  1. Smokey Mountain Knife Works has some.
  2. Then IF it does go to a civil suit, AND the court finds the shoot was justified, the defendent would be due reimbursement for all expenses.  Given the details, doubtful any attorney would take it on IMO.   Secondly, mom has to blame someone.....she is certainly not going to take responsibility; never has before evidently.

  4.     Well just goes to show......apple doesn't fall far from the tree.  :shake:    Totally unnecessary for civilian training.
  5. During an early morning robbery in East Knoxville. No details given yet.
  6. Might want to double check the campus carry. My impression is Federal law for campus carry is limited to in-state issued permits only....not reciprocal.
  7. Got it all wrong......just savin' her energy for the main event
  8. Then it doesn't appear there will be a problem. As long as she is within the 6 mos. for the course, shows up and is 21, has a birth certificate, pays the cash, submits prints, I bet she has permit in hand before she leaves.
  9. .........there are those that certainly benefit from a good HCP class.  When one can and cannot use deadly force, etc. etc.  but obviously from the OP we need some sort of mandatory keyboard training before one posts on the internet, and especially on TGO :stir:
  10. Yep.......this is the way to go.
  11. Does she leave before her birthday?  Not sure taking the class helps that much if she has not completed the process at the full service center before she leaves.  She will have to do so in person and they will not process her until she is 21.  Then finger prints and wait time for permit.  She cannot carry until she has her permit in hand.
  12. Big difference; these are made with TLC.
  13. You're just too cheap to shoot someone with a 'respectable' bullet......
  14. Just for the sake of argument, a taser or some other device may be preferable in domestic situations where one simply is unwilling to use a deadly weapon.
  15. Must not have gotten too squirrelly with a 96. Did you mean to say 3 and 5 yds?
  16. Would I use my reloads.....Yes, if that was the only choice I had.  Choice being key here.  If factory loads are the 'standard' issue by most LE agencies, then that is good enough for me.  Plus add that an expert like Massad and others, based on their courtroom experience also support factory ammo, well again that's good enough for me.   Actually when I asked 'what improvements' were wanting to be made in the reloaded ammo for self-defense I was doing a little fishing.  If indeed it was bigger, badder, faster, more deadly, etc. etc. then I think a post/goal to that point could be used against one in legal proceedings.  Just my opinion.  It is not always the concern of a civil suit, but whether that line of thinking could be used by a prosecutor pressing charges or not. For my money and my opinion, I would trust factory defense ammo for dependability, performance, and legal purposes, be they real or imaginary.
  17. This time of year may have fallen victim to a bush hog. Parts then carried off by all the above.
  18. So what exactly are you looking to improve? You know there are highly skilled ballistitians with considerale resources that do that for a living.
  19. John Sevier Range off Rifle Range Road
  20. Awareness and Preparedness is a good combo.  End result nobody hurt and no shots fired, but always call the police.  That might increase patrols in the area and save someone else.
  21. Your experience with is not uncommon.  Varies with equipment and powder types.  My Hornady works very well.  It throws 5 grains of unique spot on.  But I do use a baffle.  Also I think it helps if you consistently set your powder drop by screwing in  the stop; not going back and forth.  One last try for persistent problems is attach a small aquarium air pump to the powder hopper.  The constant vibration may give you the result you are looking for.  The pumps are very cheap.
  22. Last time I went turkey hunting- same place we hog hunt- I saw a boar as big as a VW.  I swore then I would always take my 280 rather than a 223.
  23. First, some velocity will be lost to cylinder gap vs. solid test barrel.  Secondly, doubt the subject on the receiving end is going to tell you which is which.  But am awaiting the chrono results.
  24. Maybe, but the circumstances I think, put the shooting in a much more favorable light.  The attacker's initial intent and then aggressive move towards the rescuer would make any reasonable person in fear of life/injury.  Now if he ran away.....whole different story.  I don't think one has to wait to see a knife or feel that you are on the losing end of an attack before shooting.  In fact, that kind of delay, and weighing all the pros and cons may be the difference in whether you shoot or not and thus live or not.
