But isn't there something wrong with a Congress that will pass a National Carry Law, subscribe to abide by the 2nd Admendment, and forbid citizens to carry of Federal property?!?
-
A lot of the comments seem to mirror the Shooting Times article.....not a fan of the KEL-TEC and the others were very good.
-
The FEB '12 edition of Shooting Times (i know it is only Dec.) has a very thorough article covering the Kahr P, Kel-Tec P-3AT, Ruger LCP,S&W B'Guard, and Taurus TCP. The only one that did not fare very well is the Kel-Tec. The most expensive, S&W and Kahr were favored, but LCP and TCP were also favorably reviewed. It really now comes to price. I have a LCP. Let's be real, these guns are made to carry and not shoot. They have to be reliable, and have pointability accuracy. If we had a choice we would all have a shotgun if the SHTF, but these little guns beat throwing rocks.

did a bunch of research when I bought mine. For the money I'd go with the Bushnell Elite 4200
-
No, just one that works correctly...and in a desirable way. The Model 12 Winchester was promoted with that such a feature and it is one many manufacturers tried to emulate. Mostly due to the smoothness of action. The Remington Wingmaster, arguably one of the smoothest of pumps is also noted for it. In fact, after a shot you can almost chamber another shell with a quick wrist snap downward. Remember......I said 'almost'.

It is perfectly normal.

What brand of safe do you have now?
-
Find a Bushnell Elite 4200. You can pay more, but will have to go way up the scale to do better.

#1 is situational awareness, but stuff still happens. Statistically, leaving your present location with an attacker is a certain bad outcome. Yes, this was an exception, but I think at the initial point one has to became violently agressive. Better shot, stabbed etc at a crowded mall than raped, beaten, stabbed or shot at a secluded location. Besides the perp is caught by surprise and loses control of the situation with a violent response. Just sayin', that's the training I have received and makes sense to me.. -
Glad this guy lives in Florida...

As with Caster, some of these folks really creep me out and do nothing that is beneficial to the CC concept and gun ownership in general. If you don't say anything, people probably won't know how stupid you are.....but to put it on youtube...wow. -

I'm not saying there isn't, but I don't know of any that run a noted training center/program. -
Very nice post. I have a Remington R1. Very good, standard 1911 that I have put several thousand rounds through. Very reliable, and an excellent carry gun if you want a 1911. It is 'combat' accurate.

I understand that completely. Never said I agreed with Piratenews; what I did say is that I appreciate the leeway granted by the Mod. for discussion purposes. Not arguing one bit about his authority to discontinue the privilege as he has done.
-
Yeah, but I didn't pay more than 5 bucks for any one item. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.
-
OK, maybe I have one gun too many, But would like to hear some novel ways of storing the multiple holsters, mags, mag carriers, etc. that fill a bushel basket now.
-
Wow, piratenews, tell us how you really feel. That said, I don't take everything I've heard or read through the media as fact. Piratenews obviously has an agenda and I disagree with him almost entirely.....but I would like to know the facts and I am sure they will come out eventually. It is certainly a life changing event for all involved, and the blame has to be laid on the deceased; his actions obviously led to a tragic event. Additionally, kudos to the mod. for keeping the post........unlike some other forums, freedom of speech is as important as any of our other freedoms.

There are several 'smiths at Coal Creek Armory. Between them they have seen and worked on about everything. Would take my older guns there. Predator is great, but my impression is that they are involved more in modern firearms, tactical specialties, etc. , but that's just my feeling, both have quality reputations.

I have a Colt Combat Commander (70 series) and a Remington R1. The Colt is 'sexy', the R1 a work horse. In function, both are equal. For the money though, I'd pick the R1.

I recently finished the Advanced Hand Gun Fighting course with Suarez International. Earlier this year I took 2 Defensive Handgun Courses at Front Sight. Each was a fantastic experience and certainly enhanced my skill level. If you have the chance, I would highly recommend either, but Randy Harris with Suarez is a super instructor (as well as an excellent marksman). He has classes within driving distance of most of us. Is it expensive?? Relative term; how much is your life or that of your family worth? Or the liability of a stray shot from poor bullet placement? The saying goes that when the SHTF, your skill abilities drop by 50%..........are you twice as good as you need to be now?? -
ADVANCED Close Range Gunfighting Nov12-13 CHATTANOOGA TN

If you have been wondering about taking a class with Suarez Int. and especially Randy Harris, by all means do so. Randy is one of those instructors that can walk the talk, along with being down to earth and helpful as an instructor. He has a wealth of knowledge to share and he will help increase your proficiency and confidence in your skills. I took the Advanced Close Range Gunfighting course this past weekend. Met some great guys, worked hard, and had a blast. To those of you who have not had a formal training program, you must do yourself a favor and find out what you really don't know. I mean, there is much more to responsible handgun carry and shooting than what most people think. A HCP class is the equivalent to getting one's drivers license.....it is just the beginning and a class such as those offered by Suarez will open your eyes to a new level of shooting and will be an enjoyable time as well. -
Been to several schools, shot thousands of rounds through a R1. It is not fancy, but it works. I don't think you can go wrong with it.

Train, Train and keep on training with your CCW.

Actually this is a great video and the libs have just helped us prove out point......one armed 'guard', officer, etc. cannot protect the public. BUT, an armed society, meaning muliple people in the classroom, would have quickly put this threat to rest...permnamently! -

I've shot all my life, but until I took formal training, just did not realize what I didn't know. Definitely get the training. You owe it to yourself if you have made the decision to carry. From what I have researched Suarez is a quality program. I have been to Front Sight and can recommend it as well, especially if you pick up the $100 certificate for their 4 Day course. Point is, quality training will have some costs, but I bet you will definitely enjoy it and will be glad you did. But as mentioned, be careful, it is addicting.
