  1. Precision Delta has a good quality 147 gr. wad cutter at reasonable prices. They are remans but a good company.
  2. My wife carries a .32 Tomcat.
  3. You don't pick and try on your wife's shoes. Same for her gun. It's personal. As others have said, the more she can try the better. Don't worry about caliber. It is purely on her comfort level. I have had some pick a .22. Later as they become more proficient and comfortable they may want another gun...we can all agree nothing wrong with that. Greg Elifritz, a nationally known trainer, personally feeds his snub-nose revolvers with 147gr. wadcutters. So let her make the choice. Personal preference and having a firearm are the two most important factors at this point.
  4. try walking under a big turkey roost when it's a pitch black morning. You would think the trees are falling....
  5. Remember this CC only permit just went into effect Jan. 1. With Covid 19 and all of its ramifications, gun law is on the back burner. As things roll around to ‘normal’ other states may address this further. If one is going to spend time and money I would recommend getting the best training and permit available.
  6. Some people fail to appreciate 'small game' hunting....
  7. I will also add that I enjoy reloading. Somewhat therapeutic. Since my teenage years I've loaded thousands and thousands of shotshells. Now the same for my pistol loads. My loads are also 'custom'. Since I load mostly 147 gr at a lower power factor I can decrease my recoil which is easier on me and the equipment. However, if you are not a little bit OCD don't bother reloading. Blowing up your gun and possibly injuring yourself is not fun and certainly doesn't save you any money. I have seen several damaged guns, including a Wilson 1911.
  8. 1. A gift 2. join military 3. Find a willing seller through your contacts
  9. Buying in bulk ( 3000 + ) plated or coated Bullets are 7.5 cents. Generally powder and primer 1 cent each. Not counting time, cleaning and equipment I can load a dime a pop /$5 box. I load relatively lite 147 gr loads and shoot several thousand a year. So it does “save” money, but I still spend a lot.
  10. Use to hunt grouse. Not that mad at them anymore. Tough hunting. Killed a couple out off Lovell rd in about 1970. Several in Sneedville area and clinch Mtn. Some say the turkey population hurt em pretty bad.
  11. BBQ might help. I wrap them in bacon like dove. They have a tinge of dirt taste.
  12. People always laugh, but I use to routinely hunt, kill and eat snipe.
  13. I generally use a chromebook
  14. Check this out, Citizens Safety Academy. RangeMaster certified instructor, https://citizenssafety.com/csa-instructors/
  15. Actually the statute reads 'firearm' which would include a loaded rifle, shotgun, or handgun. However, safe storage and transportation is recommended routinely. In TN it is referred to as Permitless Carry and is essentially an extension of the Castle Doctrine to your auto, given the previous limits regarding ownership of vehicle , etc as previously noted.
  16. grew up squirrel hunting. Always used shotgun with 5 or 6 shot. Occasional shot in the meat, not a big deal. One can use lead shot and even if you chew down on one just spit it out. Steel shot and waterfowl different story. Shotgun is generally safer and more effective. Hard to find an area where one doesn't have to worry about travel distance of a 22.
  17. SRO w 2.5 dot. Looked hard at the Holosun, and shot Romeo, DP, RMR, sighttmark. Did not shoot Bushnell or Crimson Trace. Quality and reputation of the Trijicon won out. Really like the big window of the SRO as well. It is a different world.
  18. I see nothing on the package or SRO that says 'made in USA', except it does say the packaging is made in USA. Also in couple of places on the box it comes in and the owner's manual it gives export warnings as well as American patents. But I am pretty darn happy with my SRO placed on my 5" M&P pro. Had a local 'smith cut the slide, the same depth as the rear sight; removed the rear sight totally. I still consider these things cheating. ''
  19. Some folks have better accuracy with HP pistol bullets, esp in 9mm. Other than that point, it doesn't much matter to me as long as it doesn't bounce off cardboard and it feeds reliably. I use 147 xtreme or 145 plated from Bayou. Generally buy either one around from 7cents to 7.5 cents each.
  20. This is Rufus. I use to field trial labs, raised Rufus the same way. He is a darn good dove retriever.
  21. Selling or giving toy firearms !!!
  22. any of the new laws passed affect reciprocity, to include mag restriction etc?
  23. Pelosi, Schumer, McCain, Biden, Waters, Feinstein .....
  24. My wife asked me the same question, my immediate answer was yes, whether armed or not....but seldom am I not. Don't think I could live with myself otherwise. But then again, one never knows for certain until you're in the middle of it. Your choice, but that is a good way to lose a gunfight. One does not have to wait to be shot at, nor is any warning needed. If in the mentioned stabbing, if one had a shot into the back, or even the ear of the perp, would be no problem IMO.
  25. Recently broke the extractor in my R1 that I have had since they came out. Don't have a specific round count, but have used it in a couple of 4 day classes plus a lot of practice rounds. Easy to replace with an Ed Brown part. Should be good for several thousand more rounds,
