  1. You didn't see the guy standing in line at McDs who was stripped of his gun while standing in line? https://www.clickondetroit.com/news/local/2021/02/18/video-man-snatches-gun-from-man-at-detroit-gas-station-counter/ https://www.abc15.com/news/region-phoenix-metro/south-phoenix/silent-witness-looking-for-man-who-stole-gun-from-mcdonalds-customer
  2. just an example that has happened, can't remember the exact details, but a bad guy rounded up all the customers and employees to lock in a back room. Who knows, may have been intent on murdering them all. At the appropriate time, an armed good guy pulled his gun and shot bad guy. Had he been OC, never would have had that chance as he would have been disarmed by bad guy. Surprise is part of one's defensive tactics.
  3. 1776, that is just a terrible idea. You don't like being 'force fed' and others don't either. Making people feel uncomfortable is not a way to win them over. Take any protesters that you may oppose; does that sway you over to their side? People make their own choices. OC can make you a target for a quick grab, now you are chasing an armed bad guy - bad choice. You lose your element of surprise is approached by a criminal. There is no known instructor to me that promotes OC...there is a reason for that.
  4. According to the law, privately operated does not trump the ownership by the county.
  5. Really like the universal bar. I use it on a 9000G. I always adjust slowly by opening the orifice. If i need less I go below the load and work it up...again stopping while opening the bar.
  6. just laugh and don't shoot. You will shoot 3 times and cuss...just save the ammo and master the routine shots. I have been quite fortunate to be blessed with multiple friends who are farmers and have always had several good shoots every year. Two great shoots so far, looking forward to Monday's foray
  7. AJ, just saw this. My prayers for continued speedy and full recovery.
  8. Simply renew….have 8 yrs to do so, but cannot carry in a lot of situations you were use to until permit in hand.
  9. On the other hand, instead of letting it ride....he can do the arrest and let the DA do the decision making,,,,,,,just sayin'
  10. It is still very much a grey area, IMO. It will be officer dependent. But it may cost one some legal fees as the charge will be carrying with the intent to be armed. I got this straight from the director if HCP division and he says no can do. Same in a lot of states. That’s why our military exception clause hurt us in reciprocity.
  11. Chris Vittetoe 865-237-2547. Has been in Knoxville for years. Dependable, quality work.
  12. Civilians, military, LEO, or competitors all start with a solid foundation of essential skills which take consideralby more time than what a ECP course requires. I wish someone would tell me just what level of training is necessary when the bad guy picks the time and place. Sure would simplify things, especially when my life or that of a loved one is on the line. Training is a process, not an endpoint.
  13. Aqil Qadir is a Master Rangemaster instructor---top notch www.CitizensSafety.com
  14. Lee Weems shared on RangeMaster FB page that Ronnie passed away today after an UTV rollover accident. So sorry to hear this, Got to train with him a couple of months ago. Nice guy and a loss for our community. Prayers for the family.
  15. And as a privately owned entity, they may post per 39-17-1359(b)1
  16. JN01 your reference is correct. Local gov can post but must have trained 'wanders' and search personnel at each public entrance. IMO, they could ask you to leave but not cite you as posted.
  17. Accuracy is king. Follow up shots may be needed. That’s why so many agencies ditched the 40 in favor of the 9.
  18. Bump........coming up this Saturday. Class size will be limited.
  19. What red dot do you have?
  20. There actually is a state law that voids other violations in the case of justifiable self defense use of a firearm. Several years ago in Knoxville, a convicted felon shot a convenience store robber and could not be prosecuted for possession of a weapon.
  21. Understand, but when searching, never point your weapon at something or someone you don’t intend to shoot. That’s exactly the problem with a WML for most unless you ‘bounce’ the light.
  22. Yes, but handheld should be primary light.
  23. In general fist fights that turn into shootings are not a good thing. Unless there are extenuating circumstances, deadly force isn't acceptable. Additionally, even with stand your ground law in TN, avoidance can be deemed the more reasonable thing to do and put the shooter in an unfavorable position for self defense. Will be an interesting story to follow.
  24. shotgun and 00 buck is hard to beat...pretty definitive
  25. If you are in the surrounding Knoxville area, I will be holding the Enhanced Handgun Carry class at Pellissippi State, Hardin Valley, Saturday, Nov 13. Starts 8 AM. Call 865-539-7167 for details. This is the permit that gives you the best protection and broadest carry privileges in TN plus the most state reciprocity.
