  1. the dot and open sights do exactly the same thing....they simply tell you where your muzzle is pointed. I would argue the dot does that quicker and more accurately. If one is having trouble 'finding the dot' , it is generally a fault of grip.
  2. Ameriglo Haven. I have two and several friends have them as well. Use my in IDPA and no issues.
  3. Had an R1 that was a fine pistol. Took a couple of classes with 600 rd count, never an issue. Gave it to my son. Colt Combat Commander now is owned by grandson. Told him when he could handle it, Lock slide back etc it was his.
  4. Teaching carry classes was something I really enjoyed. I was raised hunting/ shooting, but went to Front Sight and did a 4 day defensive handgun course. I sucked, especially when I saw the difference when someone really could shoot a handgun skillfully. Long story short, I’ve had hundreds of hours of training and I enjoyed helping new shooters. On thing I learned, you don’t know what you don’t know.
  5. Me neither, but he wouldn’t have liked the pepper spray….but then again preferable to getting shot in the belly.
  6. One cannot legally carry in any park in TN without permit. If an employee of a post secondary school in TN one must have the ECP to do so with other stipulations as well. It is against Federal law to be in a school zone or on school property without a permit. Plus the benefit of out of state carry as noted. Possible informal benefits when dealing with LEO, SD shooting, etc.
  7. Just for the record, as an instructor I have had people fail the shooting part. But I’ve had people show up with NIB guns and never fired a gun before.
  8. Ever been on social media?
  9. Sign up for quality classes. Not sure what you have available in your area. Would seek Rangemaster certified instructor as a benchmark.
  10. Concealed means concealed until we live in a more favorable world, but you still have a choice to enter or not.
  11. M&P shield and compact models......with or without safety. Reasonable price, US company, TN company.
  12. That’s really a shame, but they all had to know better. Attorney fees and loss of firearms’ rights is devastating to this group.
  13. If it were me, I would hang onto the vintage shells....nice collector item.
  14. yep, there is a reason the gun had two recoil pads...
  15. I was at the Grand opening.....what a great event. Even enjoyed the speeches. Uncle Si with Duck Dynasty gave the invocation. Maryville PD color guard did the honors and National Anthem. Lt. Gov Randy McNally and Rep. Sexton presented as well. Rep Burchett led the pledge. Overall a great event. Multiple vendors were there with good discounts. Many food vendors. Country Music stars and shooting demos. Shot 6 different S&W firearms in their indoor range. Quite an event.
  16. You'll be happy with either one. If I could only have one gun, it would be the M&P 45.
  17. If you have "the card" and it says handgun carry permit, looks like your driver's license, then you are good to go. I recommend you do your renewal in '26 and I believe the cost is $50 and can do it online/mail.
  18. If you didn’t take the 8 hr course, you don’t have what Nebraska honors.
  19. Most all of these questions start with the DA. It is his initial opinion that counts.
  20. Not guilty verdict will lead ( or should) invalidate the discharge case. At least that’s the way in works in TN by statute.
  21. There is at least one well Known trainer that does not allow 320 s in his class unless it has gone through recall.
  22. In general shotguns are not drop safe. There is no sear block. That is why they are carried in car or stored cruiser ready.
  23. Yes, past 2 days they have been absent. Expect the main push is over-will be a few stragglers.
  24. Private schools can also establish their own policies. Public and private schools are school property at all times...in session or not.
  25. Good show with respected instructors and shooters. We are fortunate to have Randy available in our backyard for quality instruction. Also That Weems Guy hosts a really good podcast.
