1. According to the TDOS website, you will have to take the training course to get a Tennessee HCP. here's the link... http://www.tennessee.gov/safety/handgun/apprequirements.htm PM sent
  2. super light, concealable, in a DeSantis Nemesis, it disappears in my front pocket - looks like a wallet or a BlackBerry, and a decent self defense caliber. But after about 100 rounds, I'm still getting NUMEROUS fail to fires (from light primer strikes) - various brands and types of ammo. Not cool for a last resort gun that HAS to go bang each time I ask it to. I found this post from Marswolf from last summer : ........and mine is not.Would a fluff & buff help this at all ? Or do I just need to go on and get it on the way to Florida ? If I send it back, I gotta wait until my Taurus 850 CIA arrives, so I'm not caught unprepared. Anyone else had this light strike problem ? Advice ? Comments ?
  3. I've never fired, or even fondled, a FNP. But I see them in the CDNN catalog, and I must say it is a PURTY gun ! Purty as Thelma Lou ! And, IME, you can't beat CDNN's prices.
  4. So you finished the classroom work at 1:00, shot 48 rounds, and walked out the door at 1:30 ? Keep in mind that the state requirement is (no less than) 4 hours classroom and (no less than) 4 hours on the range.
  5. Holy Crap ! I should have looked at this earlier in the day...at this hour now, that picture of HC is gonna give me night terrors !!!!
  6. Of course not. He wasn't even my first choice. Is he the perfect candidate ? No, but there's not one of those out there, so we pick from among who we're given. But he is a damn sight better than Hillary or Obama, and I certainly don't want either one of those to be sworn in a year from now. If you guys do......hope that works out for you. I said this earlier....here's my post... Couldn't agree more. But that wasn't the thrust of my original and subsequent posts. My point was you DON'T have the RIGHT to call somebody a liar and an SOB and then run away from your comments without giving any justification or facts to back them up.
  7. Nobody STILL has put up any hard information...just blah blah blah we don't like McCain. So, I will............. http://www.ontheissues.org/2008/John_McCain_Gun_Control.htm
  8. By all means, consider him, or not, based on what he has done in the Senate. Nobody yet has put up any figures, votes, or specifics about why they won't support him, just generalities and vague comments. I did not imply "Vote for McCain JUST BECAUSE he was a POW". My point was that before you casually throw out a locker room insult like "SOB", take a full look at the whole measure of the man. Strong opinions are fine, and absolutely your right, but they should be able to be supported by research, voting record, and other information - not just because somebody Googled and found a picture of him sitting next to Hillary. If nothing else, just say "I don't like the guy and I'm not gonna vote for him...don't know why, don't know that much about him, just a gut feeling".
  9. Facts and figures to support this ? While I await your response, I might remind you that that "SOB" spent 23 years in the United States Navy, almost 6 of which were spent in a North Vietnamese POW camp where he was beaten so regularly and severely that, to this day, he can't raise his arms over his head. His NVA captors offered him early release because his father was a US Admiral, and McCain told them to F^*k off ! That says something to me about this "SOB"'s honor, and loyalty to his brother POW's.
  10. Yes. Handgun Safety Course is the official name from the state. It is the required course to get a Handgun Carry Permit, so that's what everybody calls it.
  11. The state mandates a score of at least 70% on at least a 48 round qualification course. If you shoot 48 rounds, 33 are required to be on the target, which is a (human) silhouette target. If you shoot more than 48 rounds, 70% is the minimum to qualify. You will shoot 12 rounds from 3 yards, 12 rounds from 7 yards, 12 rounds from 15 yards, and 12 or more rounds at the instructor's discretion. Generally, the shooting is done from a two handed grip at full extension. There may be a little one handed shooting involved. I have not attended the MJPD course, but I have gone through 4 other THCP courses (and teach it) and I would expect your experience will be similar to what I have described. Good luck and welcome to TGO !
