  1. Same here except for the thumb break or carrying a striker fire but always one in the chamber. I've had these discussions with the folks that freak out over a cocked 1911 when they see that hammer back.
  2. I had a 22/45, loved it except for the molded grips on the older models. I found a MkIII with the volquartsen trigger and a slew of other mods, I love it. That said I might get a newer 22/45 with the 1911 grips.
  3. +1 for the scansnap. I have the portable version and it is good for up to 20 pages. I scan to Evernote which works as a document manager for my modest needs. There is paperless and iDocument from icyblaze, I haven't used either.
  4. As far as licensing no one will talk to you without a legal call sign. As I remember 90% of the electronics parts of the general test is ohms law. The advanced test is very close ( or was when I took both) to the FCC Commercial license test. The hardest part of the extra was the now dropped 20wpm cw. Go for or, keep the hobby alive.
  5. There are some maps available for the Caney and Elk RIvers. Fly South or Cumberland Transit may have them or they can be ordered from http://www.xtremetrout.com. I usually wade just below the dam, Lancaster, Happy or Betty's. I may need to sell some guns and get a boat
  6. Welcome from just down the road in Fernvale
  7. I believe its behind the jail on Century Ct off of Columbia Ave.
  8. Love my Caracals, have two C's The quick sight does require some getting used to but is much more intuitive to me than the figure 8 sights. I personally can't wait for the SC, I'll be all over that when its available here. There is a range somewhere near Knoxville who is a TGO supporter and has the caracal F for rent.
  9. I agree about the user error, I'm not so sure how I would react under stress if I actually had to use my UCII. I ran through ~500 rounds one day in a class with none of the technical issues, user error is so unpredictable though.
  10. My 5" 1911 amazes me, the 3" not so much. My Glock 19 was almost as natural as my Caracal C.
  11. I too have both the G26 and the PM9 as well as a Kubota I Love them all
  12. Franklin was $10 more than useltons and Nashville Sporting Arms for the same holster
  13. I just picked up a Dan Wesson Heritage, its less $$$ than the Valor but a nice first full size 1911.
  14. Stopped in Starbucks this morning, I asked how many two dollar bills they had gotten this morning, none.
  15. who is D&L ? I'm looking for a nice 1911 also.
  16. High ground training offers a few classes to civilians however more for LEO. They have a tactical carbine class as well as two handgun classes for HCP holders too. I took the Phase one handgun course and can vouch for the instructor, it was a very good class. I'm planning on taking everything they offer. They are in middle Tn, class was taught in Franklin.
  17. so how do you cook 'em ? , I had to ask
  18. I saw this flow chart about California's assault rifle law on calguns.net http://www.calguns.net/caawid/flowchart.pdf[
  19. The second picture is not the figure 8 sights but the quick sight which I understand is very rare in the US. Here is a side by side of my two, standard on the left and quick sights on the right. phone pic quality or lack thereof
  20. Blade-tech makes holsters for both F and C, 3-4 week lead time. ddleatherworks in East Tn makes a carry holster, check out [/url]Caracal Forum
