Thank you, sir.

Thanks guys. Besides St. Jude doing great work, this memorial tribute fund really is a special, emotional thing for my Dad.

As some of you may know, my family and I are pretty regular supporters of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis. My Dad has established a memorial fund at St. Jude in honor of his late wife, who died in 2004 in a traffic accident. She was just 49 years old. Anyway, if you have a few extra bucks laying around, please consider hitting this link to make a memorial donation to St. Jude St. Jude Tribute:. Donations as small as $ 5.00 can be made, and would be very much appreciated. We're trying to get to $ 500 by Valentine's Day. If you can help, please do. Thanks !!

Tennessee Tech offering First Responder Course (FREE) starting January 31, 2011 First Responder Course | Tennessee Tech University I am a Tennessee Certified First Responder, and I would highly encourage anyone who can work this into their schedule to take advantage of this opportunity. Even if you don't care to pay the fees or take the National Registry test for certification, the information value of this course is worth your time investment.

FREE First Responder Training Starts January 31, 2011 First Responder Course | Tennessee Tech University

TRAINING As Jonsaiga says, take a course if you're going to get involved in first aid matters. I am a Certified First Responder, and will complete EMT school in about 8 weeks. I have learned the veracity of the old adage "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing." At the very minimum, an 8 hour Red Cross CPR & First Aid course. Even better, if you can do it, is a First Responder course. Around 60 hours in Tennessee, and can be found for free from time to time at Fire Departments and EMS agencies. Your role in a medical emergency will boil down to this - don't make it any worse than you found it and just buy time until advanced help can get to you. It's all about the ABC'S - Airway, Breathing, and Circulation. Air goes in and out, blood goes round and round, any variation on this is bad. TRAINING - You can have a suitcase full of bandages, dressings, meds, airway adjuncts, splints, AED, suction device, etc. but not knowing how to use the stuff makes you just as ineffective as you would be otherwise.

Agreed. The prosecution apparently thought the gloves would be a grand slam, but the defense knew it was a wrapped gift on a silver platter for them. Cochran even had time to craft his brilliant "If it doesn't fit, you must acquit !" line. Leather gloves that had once been moist and then placed in extended storage (read-shrinkage) tried on over latex gloves by an actor who "acted" like he was struggling valiantly to get them on, while in reality stalling and obstructing the fitting. The jury bought it hook, line, and sinker. A grievous error by Clark and Darden.

I have a string of tracks in the snow in the yard this morning. They are individual tracks, tear drop shaped. Each one goes all the way to the ground (snow is about 3" here). They are not in pairs or quads. It looks like somebody on a pogo stick went through the yard. What critter or beast made these tracks ?

Soldiers Coming Home to Surprise Their Loved Ones

I can't watch these anymore.....they make my eyes leak. -
Straw man argument.......other than the 12/6 example. First, if you're in your own home then HCP status (or not) is totally moot. Secondly, if a chainsaw-equipped assailant is trying to "hack (you) to pieces", then that is clearly a justified self-defense shoot - no matter the time, location, how many drinks you've had, what you're wearing, etc.

You're wrong. McWherter's ad is wrong. Federal law prohibits convicted felons from being in possession of a firearm - GCA 1968 - regardless of the state of residence's permitting procedures (or lack of). The states you mention also forbid convicted felons from carrying guns. There are already plenty of felons "pretending to be good guys" carrying guns. That was illegal 10 years ago, and 2 years ago, and today. You put up a straw man argument. A change in the HCP law won't affect the crooks, they have never bothered to follow the law. How will the police know, you ask ? Good guys wear white cowboy hats and bad guys wear black ones.
-
You're exactly right Eliminator.............the ad is completely misleading and disingenuous. McWherter is trying to avoid a 70-30 landslide. I don't think he will do it.
-
His name is Haslam, and that is not at all what he said. He said "if" the General Assembly voted to abandon the permitting process, he would sign it, BUT his preference would be to leave the process the way it is currently in place. Misinformation and half-truths like this one are a major pet peeve of mine. Vote for who you want, but make sure you know what they really said, and what you are talking about instead of just repeating what you "heard".

Armed Security Guard Licensing courses
BigPoppa replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
You do not have to be currently employed by a security company to take the class or be registered by the State. Simply put "N/A" whenever it asks for your company. -
