I guess that would not surprise me. Look at the advisors for the NRA, all special forces types. It always grinds at me a little that a lot of folks simply do not understand the differences between military, police, and civilian firearm uses and 'rules of engagement'. Same thing in the political arena. Waving training for LEO and military, especially in our state when knowing the TN law is a very important part of carrying a gun in this state. And before anyone yells it is about the money, my preference is that one should complete an online test about those laws, much like hunter safety. Does no one any good to survive the gunfight and have to spend 20 in the big house because you couldn't survive the legal fight.

Taurus TCP Jammed, or so I thought
chances R replied to Mousegun's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Just out of curiosity, what was the gun-free zone, especially where a lock would make the difference? Red, not all kids in a household may be old enough to address firearms with certainty. Also some may be visitors to a house that require additional measures of storage/safety; there are varying circumstances, some which may be unique. I understand that most are simply trying to make the point that a gun should be loaded and ready for immediate use if it is primary defensive weapon. However everyone has to make a judgement call on how that gun is stored and who can access the weapon. Loaded weapons with easy access by the wrong people have made headlines numerous times, we don't need anymore. Be safe. -

Not necessarily if one has kids around. -

I don't see what the problem is anyway! It is clearly stated in their rules that violence IS NOT ALLOWED. That means the assault cannot happen anyway....gun or not.

Cabelas and go with the bib overalls/set that the pro fishermen use. Their job depends on it.

I have a compact in 9mm. Is it a great trigger.....no, but usable. Same thing can be said about most M&Ps and one of their short-comings addressed reasonably well in their 2.0 edition. An Apex kit will markedly improve your situation, but as is should be more than adequate for SD purposes. Of course it will never be a bullseye gun.

Guess that's why we have lawyers and everyone has video/cellphones

An "expert" on travel stated on Fox that if one is not drunk, drugged, disruptive and have been seated on the plane then they cannot be removed unwillingly. Also this guy was let back onto the plane. Nobody gets arrested and processed that fast. So we will have to wait for the ending.

Harvey's gun and pawn off Merchants road.....great place for used and new guns

IMO there is no way United would support making charges on this guy. In addition they let him back onto the plane the big problem is that you bump paying customers for employees. I understand the federal rules and law. Both are in the wrong but I'm betting this guy gets a big payday

"pretty ok " should be good for a sock drawer gun.

I would love to hear some more reports on SCCY as well as the new Taurus Spectrum. There are plenty of people that won't or don't have the money to tie up in a SD gun. I have shot neither but would like to hear from those who have.

What...why? You going to arrest him for buying a ticket and allowing him to board and be seated? Oversale is the first point of BS, the second is tossing paying customers off to seat employees. And then let's throw in the patients the doctor has the next day that have to cancel and rearrange their life. This is totally on the shoulders of United, and there are several much better options. I hope they continue to get roasted.

Question raised in carry permit class.....
chances R replied to CJDore's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
So that is exactly my point. Even if there was a complainant, simply pulling back one's coat , or even removing one's coat is not an illegal act. Again as I stated in my 1st post I don't agree with exposing my weapon, but not illegal. -

In this case nothing. This is simply an action by the OP. Let's say you simply observed it. And then for discussion, the 'victim' described exactly what the OP described. -

So if we take the OP as is, and as an Officer, will you make an arrest? The charge? -
Question raised in carry permit class.....

Agree with above EXCEPT he did not show his gun, he was simply an open carry...prove otherwise. There is no duty to retreat, that element in TN is not required. Not that it isn't a good idea but in this instance, all ended well so at face value I would say the wind blew just at the right time and everyone went home. Of course any position could be argued, but no harm no foul at face value. -
Would this work on the M&P 15-22 AR style rifle? Or other suggestions?

This may also be a good time to discuss alternative measures initially such as pepper spray, blowing the horn excessively, inside the car and doors locked and simply driving off. -

I don't agree with 'showing' my weapon. AFAIK, since open carry is allowed, and IF he did not finger his weapon I would argue he is perfectly fine. If there was an imminent threat and he pulled his weapon he would need to immediately call the police from a safe place and report the incident. I would also recommend verbal challenge loud enough to draw witnesses initially if got to the point you felt threatened. Keep in mind you will be judged by was it a reasonable response. As many of you realize, simply presenting the gun may neutralize the threat, but you have to make the call to 911. -
States Recognizing TN Permits (Reciprocity) With Links
chances R replied to JohnC's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Per the app 'Legal Heat', permitted non-resident may possess a handgun in their auto in Illinois. Law is very similar to TN non-permit carry. Also reference Illinois Republican Caucus, page 7 :http://www.senategop.state.il.us/Portals/0/14 Concealed Carry v4.pdf Virginia never revoked reciprocal carry, but they tossed it around and created a political firestorm. As OS said there was a negotiated compromise within the State capital that put the brakes on it. -
whoops...wrong spot
