TFA analysis of permitless carry
chances R replied to Grayfox54's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
John Harris was on 98.7 News Talk with Bob Yarbrough discussing the Permitless Carry law and the legal traps and confusion it has caused for LEO as well as civilians. Good informative show for an hour. -
TFA analysis of permitless carry

So papa you are certainly privileged to your stance. The problem is, if caught with a handgun in a non-permissive spot, it may financially ruin you to prove your point, if not jail time and loss of gun rights. Simply being in a school zone, even in TN is a federal offense without a permit. -
TFA analysis of permitless carry

BillyB, if you are now a TN resident, you have 6 mos to get a TN permit. Your FL permit won’t be valid, at least that is my understanding. Otherwise all other points seem correct. Permit has no bearing on long guns. -

If you can't check your ego....then one should reconsider carrying a gun. Your explanation simply shows a pattern of escalation on both sides. Notwithstanding carrying a gun without one in the chamber. Bad technique at critical times. Another story however.

For a simple pocket gun, the original LCP is hard to beat. Essentially dehorned with reasonable rounds makes it lighter. All of these high round capacity guns make my pants sag

No matter the type and caliber, except 'bird shot', expect it to go from one end of the house and out the other.

IF I could only have one handgun, it would be the M&P 45. Reliable, accurate, and very little tlc needed. Dependable.

SCCY has double strike capability....did they go off on 2nd try, or in another firearm?

IMO, the close distance, immediate use of your gun, sights or red dot probably won’t even be noticed or used, let alone even notice the rare occasion of fogging. As I said, try taping yours up and try it out….I bet you will be surprised.
-
In bright, in your face sun, some shooters put blue painters tape over the lens. I have tried it…one can still see the target with other eye and effectively shoot the dot. I’m betting you can do the same thing with a fogged glass.

Most all popular calibers have similar penetration. May want to look up 'The Firearm Blog", .22 vs. 223 Home Defense Drywall Penetration

Castle doctrine does apply to your vehicle, but the passenger compartment has to be breached…not that you simply felt threatened. One can always drive off…avoiding the situation is paramount.

Going to need to sip ;the M&P kool-aid sometime....

Yes have been there several times. Never bad idea to consult your attorney. Very few know much about firearms law let alone self-defense law. Generally not taught in law school.

The carry class has had at least 3 significant changes through the years; likely since you took the class. You are correct in that the laws change frequently and it is one's responsibility to keep up with those changes. Additionally, the 'legal' aspects of carry are dictated by the state and the Power Point presentation put out by the state for all instructors is to be followed explicitly. The instructor my ad lib to a small degree, but the info is Homeland Security/Dept of Safety advice and rules dictated by statute. And again you are correct, it is a never ending process of learning.

New Law Restricts Purchasing a Firearm if you have a DUI
chances R replied to Fasazu's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
However, the above stipulations will keep one from carrying a handgun under the new permitless carry law. One has to be able to meet all qualifications/disqualifications of the ECP requirements. -
Anyone Reload .410 for Squirrel Hunting?
chances R replied to Sidewinder's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
One of my best hunting buddies always used a 410. Given your small payload, 6 shot is your best bet. Even ‘English’ 7s will work. Tall trees still only push 30 yds and squirrels ain’t that tough. -

Yes, size requirement, gun buster logo, specific wording, statute notation -
Permitless carry will affect those with a permit....
chances R replied to chances R's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
At this time, the CCP has the same reciprocity as the ECP except for North Dakota. Hipower, correct. You now have an ECP and name will be changed at your renewal or you could request a duplicate now - I think- and it would be changed. -
Permitless carry will affect those with a permit....
chances R replied to chances R's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
The original (standard) permit which started in 96, is now referred to as the Enhanced Carry Permit - - - - simply a name change once the Concealed Carry Permit started in Jan 2020. Different certification processes. A few restrictions, the biggest being a CCP must be carried concealed only. Bottom line, anyone that had an HCP before Jan 2020 now has an ECP. The ECP is still available to anyone that wants to take the 8 hour class. -
Permitless carry will affect those with a permit....
chances R replied to chances R's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I did not make a point about 'permission slips"... that is a another topic. I simply made the point that the expansion of permitless carry will have some negative side effects affecting the previous responsible individuals that sought out training.
