  1. I carry for the most likely.......we are surrounded by crazy people..........just read the paper or watch the news.
  2.   If I am not mistaken, long guns are different, especially in contiguous states.
  3. Federal
  4. The use of tape initially is a training device.  He is having difficulty initially with keeping both eyes open, this trains the dominate eye to be more effective.  In fact, not everyone CAN shoot with both eyes open.  Some recommend a slight squint of the off eye to help.  Point shooting is not the answer.  The front sight is still very important, even in gunfighting situations.
  5. Just watched it last nite......I gotta get me some more bullets.
  6.   The video is misleading, but not wrong.  It does instruct one to hand over the permit with your license, but it does not say you are required to do so.  I can see why you have your question though.  Some states require you to inform the officer at first contact if you possess a weapon, but not TN.  In most cases it is probably a good idea to do so, but it is your option in TN.
  7. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/80911-great-evaluation-of-lubes-and-rust-preventatives/   I have used the Hornady One Shot.
  8. Place a small piece of frosted tape over the middle of your left lens.
  9. Wait until dark-thirty, new can of wasp and hornet killer. flashlight in one hand, and spray entrance hole non-stop. Has worked every time for me.
  10. Your immediate actions seem correct from your accounting.  Possibly being a little better witness with details may be helpful in this circumstance.  That of course means sticking around if needed.  Let's play 'what if'  an employee had been stabbed...etc.  The information you provided may be crucial in follow-up arrests.
  11. But it could be a problem in a Civil Case. Additionally, the predictable gun shot residue from factory ammo is documented and predictable. Possibly a factor that may save your butt and support your defense. Just because it has never happened, doesn't mean it can't.
  12. Ran across this very informative thread on another forum.  Answers the age old question of 'what is best' in the world of lubes with a seemingly factual, well-done, objective testing of some of the most common products on the market.    http://thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=546316
  13. Go to the Tactical Advantage Corp. website.  Located in Knoxville.  Check out the schedule for classes.
  14. Montana Gold makes a jacketed gold bullet.
  15. Met a great bunch of fellow shooters today. Randy is an excellent instructor who can provide you with the info you need for practical pistol fighting in the most common of encounters one could be involved in. Thanks to Randy and all that provided the opportunity for this class,
  16. Yep, Im still waiting for $10/9mm and $15/45ACP
  17. It is training, and therefore valuable....to a degree.  I liken it to 'feathers in your cap".  The more feathers the better.  It is through your experience and additional training that it becomes more significant.  On the other hand, at least the NRA is one of those recognized 'good-housekeeping seals', and therefore can be beneficial.
  18. Yes, as CHL said, 22s are fine and I much prefer new shooters and especially women with little or no experience use them. My objective is to have shooters successfully complete the class. Hopefully they will continue shooting and eventually chose a weapon they will be satisfied as well as proficient with.
  19. This is something, as a S&W armorer, that I have done a half dozen times with ease. I would expect a gunsmith to be able to so it with one hand tied behind his back.
  20. CM9 is OK....but pretty tough trigger.  Don't think I would be shooting +P+ even as a defensive load in a small pistol.  Waste of time, larger muzzle flash and slow 2nd shot.  More wear and tear on the small frame.  My guess is there is little difference in MV  and certainly even less downrange difference given the short barrel.
  21. Apex has excellent install videos of all of their products.  That won't help you on the sights though.
  22. B-29 target The target specified is the B-29 target, a reduced size version of the B-27 silhouette target. Only hits within the silhouette are counted. Each hit within, or cutting, the seven ring counts as two points, hits within the silhouette count as one point. Any hits outside the silhouette are counted as zero. Since the B-29 is less than half the size of the B-27, this is a more challenging course of fire than most State courses. Total of 20 rounds fired at 3yds, 20 at 5yds, and 10 at 7yds. Passing score 70 or better.
  23. Stuck in traffic........one can still get out of the car. Is it the 'manly' thing to do, so what? Sheet metal damage vs. court defense expense? Not hard to figure out. Remember the qualifiers for justification of deadly force..Proximity and ability. Duty of retreat, NO. But ego and common sense aswell as consequences/aftermath are realities. As mentioned, every situation is different but it is good to give some thought and discussion to different circumstances.
  24. Willie that is not a bad thing...unless you are repeatedly drawing and re-holstering. As far as EDC, hopefully I am not drawing my gun....and if I do fast re-holstering is not needed.
