  1. You guys are potentially playing with fire, especially if near the eyes. There are potential life-long complications. Steroids, antivirals, and specific nerve meds can be used. The sooner the meds are started the better the result. And yes I am a medical professional.

    SRO Law

Carry in schools K-12 and post-secondary has been legal for several years.....in private schools. Don't know of any that actually do so, but is legal and up to the individual school policy. Second point, the ECP, as it will be referenced should me moved to a status of 'equal to LEO' carry. That will add greater distinction compared to the CCP and solve the sign law criminal charge BS, imo.
  3. Not to be confused with TVA campgrounds/parks
  4. being armed is not much help or assurance regarding sniper fire
  5. Both Cleveland and Oak Ridge Sportsmen Club have IDPA shoots which are open to individuals without any club affiliation. ORSA is first Sat of the month.
  6. Nope, never had anyone trying to shoot me. What exactly does that make one qualified for by itself ? I know how I train and hope I react, but no one can predict your situation or their reaction....the possibilities are endless. My training is fairly extensive and ongoing. I share that with many people including my HCP classes. Trained to a point of unconscious competence is certainly better that the average citizen who may be packing. My reference to being down range is understanding how incompetent the average HCP holder is should they be pressed to draw their firearm. Lowering the training standards certainly does not make me feel any better about my safety. Hopefully the HCP course would encourage further training but it does not; so no mistake on my part on that being sufficient training, but some formal training is better that none.
  7. I know we will not come to an agreement on how much training, if any, should be required to carry a deadly weapon in the public domain. Certainly the majority will not seek any additional training period. The problem is when the poop hits the fan, I don't won't to be downwind of the fan that is slinging bullets. Few train for square range accuracy much less stress environments where every shot counts.
  8. you obviously don't understand human nature.....
  9. Absolutely. Not frequently but it happens. I have had range failures as well.
  10. what a shame......a whole 8 hrs away from their family. So a mistake, accident, negligence and you take away a life. That's permanent and a lot longer than 8 hrs. And taking additional training ? Yeah, right. Most don't even shoot once a month, let alone take additional training.
  11. Beware civil immunity is available as long as you are not negligent and act reasonably. Additionally your case has to be ajudicated not simply dismissed. You will still be held accountable for each round you fire and what damage is done.
  12. I am tired of 'feel good' legislation. Practical, simple, logical legislation should be implemented for whatever the problem or subject is. I have nothing against private property owners posting. I don't like it, but I can go and shop other places....as mentioned, vote with my pocketbook. I do support carry that parallels that of local LEO. If one has the 'enhanced permit' that should suffice. This CCP legislation is just another 'feel good' piece of legislation that only complicates the situation. Just like this proposal. We need legislation that supports legitimate training and the law abiding gun owner/carrier. Support the LEO equal carry policy and the sign issue simply goes away.
  13. But if you put your gun case inside your luggage I would use TSA locks on the luggage. Private lock on gun case. I also put a label on the gun case with cell number should they need me to open it.
  14. TN law via the Castle Doctrine states that if someone forcefully and unlawfully enters a home there is an assumption that there is a threat of serious bodily injury or death. Therefore, one is allowed to use force, including deadly force, to protect ones self. Each person would need to evaluate the circumstances and threat and act reasonably and with a decision one would hopefully not regret.
  15. Agree...I have a Specialist/.45, now have the fever for the ECP
  16. Dang it! How much and where?
  17. I have USCCA. If I would change, it would be CCW safe. Like all of my insurance.....hope I don't have to use any of it.
  18. Most on this site can certainly appreciate the importance of having a means of self-defense readily available while traveling. TN Castle Law includes automobiles. In fact the HCP power point was changed as it specifically referenced 21yo and handguns. Later was changed to reflect the purchase by 21yo and above. Some LEO will not know the law and there may indeed be some question and possibly an arrest. Anyone under 21 and having a handgun in their car must certainly be aware of the law and maintain a polite demeanor while any problem is worked out. But the bottom line is it is legal and especially important especially for traveling females, ie to and from college, work, etc.

    JANick

Well when the spelling police on the internet are bored....
  20. Owner cannot legally carry during a college ballgame. Additionally, if left in the automobile, it must be locked inside the vehicle out of sight. Should be in a secure container locked as well in this situation.
  21. The required training by the state is now a mandatory PowerPoint presentation. Done properly, it is a jam packed 8 hrs. So that helps to have a more consistent presentation across the state. It’s emphasis is on safety and TN gun law. No one should think this is a course to teach one how to shoot. Although it is not unusual for half the class to have little or no shooting experience. It is no surprise to me that more accidents happen to so-called experienced gun owners....that is called complacency. Regardless of the permit or constitutional carry, it will boil down to personal responsibility. That should make everyone feel safer.
  22. There is no TN law regarding printing. Given the new, ill-thought out law, I doubt one will see any charges with open carry vs. concealed. Hopefully no tragedies occur; if so ALL permit holders will share the negative light.
  23. I have had several students fail the shooting portion of the carry class. I have had many pass that I pray no one is downrange of should they choose to draw their weapon. I had one recently that I am still here only by the grace of God. The new CCP will grant a permit to these people and more who don’t have a clue about what they are doing. You simply don’t know what you don’t know. Any bet that these people will do any research on the legal points of self defense? There will also be the legal fight for your life in the aftermath.
  24. 300win, I understand the language of the bill, but unless there is a change in the law, it remains illegal for any permit holder to carry on the grounds where a school function is being held
  25. I think one of the results that will affect all permit holders will be more posted property. Terrible Bill with no good results IMO
