  1. JsL....you have a received YEARS of experienced advice in this thread. No one would intentionally mislead you. Ultimately it will be your decision and you have wisely sought out all the information available to you. I have spoken with attorneys who are experienced in 2nd Amendment issues and firearm laws. They themselves will tell you that it is the exception to find LEO or judges that are well versed in the subject. They will also tell you that groups of folks like here on TGO are much more educated in firearm law as well as for the most part better trained in firearm usage, etc. than most 'professionals.' For the most part, be cautious, and wait if in doubt until you have a HCP to solve most of your issues.
  2. Thanks for the lead.......however, out of stock. Will keep looking.
  3. LOL, but using dynamite gets better results
  4. Excellent point! That is why lawyers 'argue' their point. Can certainly see your logic and therefore without a HCP, would seem to make it risky for the OP to carry while fishing.
  5. Anyone see this available anywhere? Even private sale? Thanks
  6. yep, understand the temptation to continue to 'manufacture' a new load, especially when one is convinced it is the 'perfect' round only to find out otherwise. That is why is wish I only had to step out back and fire a few rounds for testing......but pretty sure it would upset the neighbors.
  7. As devil's advocate, would you have the same discussion with your under 21 daughter traveling across the state? I see no vagueness in the motor vehicle / castle doctrine. No consent to search, no duty to inform. I understand where you are coming from, but IMO the law is clear in this regard.
  8. If in doubt read the above over and over. Use your head, avoid conflict. Carry pepper spray. Carry in your car as allowed, but avoid the grey area of the law. If charged by LEO it will be unpleasant, expensive, and possibly long-lasting ramifications.
  9. Let us know how that turns out They will probably have to ask on TGO. By the way it is not CCW......it is a HCP.
  10. and people doubt Jesus Christ ....... but they are quick to believe 'hands up don't shoot'. I know from personal and professional experience this story happens daily, just that the nurse, family member, etc., isn't dressed as Santa
  11. Many 'pros' recommend downloading mags by one to two rounds anyway. If they function well simply use them routinely or make them your carry mag or your training mags. Sometimes high cap mags may not function as well or for as long. But, if yours work and reliable, no biggy.
  12. In a way Hayden is right, except the 2nd Amendment doesn't need ANY tweaking. Just leave it alone, it speaks for itself. No gun-free zones, and this problem has a ready-made solution. The problem is all the politicians think they are smarter than the founding fathers. After almost 250 years those founders, risking everything they owned, including their life, got it right. The only thing the current politicians risk is another paycheck.....their own self-interests.
  13. Yep, one of the truisms of gunfights, no one wished they had a smaller gun Glad you liked the LCPii, nice review and thanks for the update.
  14. The fire was started before Thanksgiving so I doubt anyone had the foresight to intentionally cause what followed. Not sure it follows the true definition of arson, but regardless the final result was beyond imagination and nothing can fully describe the initial impact and what is to follow for years. No punishment of the offenders is really going to make a difference. One can only hope that by some miracle something positive can come out of their lives that can somehow touch others in a positive fashion. I can't see it......but hopefully that will happen. Would be a terrible position as a family to be in as a dumb mistake by teenagers. If there is a record of juvenile offenses, then a different story.
  15. I am sure the 'II" is an improvement..but I shot the standard LCP in a bug match and works just fine for what it is. For pocket carry it is small and no snags. Can probably find some good deals on them now. IMO, for what the purpose is, I wouldn't spend the extra for the new improved version.
  16. The news reports seem to me to insulate from reality......Much worse than could ever be relayed over the TV. Have a good friend who owns a very nice rental cabin. Large log construction, large pine furniture and trim inside.....3 stories. Located across from the mayor's home which was destroyed, and 3 dead discovered in the rubble the road below. So I accompanied them today to see what was left.....nothing. Unbelievable devastation. Homes nothing but a collection of metal and ashes in their footprint. Foundations only. Charred landscape. Wires down across roads still. Massive debris. Abandoned vehicles burnt out. Utility workers and trucks everywhere plus multiple LEO and Fire Dept from across the state working. Talking to others with amazing stories of survival with only about 15 minutes of time, if that. Very fortunate it didn't happen in the middle of the night. The clean up will have to occur first on a massive scale similar to other disaster areas before the rebuild can happen. God Bless and prayers for all affected and working in this disaster.
  17. So you fed the bears....so to speak. You contributed to the commercialization by repeatedly renting their property. Look around, I don't like it either. Knoxville/Knox county was much nicer as a scruffy little city. West Knox county had many many nice hunting areas I utilized growing up here. Kodak, Maryville, and other smaller towns have had the same changes. It is all part of change. Love Tellico Village ? Loss of the Little T. If I had a magic wand maybe could change it back, but it doesn't work that way. Glad you and I are different......I could never find pleasure in an area suffering a devastational loss of property, hardship, jobs, and possibly life.
  18. I don't think you really mean this. What a tragedy for the entire state. Christmas time when many families visit this area, from near and far. Tremendous loss of jobs at the Holiday Season. My prayers for all concerned. Will be truly amazing if there is not loss of life discovered. I have friends who have a large cabin behind Ripleys. Many homes/cabins in that area and I have heard only terrible news in that regard.
  19. Dollywood now evacuated and threatened........geez....wish the rain would hurry up. Going to be bad when daylight shows what damage has been done.
  20. You are both exactly 100% correct. Happy?! Sorry .....I was thinking of handguns. Damn you all are picky. Sorry to play in your sandbox. I think obtaining a bill of sale is over the top. Just having a little devil's advocate thought that with the way the liberal press is, remember them, that if one sold a handgun to an 18 yo and 'something' happened, although legal to do so......There might be hell to pay. But obviously no where near the problem one can get into by possibly not putting a full complete LEGAL explanation on one of your threads/posts.
  21. I thought in an earlier post someone posted must be 21. Don't see it now though. It is legal to sell to an 18 yo IF you are not an FFL . Luck, or rather bad luck would be if that 18 yo wound up in trouble involving the firearm. Because of the FFL situation I bet it will take an attorney to pull your fat from the fire even though technically legal.
  22. If you feel lucky you can sell to an 18yo.
  23. Been watching channel 6. Gatlinburg under mandatory evacuation. Fires all over the place. Park Vista Hotel essentially surrounded by fire. Many homes behind Ripleys as well as buildings on main drag reportedly burning.
  24. FYI, Alabama will let one open carry in most places, but without a permit one cannot carry concealed or in an vehicle.
  25. xtriggerman, I see exactly what you want........a perfect world, and it is not going to happen. You cannot fix stupid. NDs happen even with experienced, well-trained gun owners as well as trained LEO. Accidents and negligent owners will still exist. People take HCP classes now and for the most part will do no additional training let alone carry routinely. IMO a basic HCP class may facilitate a Universally recognized permit, but an easy to read, well publicized state web site that can be reviewed would come closer to helping more people in regard to legalities and safety.
