  1. The HCP video, produced and distributed by The State of Tennessee, illustrates this very point by having the simulated BG butt his cigarette and slide open an unlocked sliding glass door. No crow bar, no picking the lock, no C4, no "burglary tools" - dude slides the door open. FWIW
  2. Our January class is 17-18. $ 75.00 sticker price...discounts available. We're not in Davidson County, but then neither is G & L.
  3. I'll be in Memphis (Rangemaster) in the near future for some training. I'm looking for a cost effective, but nice, motel in a relatively safe part of town or even one of the suburbs. Close and/or easy to get to from Rangemaster would be good too. I know nada of Memphis geography, so point me in the right direction. Thanks:koolaid:
  4. In those states......Yes, you're covered by your Tennessee HCP. Make sure that when those state laws contradict Tennessee laws, follow the local version. For example, open carry is OK in Tennessee, not in Florida.

    keltec 380

Don't short stroke the trigger on follow-up shots...meaning let the trigger go all the way forward after each shot or you will get light primer strikes and failures to fire. Clean it often. It is kinda finicky about its grooming. Make sure to carry in a pocket holster (you said you've ordered it) and not loose in your pocket. Run at least 100 rounds thru it with 0 problems before you EDC it. I love mine. It's light, thin, and fast (all of which I am not ) and I may or may not have something else on me, but my P3AT is always on the scene. Congrats !!
  6. The Serpa gets a bad rap on some of the gun forums, primarily when GLOCK shooters carry in a Serpa, there's outbreaks of "GLOCK leg" Keep your finger off the bang switch and it helps immensely. I have 2 Serpas and have yet to shoot myself while presenting or holstering. I like mine. If you're a high speed "Operator" you should probably look for something else, but for 85% of Legally Armed Civilians, these will be fine. XD9 SC is a great gun, too BTW
  7. RED status ? P.S. - I hope you've got one of these while you're CC'ing and OC'ing.
  8. I talked to Grady a few days ago about doing some work on my Winchester 1200. I gotta drop that off this week !!!
  9. and + 1 EACH
  10. Bravo! Couldn't have been said any better.

    XD40sc vs. XD9sc

You've already decided, but I'll apply the icing to the cake. I carry an XD 9 SubCompact whenever it's situationally and clothing appropriate. I never feel underarmed, and I don't fret about reliability. I think you've made a fine choice. Congratulations.
  12. Now THAT'S funny !!
  13. You're in the ball park. The Supreme Court Heller decision ruled that it is an individual right to own/possess firearms. But, that vote was a 5-4 split, a little too close for most people, and you can look for Obama to appoint anti 2A Justices to the court in the future. I agree that the most likely approach they will try is to tax the *%$#@&) out of ammunition to make it less affordable and convenient to shoot. The good news, IMO, is that he's gonna be so busy with other matters in his first 2 years, he won't have time to go after the guns, and in the 2010 elections, the Republicans will make enough Congressional gains to stymie the efforts.
  14. Have you guys seen Mrs. Coach Kiffin ? She's not ugly ! :puke:
  15. All the choke should be in the last inch or two of the barrel, so, yeah, if you took 8" off the barrel, you'd be back to a cylinder bore gun. Oughta pattern fine for at least 12 yards, which should do the trick for your bedside HD gun.
  16. Nice looking gun. Congrats ................and nobody else is gonna ask, so I will - Where'd you get the Mossberg and what did it run ya ?
  17. Classy.
  18. Well said Bronker. A departure from your usual posts, many of which make me ROFL Seriously, very eloquent and well put. It would behoove all of us to slow down for a minute, look around, and consider millions of others much less fortunate. I am guilty as the next guy to whine, bitch, complain, and bellyache about things that...in the big picture...don't amount to a hill of beans when compared to the troubles of others. As you said "prioritize". Concern yourself with things that really matter. Thanks Bronker. And Tungsten, again, my condolences and God bless you and your family.
  19. How can you even begin to know what to say to something like this ? God bless you and your wife.
  20. Try Specialty Arms in La Vergne.
  21. Grout....were I a football official, I would throw a flag on your avatar. Seriously........15 yards and an automatic first down.
  22. + 1 for www.ammunitiontogo.com:koolaid:
  23. The .38 Special (formally the .38 Smith & Wesson Special) is generally considered to be a somewhat more suitable defensive round than the .380. And, a substantially better SD round than the .32. Both of the pistols you mentioned, Bersa and Kel-Tec, have good reputations, and are excellent backup or deep concealment guns. For a primary carry gun, however, I think you have done well with the 642. For range/target ammuntion, go with Winchester White Box. It's what I keep on hand, and Walmart always has it. For carry ammunition, Speer Gold Dot and Hornady FPD are considered quality defensive loads. Grains refer to the weight of the actual projectile (the bullet). It won't substantially affect the recoil in your snubnose revolver. And, in a true defensive encounter, recoil will be the LAST thing on your mind. One more thing....make sure you don't try to shoot .357 Magnum ammunition in your gun. I got your deposit check, and am looking forward to seeing you in class.
  24. "You have sat too long for any good you have been doing ... Depart, I say; and let us have done with you. In the name of God, go!"Oliver Cromwell....April, 1638, as he dissolved Parliament. Some things never change.
