have a Kahr CM9, but prefer my Taurus 709. I shoot it a little better, probably because the barrel is a touch longer. Prefer the thumb safety, as the Kahr does not have one. Money wasn't an issue, but the 709 is a little cheaper. Both have been 100% reliable.

If you are ever going to shoot the gun......quit worrying about it. It's clean, give it a little oil, and start on another one.

I have a CM9. Fully loaded it is a little heavy as a pocket gun, but, I can and do carry in a jacket with the DeSantis Nemesis holster. Occasionally I will carry in loose pant pockets again with the holster. I much prefer my LCP for pocket carry. Fury makes as small and low profile as any for belt carry and you can get J hooks to convert to an ISWB and tuckable.

Does Gov't know what firearms you have?

What makes anyone think the 'guvmit' can track anything, especially from years ago. And if they did, it would take an enormous amount of manpower and time......plus they got to track over 300 million weapons and who knows how many transfers that involves. :puke: -
There is no 'one' right choice; that's why there are so many choices. Since this is your first purchase, you obviously have not shot much, and therefore a 9mm would make sense to me, and would be easier for your wife to join you at the range more often as well. No big significant difference in the XD and XDm. You will find fans of both, but the XDm will cost you at least $100 more, and that could be spent on practice ammo. By the way, either is a fine gun and will serve you well, but if you want a carry gun, they are a little large, and a whole different debate. Personally the M&P sheild is a very good compromise if you can find one.

But if we don't help the NRA, they can't help us, and WE are the NRA. We all have to stick together and if everyone would simply send $5 it would make a big difference.

I have purchased several guns and a bunch of ammo from Northern Firearms. Great service. Example XD9 ordered today in the 'essential' package.....$419 delivered.

I'm a fan of the Fury as well. Very high and tight and a very smooth profile. Got one for my Sig 1911 and was really pleased with fit and the significant difference vs. other Kydex. Plus they are made in Knoxville.

I've been very happy with the one Academy carries with their logo on it. $35.

just finished my on-line chat with CTD. Was told they were 'out' of guns. I told them that daily I receive emails for shopping that stated differently, my disappointment in the company and if they were bailing on the firearms community, I was bailing on them.......took my name off their regular mail and email. Asked the gal to share that with management. I think we all need to stick together, buty CTD obviously doesn't . Would encourage everyone to do the same and remember those that do; and those that don't.

Conn. has some of the most rigid gun laws in the country. The mom of the shooter is getting a lot of criticism due to the shooter/son getting access to the guns she owned. Has anyone heard whether or not she had the guns under lock and key? My guess is she did, except for the .22 she was shot in the face with. Maybe then the son was able to get access to otherwise securely kept firearms. Anyway, my gun, your gun, her guns, are not the issue. No one that is sane would even think of such atrocities. Maybe BHO can get his liberal hollywood buddies to quit making violent movies and video games that pollute our 'kinder and gentler' nation. Maybe he can lower the divorce/broken family issues, maybe he can get God back into our schools.

this is a mental health issue, not a gun issue. No one in their right mind would do any of these shootings.
-
No OB doc in his right mind would give you permission in writing. If the baby is not 'perfect' any lawyer would have a cake walk taking him to the cleaners. While no range is going to tell you there are problems, all have some airborne lead. I would not risk my unborn child's hearing or health. If something showed up later on, you would certainly have some 'what ifs".

Disarmed in a traffic stop
chances R replied to tennessee01tacoma's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I think it is a given that we are surrounded by idiots........IF I was LEO, and until I think I know all I need to know about the people I have stopped, I can't say I wouldn't do the same thing. I'll give LEO the benefit of doubt, traffic stops are initially high risk affairs, so I'll leave it to their judgement and proceed as directed. All I ask for it respect and courtesy....both ways. -
CTD, but they make up for it in shipping and handling costs. For what they normally charge for S&H they should of at least refunded the handling......cause all they did was ship.

Mobil 1 5W and Lubriplate. If in a hurry or need a little lube Hornady One Shot for convenience.

7 year old boy shot dead outside gun store.
chances R replied to Jesse's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Terrible tragedy, and punishment enough with the loss of a son that the father is responsible for. Prayers for the family for the lifelong guilt they will carry. Let it be a lesson for others. Everyday in a gun shop you can see many violate the 4 gun rules and nothing is said. We all need to insist that everyone follow those rules in our presence. NO EXCUSES. You can see it with hunters and shooters at all levels Complacency is the enemy and we ALL must follow the rules and practice what we preach. I'm sorry for the loss, but the father had to violate 3 rules: Always treat every gun as if it was loaded. Never point it at anything you are not willing to shoot. Keep your finger OFF the trigger until you are on the target and ready to shoot. Unfortunately someone else will still have to re-learn the rules somewhere....sometime. -

Poll - On your carry gun; Safety or no Safety?
chances R replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
#3 because I carry several different guns, depending on activity and clothing, or possible encounters. Its kind of funny how the mind works in that I can't recall any operator confusion with the controls of any of my firearms. I have switched shotguns many times from, top mounted tang safties, push button in front or behind trigger guard, to double trigger side by sides to a few target guns without an operating safety. I think it all comes down to between the ears and familiarity with your platforms. -

Where would you shoot.......head or body
chances R replied to chances R's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
With cold weather, heavy coats, thick clothing, close quarters, I've debated whether it is appropriate to shoot an attacker in the head vs. the body. In general the head shot is regarded as a failure to stop. With the previous factors, and also consider small caliber, do you think there is more legal risk just going for the head shot initially?
Should have anticipated the debate I quess. I really don't care how or where YOU shoot, or what you think my abilities are. My question was simply noted and reposted in BOLD. I haven't seen or read anything that obligates one to shoot COM before going for the head. -

chances R replied to chances R's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
The question is more for a legal discussion, you know, excessive force vs. stop the attack. I have had considerable training from the holster for head box shots. The majority of my shots with IDPA will also be head shots. Just wanted to see what the general feeling was. -
