Not really.....the liberal media always likes to highlight some of Stacey's  uh, uh,  lighter moments.  I like him because he will act independently and will take a stance.  Certainly not part of the establishment.  Plus, he is a strong 2nd Amendment guy.

supposedly Haslam feels that local gov. has a feel for what is best for its constituents.  I think the governor needs to remember that these are the peoples' park, not the city's.  Also I watched Mr. Campfield handle this Bill and the questions with a cool, logical, and knowledgeable manner.  I'm glad I voted for him and will do so again.

The only point I would make is that if one is outside in extremely cold weather, teens and lower, there may be a noticeable decrease in recoil and velocity.  Especially if one is using 'lite' loads.  I have not seen it with pistols, but have seen it plenty of times with shotguns, esp. autoloaders to the point of malfunctions both from gun squib type ammo malfunction.  Again with shotguns, ballisticians recommend NOT loading shotgun ammo with a lup under 9000 for cold weather use.  Would imagine some similar thoughts with pistol ammo.  However, I would bet most factory SAMMI spec ammo there is no need to worry, but don't expect factory spec results in cold weather.

Going to have to call BS on that one.

Just an update on the Taurus.  Written letter sent 2 weeks ago.  They are not any faster replying to letters than they are fixing my gun. 

Video on the news last nite.  Clerk was alert and ready.  In the video it is hard to tell if the BG had a gun or not as he withdrew his hand from his right pocket.  Definitely had something in his hand, but from the video just not that clear.  Clerk didn't shoot, BG still on the loose but I bet he had to change his underwear.

Having ran Field Trials and Hunt tests with retrievers for over 20 years, I am fairly familiar with buying, breeding, and training retrievers.  First off, goldens are fine pets, but as mentioned they do have some genetic problems which can be minimized by selective breeding.  Check the breeding for hip and eye certifications at a minimum.  Also the 'magic' time to get a pup is 7 wks.  After that they are simply learning 'dog' stuff.  The best dogs learn 'people' stuff early.   These folks may be of assistance: http://www.mtarc.org/contact.html

Recently the other mall shootings were in San Diego and 2 separate incidents in NJ.  Add this one and those are basically 'gun free' zones because of their strict gun laws.  How's that workin' out for everyone?  IMO just a matter of time until terrorists pull an event like the one in Kenya here in the USA.

I don't care if it is with a .22, still plenty fast.....but then again almost impossible with a .22..........can't find that much ammo :cool:

I handled one today and I think you hit the nail on the head.  It is a very good shooter, and seems operator friendly, more so than the LCP.  I won't be getting rid of my LCP, as it does fit the pocket better than the 42, but for a small carry gun, esp. for a woman's first gun, it just may be the ticket.

Yeah, quality does cost more.  I understand all guns of all makes have problems from time to time, just like anything mechanical.  But what really got me thinking is that the barrel quality has to really be questioned if the headspace changed enough to give light primer strikes and they recognized it.  And it is not like this gun has had even a thousand rounds through it.  Like eric said, it seemed to be a good idea....almost a clone of the Shield.  Just thought I would fulfill my promise to Taurus that I would be sure and let others know of my experience. :rant:

I've had a PT709 'Slim' for several years.  Thought it was a decent gun, convenient to carry and actually shot very well.  Always functioned.......until 3-4 months ago.  Started having light primer strikes.  At first a rare happening, but  unreliable none the less.  Then much more frequent.  Well as you know they have a lifetime warranty.  Sent it back (my dime).  They have had it a little over 3 months now.  I've called once a month because the online repair tracker says they are awaiting parts.  First, last month they finally said they were waiting on a barrel.  Now this month a new striker assembly.  I know this stuff comes from Brazil, but enough is enough; especially enough of Taurus.  It was a good reason to go and buy the S&W Shield, but I'm finished with Taurus, nor would I recommend someone buy one, unless you truly have a lifetime to wait on parts and turnaround.

From the TWRA website/regulations   I personally don't think either is a good idea.....how many have friends that hunt with them, or others erroneously stray onto their land?   (www.tnwildlife.org). Landowners and their children hunting on their parent’s land under this exemption are also exempt from Hunter Education Certification requirements and blaze orange requirements

While the landowner/family doesn't have to have a state license, if they hunt waterfowl they must have a Fed.Duck Stamp.  I also believe they have to conform to all other regs, such as seasons, bag limits, and wearing orange.

I advocate always trying to retreat and avoid confrontation if possible and one can do so safely.  Just because you have a gun does not make you the automatic winner.  However, when one does not have a choice, hopefully, the bad guy suffers the consequences of 'poor victim selection'.

hornady LNL.   You can use various dies.  I run the Redding Pro Series dies in 9mm and 45 ACP, a RCBS lockout die, and the Lee Factory Crimp Die.  The Lee is optional, but I like it and since I have started using it, seems I have had few, if any, ammo related feed problems.  A set of electronic scales and calipers should make you good to go.

JayC, I understand where you are coming from.......and I have mixed feelings that I argue with myself.  On one hand, constitutional carry on one's property or car is one thing.  But I know a ton of people that have a HCP that really make me nervous knowing they carry in public places.  On that point, a tiered system would include a mandatory training/ range time to increase the proficiency of one that would actually carry in public.
