haven't seen those pics before. Interesting. I don't know if my buddy made any pics or not. His explanation is everything went down through the trigger group.....in pieces. He didn't mention anything that would suggest a squibb load; plus if that were the case the barrel would have split.

Yes, I agree it c o u l d have been a mistake on that one cartridge, but this guy is pretty careful, works around machinery, table saws, etc and still has all his fingers; and they are full length :). Also recently heard of two 9mm glocks blowing up with commercial reloads. So I don't know. It seems odd that I seem to only hear this about glocks, but hey, there are a lot of them out there.

Just a report of another Glock Kabooom. Neighbor is a new reloader, but not a dummy. His 40 blew up (or down would be more appropriate) using a middle of the range loading in FMJ. Fortunately wasn't hurt. He doesn't believe it was set back, as none of the remaining loads can be pushed in. He pulled the remaining rounds and all measured powder was correct. Don't know.....could have been shi..........happens or a mistake. But nothing looks out of line, except the gun.

Didn't this plant burn down recently? Was this video made before or after the fire? Sorry, don't know the dates, just heard the 'rumor'.

I Know Where There Is Tons Of Ammo For Sale,,,But
chances R replied to frankmako's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
heard this same story almost a month ago. So it is true. Haven't been there in a while, haven't missed anything and won't be going again anyway now. -
Glock?.......Not according to KPD

I've already seen several 1911's being carried

1. I am still getting a small sliver, or ribbon of lead at the base of of 230gr RN reloads. I have belled the mouth out to 0,454-0.455 and the bullet 'sets' easily in this. I am careful to set the bullet straight as it enters the seating die. (Redding) In fact the case rubs, the die, for the lack of a better description as it enters the die. OAL is set for 1.255 Should I be concerned? They do go easily into case checker and the taper crimp is set at 0.468. Using the Lee FCD. 2. How often do you clean your dies, and with what.

Yeah, but 400 perfect rounds per hour let me shoot a lot more

For anyone that has an interest, visit their web site. DON'T pay list price! Many people have certificates and lifetime memberships available.......(yes, I do). These can be had for as little as $100. Most of these allow you to attend classes as many times as you want, forever. When you consider most instruction is hundreds of dollars a day, this cannot be beat. I stay in Pahrump, which is only about 20 minutes from the range, and motels are about $50 a nite with free breakfast buffet. Share the room with a buddy and your costs go down. Rental car about $100/wk. Ammo and plane fare your biggest expense. Air runs about $400 round trip. I have gone on many fishing and hunting trips and enjoy my trips to FS as much as anything. But beware, these are full 8 hr days of training and they will wear you out.

Now is a tough time to jump into the reloading due to lack of supply of components. I have the Hornady LNL, and you can run it as a single stage until comfortable with your results..then you are set to progressive reloading. I think each machine, caliber, and bullet type has its nuances. If you are going to shoot a lot, and looking for a hobby, jump in.

Planning on a trip to Front Sight in May to take their Advanced Tactical Handgun Class. Will take some family and friends for other classes at that time. As I have posted before, this is a great facility and excellent training. Many LEO, especially in that area have attended multiple classes there. Also the 4 Day Defensive HG class is their main and busiest course. Especially good for the new shooter to get started right. If you have and interest would be glad to answer your questions.

I have a low mounted 2x7 scope that makes it difficult to reach with my right hand. In a rush in certain positions would be much more efficient to be able to use my right hand rather than have to come completely out of the gun.

yeah, and there is one owned by Frank Nicely in the Historical Museum here in Knoxville. It is made by Russel Bean who holds the title of the 1st white child born in TN. I also have an article somewhere showing a Judge from upper ETN holding one. All the Beans were regarded as gunsmiths back in their day. I can tell you that they used up all that talent because I never got any of it.

I use a Taurus PT709 routinely and have recommended it to several others. Good carry piece. While it is not the M&P shield, especially the trigger, it is a clone.

Just came upon this old, old thread. I am a Bean decendent as well. Any recent reports of Bean rifles or reproductions?

It all looks good, based on your numbers. IMO it does vary a little with the hopper level, and vibration being the biggest influence. I would accept what you are getting, especially with that size of charge.

I will try and post a picture later. Use 2pieces of 15" 1.5" in. dia. PVC connected in the middle with a 'T'. Use two of these for the base. In the "T" that points up, put in another 15" ppe with a T glued to the top end. The open, top part of the T will hold furring strip, the cross, open T runs over to the other base. The cross pipe is also 15". These can be glued or simply pressed fitted so they come apart for transportation. I carry mine in a laundry bag. Much lighter and convenient than 2x4s. I simply staple cardboard to the upright furring strips and then attach my targets to the cardboard. They are big enough to use standard IDPA targets or smaller. http://i908.photobucket.com/albums/ac282/sbbean/Targetstand.jpg

NO, really, we are friendly and here to help. All you have to do is knock on anyone's door......probably best between 1am - 3am. Be sure and have the camera ready. Pretty sure you will see plenty of guns to take a picture of. :usa: PS. I bet my flash is bigger than your flash..........

Try the J hook on a fury holster. It is very slim and can go OWB.
-
Why wait.........you can shoot without a permit

Thanks for keeping the economy going..... :usa:

OK, maybe time to eat a little crow? I bashed my Sig 1911 pretty good. On the advice of some on this forum sent my barrel to Tim Calhoun. What a great guy! Helped with getting my reloads more to spec. But he also did a little throat work on the barrel. This morning (yes, it was cold) went through about 150 rounds of mixed brass, LRN,LSWC, JFP, and JRN without any problems. So hopefully things stay this way, and am a big fan of Tim's.

Kid's Photo Leads To Attempted NJ Police Home Invasion
chances R replied to gun sane's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
And essentially a false report and no consequences for it according to the Child and Family Service. Geez......that's OK, it's OK for the cops to lie and try an unlawful search.
