Not to mention other professional licenses.

Personally I wouldn’t take the chance. With red flag and any excuse to deny one a firearm, too risky.

Sounds to me you are good to go. I would go ahead and take the course with your wife without delay. If you do get tripped up, you have a year from your course to complete the permit process. As far as your wife’s gun, she may use any gun in the course and carry whatever she chooses as there is nothing that occurs that identifies the weapon or its origin.

My carry gun is what I am confident in and comfortable in carrying. Cost is not a big deal relative to the value of my life. If it lays in an evidence locker, that cost will be a drop in the bucket.

similar situation which I posed to an ATF agent. TN resident/father gifting his firearms to an adult daughter in another state. He said legal, no paperwork.

Private Tennessee Mountaintop Base with Airport Runway For Sale

That's less than half of what my yacht cost. If only it had dock access....... -
I've handled both; 9mm a little more tight than the 380, but certainly easier than the standard 9mm shield.

I’ve had a LCP for many years, carried in nemesis holster mostly. Have a fobus and VersaCarry, the latter gets a fair amount of use. Have shot an IDPA match with it, over 100 rounds. Little hand soreness next day but certainly not a big deal. ( and no I wasn’t HOA) For what they are, I personally wouldn’t spend extra for a ‘2 version’, but they are new and improved.

And you will need a new clamp

On my end, every class for the HCP. Not ideal but just the way it is.

Of course don't forget reloading if cost is your concern. Nothing wrong with having a good .22 pistol that is similar to your daily platform. But with reloading for a cost of less than $4 /box I can shoot any of my carry or competition guns with minimal costs. One has to buy in bulk. Plus, enjoyable hobby for me.

A chief deputy friend of mine said the majority of departments across the country are under-manned. Definitely having trouble recruiting qualified applicants. This situation in VA is probably not going to help that situation in the state, especially if there is a 'blue flu' when it comes down to door to door.

I have had Wilson mags fail to function properly due to routine fouling of the follower in my Dan Wesson Specialist 45.. Baffled even a couple of seasoned gunsmiths.....and they figured it out. I frequently drop mags shooting IDPA. I don't routinely break them down but if heavily blackened will wipe them off. I keep a record of changing the springs out periodically. I use the Hornady clean and lube spray which leaves a dry lubricant. Has always worked great for me without attracting or holding grit, dirt, etc.

I have had several 380 come through classes without difficulty. But then again it is only 50 rounds.

Ditto that on the backyard range. Take care of the bronchitis. Looks like everyone is having an early Merry Christmas. FWIW, I would think a good full size 9mm would be easier on the hands/wrist.

Appreciate your welding analogy. Years ago a man violated one of those rules. Blew himself and the house up. Wife was crippled for life. Tragedy is just a blink away, in many circumstances.

One1 said “.... It’s just something i do toalways know the gun is never loaded.....” The gun is always loaded. I understand what you are doing and saying but that concept can be a spark for tragedy.

So do we have room to imprison the majority of Congress?

yeah, I know, that's why I have 3 of them. Sexy, but high maintenance.

Just another example of why I am sold on the M&P full size 45. Works every time and don't have to baby it. Would have never bothered with the 1911s if I had shot this one first.

Always a concern/fear of mine; besides being embarrassing it can be tragic. I always preach handle a gun as if it is a poisonous snake. Deserves full attention and complete focus at all times. A momentary loss of focus can have deadly consequences.
-
The problem was the guy running his mouth before the shooting, not afterwards. Reports show he had a history of doing so. No imminent threat of serious bodily injury or death. IMO bad shoot. Go directly to jail, do not collect $200. Shame but an excellent lesson to all that carry.

Been a SCCY fan for several years. Sent one back as it did not handle JHP. Got it back in 1 wk, handled multiple brands without issue. Great CS. Recent story of one damaged in house fire that they replaced, no charge. My shoots good and and I think is one of the Best Buy’s for an American made, reliable, and excellent CS gun.

125 grain coated bullets with unique

unique works just fine....just doesn't meter as well as some others. My concern would be your 'plunk' test and as a result your crimp.
