Anyone tried Alliant BE-86 Powder yet?
chances R replied to Jamie Jackson's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I've used quite a bit of BE-86, worked just fine. It has a flash suppressor which I think makes it a little more smokey and dirty. Became hard to find and went to Tru Blue and then it is made in Belgium and no telling when more will arrive. Went back to WSF. Works well and reasonably priced. Stocked up, doubt that I will change unless forced. -

Question : Would you buy locally made Ammo?
chances R replied to DraxTheDad's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Parabellum ammo in Knoxville makes good ammo…. But has gone to commercial accounts only now. -
As mentioned, the citizen defender has some protection from criminal prosecution by the legal doctrine of 'transferred intent". In turn this may provide standing for liability for civil charge, depending on the state. Of course nothing protects the individual from a lifetime of regret.

OC is like showing your cards when playing poker….makes in harder to win. secondly, it’s like a gay pride T-shirt, it’s offensive and I don’t care or want to know.

Best Place to go for Handgun Safety School (Getting EHCP)
chances R replied to AdamB's topic in General Chat
I think Tiffany and Aqil both are top notch. However, I think Royal Range has RangeMaster grads as instructors as well. Done correctly, the specified State curriculum has to be followed but a good instructor helps. This will generally consume the 8 hrs as dictated. I think the state also has a $30 rebate program. I highly recommend the training and then proceed with additional training. -
I could put that to good use

Question : Would you buy locally made Ammo?

Personally, I don’t buy from gun shows. Blowing yourself up or a gun is not the way to save money. Some long standing reman companies are different. A smaller one here in Knoxville, Parabellum ammo makes quality ammo but now no longer sells to individuals. -
Tennessee shoots down Memphis gun control
chances R replied to Jpoc700's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Control the law-abiding while the criminals do what criminals do.......the Democrat way. -
Very similar to “assault “. Magnum however in same calibers generally means increased velocity and increased terminal energy. Not necessarily interchangeable.

If you are running a shotgun with one in the chamber....remember they are NOT drop safe. Best to store gun cruiser ready in case it gets knocked over.

Capacity is a minimal concern with auto loaders. Only one recorded event where a person required a 2nd dose of 12 ga 00 buck and this was due to bad aim. Reduced recoil 00 buck in 2 3/4" is plenty of stopping power in the 12 ga.

There has been a powder supply issue for at least 4 yrs.

GOA Conference-Knoxville-Aug 17-18
chances R replied to AuEagle's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Very nice event with continuous panels and forum discussions as well as class-room events. I would guess over 200 vendors. Not a gun show, more along the lines of a NRA convention. Will go again is available.- 1 reply

for strictly carry purposes, I think the concern for something getting in the cut out is of no concern. The only possible advantage, and I have nothing to base this on but a hunch, is that if someone grabs hold of the gun by the front of the muzzle area, I bet they let go when you fire the gun. Similar result as cylinder gap effect on revolvers.

Case lube?Hornady,Dillion, or Frankford Arsenal?
chances R replied to jeff43's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Hornady lock n load for pistols only. Light dusting of one shot makes things smoother. -
Recommendation on small caliber revolver for wife
chances R replied to walton6467's topic in Handguns
Ones has to shoot before you can get a jam. If you are not carrying, well the cart is in front of the horse. Most of us started with small calibers and that is what I recommend with most new shooters, especially women. There are some exceptions. If you think .22 is not acceptable, hold my target for me. I have instructed many new shooters and the most common mistake I have seen, both male and female is trying to start with snub 38s. Some people can’t pull the trigger dbl action. Most are surprised at the recoil. Get quality instruction and a large sampling and let the shooter decide. I always tell husbands and boyfriends, if you don’t buy their shoes, don’t buy their guns, let them decide by trying them on. -
Will add that I have 2 AMeriglo Havens that each have a couple thousand rounds. Know of several others used as much. Quality build and fully satisfied. All used IDPA and USPSA.

So.....it's my property, at anytime I can bait trophy deer and shoot them all? Even though we know deer may travel miles crossing many property lines. Same with bir tds such as duck, geese, cranes, doves. I can bait them and basically control their movement thus denying many other landowners and the public the chance to have decent hunt. That is why landowners need to have general restrictions, regulated by the state.

Benelli M2. With proper choke tubes, good for upland hunting, turkey, and self-defense.
