Some 9mm not fitting in case gauge.
chances R replied to battleop's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Run your finger over crimp mouth and feel for a difference of the edge of the case mouth. The ones that don't go flush may need slightly more of a taper crimp. -
I don't believe we will ever see a perfect gun, but the LCP comes close for what IMO is a small, pocket, get-off-me gun for up-close personal distances. No sights needed, adrenaline pumped safe trigger pull, and minimal round capacity dictated by size. Is it pretty and high tech, no. But I don't see the advantages of the changes or increase in costs. My original LCP is more than adequate and with only minimal sight alignment quite accurate inside of 10 yds. But like all firearms, personal choice.

You could chance letting your permit 'expire'....and reapply after Jan 1 for the lifetime permit at the new $200 rate. You still have 6 mos from expiration date to renew without having to take the class over............of course technically speaking, you have no permit for a couple of months. I would want to check just to make sure that would work with the DOS, but looks like it would.

Did not have the first version. Held one about a month ago and the grip safety was 'iffy' at that time. However, my father-in-law got one and hence another chance to play with it. First off it was a bitch to reassemble. Maybe with a little practice I will learn how to hold my mouth just right and it will go easier. However.... to the range. A couple of times it failed to chamber a round after sticking the mag in. Once chambered, ran reliably and smoothly with a mix of bullet types/reloads and factory rounds. Locked back on empty mag, and shot very well at reasonable SD range with accuracy. No problems with grip safety activation this time. I don't like it as well as my Shield. Little big for a pocket gun. May be all right as a carry gun with decent holster. Certainly smooth lines and dehorned. I have read where after fired extensively it seems very dependable. I am not in a hurry to go buy one, but I do know where I can get one to play with occasionally. After a few hundred rounds will report back.

Just do a search here as well. Don't forget the Hornady line. IMO more bang for the buck.

19 Charged for Bear Baiting in Blount Co.
chances R replied to Garufa's topic in Hunting and Fishing
Less hunters overall, and more of the folks that go into wildlife management are more 'tree-huggers' and somewhat anti-hunting than the folks with country, hunting backgrounds. In fact, some that go into the field consider the wildlife as almost a personal property and try to minimize its harvest. -
Don't do stupid stuff Don't hang around stupid people Don't go to stupid places Boring, but more than likely you won't get shot

The rioters are backed by the political left in a battleground state. Facts will not and do not matter. Police seemed to have done the right thing, but politics are the deciding factor. Much more reason to riot and fault the police in Tulsa, but NOT a battleground state and already considered a state for Trump. Like most things, politics and follow the money.

Yes she fired out the door but it looks like a continuance of the fight. In fact, there appears to be a flash, possibly from another shot from the BG. Given the violent nature of home invasion and disparity of force of 3 armed males and one woman I doubt any prosecutor would want to challange the Castle Doctrine defense in GA.

If your intentions are to shoot clays.....I would recommend another semi-auto. An A5 will beat on you pretty good. If you want the gun for simply small game then possibly a different story. Also better choices for waterfowl. The 'new' A5 can swing both ways for you. For clays, one of the gas operated autos would be a better choice, and again with the right choice you can hunt waterfowl as well. Unless due to range restrictions there is no good reason to shoot steel loads for clays.

I think your research sums it up....to ring or not to ring is the question.

Knoxville Allowing Fair to Prohibit Guns in a Park
chances R replied to Just2Honor's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Problem is one can be arrested, sign or no sign. Doesn't have to make sense, and it has already been documented as to the arrest would happen. -
Did you clean and lube before you fired it? Many make the mistake of simply firing as is right out of the box. Also many guns are ammo sensitive. Would avoid grease and use Mobil 1 or similar oil. Make sure chamber is very clean initially; makes for sticky extraction. That is really the only part of the barrel I am concerned with.

Walther, your intentions are good, but without proper leadership as prag and Cruel Hand note, you may not get the results you envision. Now You may be very knowledgeable, but most simply just don't know what they don't know. The best way to get started in what you want is to probably join an active IDPA club and then join a small training group. That way you will benefit from other students of the game.

Moving to TN - question on concealed carry permit
chances R replied to Thunor's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
....not if you travel outside the State. 40 other states recognize your permit for your investment. Contrast that to Vermont where no permit is needed to carry, what you seem to want to mirror here in TN, BUT only 8 states have some form of reciprocity/carry with Vermont. I am not saying there shouldn't be a better, cheaper way, but to blame corporate entities rather than the state legislature is missing the mark. -
Moving to TN - question on concealed carry permit
chances R replied to Thunor's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
JayC, you are certainly welcome to your opinion, but we still disagree. Sorry you had a lousy experience with your class. I can't speak to all of the similarities of NC law vs. TN. But one difference is in NC one must notify LEO of being armed.....not so in TN, but is an option. Corporate welfare? Don't know, the ranges and instructors have no say in the creation of State law, but do provide a vehicle to help comply with the law. I seriously doubt that local LEO could provide all of the needed classes, and if so, I am sure there would be some cost. Because of the the differences in States, I still think a review should be available, whether in person or on-line. Same for military personnel which are now exempt in TN from taking the course. So I still think it is cheap insurance even though it is very minimal. I agree with you that training is important and few do so. I have yet to take any course where there is more than a very brief and informal discussion of any handgun law. Where would you suggest a 'newbie' get such training and information? -
Moving to TN - question on concealed carry permit
chances R replied to Thunor's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Have to disagree. If the course is done correctly it may in fact provide you with basic knowledge and examples of some things that will cost you many times over the cost of the class. While you may do your own research, most do not. Heck, most that take the class will never practice. Your knowledge of the basic laws and surviving the possible legal battle is as important and potentially life-changing as the physical battle. -
I think that if you do it enough dry, and without an accidental trigger pull, you will gain the confidence you need that it will be OK.
