I had a B&W tv in my bedroom when I was really young. We had a rotary dial in the kitchen till I was in high school.

When you grew up playing video games .......and you can't play them anymore because they are too complicated.

Why would you want to?

Back on topic; I currently carry Winchester Ranger T 124g +p+. I use that because a good friend gave me a couple boxes. 'Bout twice a year I'll shoot the magazine empty and replace them. When they're gone I will go back to carrying a good proven cast boolit of my own making. I have a good 135g mold with a nice meplat. Large meplats work every bit as well as a fancy whizz bang holler point. I'll bet you they'll penetrant better too.

There's an old urban legend that the CIA load 7,62x39 ammo with a high explosive like RDX or Composition 4 and let it find its way to the enemy in Vietnam Nam. I have NO source to substantiate that but its a rather comical idea. Haji go boom!

I'm happy for you 'Ride. Glad you can relax. Ain't my business to tell nobody this but SOMEBODY needs a trip to the woodshed. Several somebody's. ...somebody had to say it. :)

Turn up Cox Pike next to Food Saver grocery. It's right behind the grocery store where the barber shop used to be. It's in the building Pisgah stained glass used to be in.

Yup, I need to turn them on to David too for reloading components. I see tooling through the window but no components. Lucky for them, I know the best source for powder, primers & bullets the eastern coast has to offer. Our very own David Mosley.

There's a new gunshop opening in Fairview. It's called "The Green Dragon". Peeking through the window I see shelves full of goodies including reloading stuff. It's literally less than a 2 minute walk away. If I cut through the neighbors yard, I could probably do it in a minute flat. Sign says opening soon. Needless to say, I'll be down there trying to sell them on signing up to be a vendor here. Exciting!

Cast Boolits and Coffee grounds?
Caster replied to z0mbies fear me's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Ohh you're openin' up a can'o worms! One of my current favorites is an RCBS mold I have. It was a 30-180-SP that dropped a nice looking boolit but they sucked, wouldn't shoot fer sheet in my rifle. I set the mold blocks up in my drill press, run a indicator across it to make sure it was in there square and then I used a press fit 5/16 reamer (.3115) to carefully remove the gas check shank. The boolits fall a hair over .312 with a faint line from the cut. Run them through a .311 sizer and they look perfect. Seated to lightly engrave on the rifling, over 8.0g of Unique. I fired 20 rounds at 25 yards inside a one inch circle. A 12 o'clock hold will bust clay targets at 100 yards until you get bored with it. Best part, plain base means even cheaper. I usually load 50 for a range trip; cost around $4.50-5.00. -
Wish mine would chime in here. Shoulda been there by now. Starting to get worried.

Cast Boolits and Coffee grounds?

Typically a filler is used on cases a lot larger. I shoot a LOT of Unique in .308 and I've never had ignition issues. I've even shot 3.0g of bullseye for some fun bunny fart loads. Never needed a filler. I've even tipped the rifle forward before firing a 10.0g charge of Unique and didn't see any difference in ignition or grouping. There WAS a difference with the bullseye load but that IS a 308 case with only 3 grains of powder. Lol. The most common filler is Dacron. A small tuft in the case to hold the powder in place. Remember too, filler with smokeless ain't the same as filler with black powder. A filler with smokeless can and will increase pressures as it essentially reduces case capacity. You can't have airspace with back powder (very bad) so the way to reduce the load is to use a filler. We're the old guys you remember using black powder loads? Do what you like but I don't really see a need for a filler with the load you are using. I dont load 44 but i do load 45 colt and one of my favorite powders is AA Nitro 100. Charge weights are similar to your IMR powder. I've had nothing but good results from it. Just be safe. -

This would be a good thing. There are LEO's on TGO that may not sign in every day. -
That is awesome brother! I've always wanted one too but if they're like a garand, they don't handle heavy weights too well. Is that true of these ? I'm a huge fan of heavier weights. 175g in my 308 does extremely well. Not that 150g can't handle any and all chores. Hope it's everything you want it to be.

Bet that divers gotta friend for life!

Mine shoulda been delivered yesterday or today; it went out Friday. I could do without a nice gift if the whole thing just goes the way it should and we don't get the dead beat douche bags like last year. ......then again, management being what it is here, those D-bags got banned, rightfully so. Happy Christmas TGO.

Yup, mailed mine last week. We gonna start a new thread so we can share what kinda loot we get?

There is a LOT of FA weapons in this country. A LOT more than most people would ever guess. Personally I find full auto absolutely worthless. Even the above average person does NOT have the training to handle one effectively.

I was proud of 'em. You're never too young to refuse to die.
