  1. No I didn't notice. BUT, if it can be had, he can get it.
  2. David's got it. Last time I got powder from him, he had several jugs.
  3. Well, maybe I'm the only one on TGO who, given a consequence free environment, would like to see the world helped out a bit by putting a skim net and some chlorine to the ole gene pool. God knows we need it. Lol!
  4.     Cause it's NOT poor etiquette. Every movie I've seen in the last decade has a little commercial asking you to shut off devices.  After THAT time, it IS considered being an asshat to use them.
  5. I think I much rather you shoot me as opposed to making my head the next Flatwoods Forge creation.
  6. We've ALL thought about doing this. NOT justifying it or condoning it. It was a horribly stupid thing and feel for the family but really, how many of us have sat there with our old lady and our popcorn and soda and thought, "You rude SOB, if you only knew how easy I could ...." Yeah, it's wrong but we can't act like we don't know where the dumb old fart was coming from. I will undoubtedly be labeled a heartless insensitive sob (would you expect any less from me?) BUT, maybe enough people will hear this tragedy and think to themselves, "I think I'll put my phone away, I don't want some whack job nut case shooting me over a text message"
  7. Exactly. I don't think we're gonna open a bottle of Jim Beam and pour a shot Sake any time soon.
  8. They wouldn't do it, if people didn't buy it. It's just capitalism.
  9. It's a global world. National pride [production] is a dying animal. At least it got sold to a nationality of people who aren't known for butt raping companies and driving them into the ground like a fence post. Japanese businessmen are cutthroat and ruthless but they know how to run businesses. It's why Toyota makes money and good products while GM loses money and builds garbage. With a little luck, the Japanese businessmen who are buying this realize the products need NOTHING and are perfect the way they are. There's nothing wrong with Miroku made Winchesters, Howa rifles or Sumitomo machine guns. Work ethics from the Japanese people could be a model the US could stand to learn (relearn more appropriately) from.
  10. I use a Serpa. It allows a bit of air flow and won't hold moisture. I was a dyed in the wool Galco man until recently. In the last few years I've nearly ruined two guns on account of them. They are great and very well made but they hold sweat and are NOT for the outdoor working man. Nor is any other holster like that unless you are going to open carry. I don't deep conceal but I do cover with a loose t shirt. Sweat runs down my sides and back in the summer months and metal is a sweat magnet. IWB, I would NEVER consider btw.
  11. God! Ain't that the truth. If I hear CNC in a conversation it makes me wanna puke. I just ask people who are hung up on it " Have you ever run one?" Well, I have. Several. I've run Haas and Mazak machines that will hold +/- .0001 under the rit circumstances. I've run a Fadal that couldn't be trusted to +/- .001. I've run a Bidgeport EZpath (we called them sleezypaths) that couldn't circular interpolate a hole fer $hit. More like a decagon. I've also seen machines run by imbeciles. The machines were capable but not the machinist. Set up, program, tool offsets & quality of that tooling is EVERYTHING. I've seen talented (seriously talented!) Tool makers, usually twice my age who can put many fancy automated machines to shame for quality. CNC shines ONLY when competent people set it up, and of course for volume production they can't be beat. For anyone who'd care to argue; pick up the most expensive current production revolver. ...and I said PRODUCTION not a Hamilton Bowen custom. Then take a long look a 150 year old Colt that's been moderately taken care of. If you have an unlimited bank account and wanted the finest shotgun there is, you'd probably buy something like a Holland & Holland. They use CNC machining centers, but nowhere near as much as Remington. Until we get A.I. there will NEVER be a machine that can out craft a human hand. Ohh sure, you can get some wild geometries from multi axis but it still has to fitted.....by hand. I've seen (not in person) a ten axis machining center making impellers for the space shuttle fuel pumps. They still need a human hand to be finished. Okay,I'm done.
  12. Melonite. All the way.
  13. Chrome moly is a generic term given to the masses for 'Oooo & Ahhh" appeal. It's just an abbreviation of some of the elemental content to the steel itself. 4140, 4142, 4150 and SEVERAL more variants are all 'chrome moly'. All of these steels are easily heat treated. They are a very good working grade non tool steel. Typically, its my understanding that barrels aren't "hardened" anyway. Stress relieved for sure on your better made barrels but hardening them would not be a good thing. They loose their elasticity and ability to give. Despite the fact that we try to reduce harmonics and flex and whip and all other manner of things with bull barrels and what not, and barrel that doesn't give to some degree is not a good thing.
  14. This little Kershaw that secret Santa gave me is really hangin in there. I'm very happy with it. Very stiff belt clip, I like that. Razor edge and I've been using it, not lookin at it. I'll likely buy another one if anything happens to this one.
  15. Also remember to never kill crows. Crows chase hawks and hawks will decimate a covey.
  16. Maybe point it downrange, hold firmly by the grip and use a rubber mallet to whack the rear of the slide and try to get it into battery????
  17.     ……probably not.     :yum:  :yum:  :yum:
  18.   So did it here!  Underneath that growth stay VERY cool.  If you're worried about it floating away, I can make you a zinc anchor that WON'T.  LOL.
  19.     You know, that may be an option.  Pharmaceuticals are easy peasy in mexico.  Crossing the border aint too hard, though doing it suitably armed may be more trouble than its worth.  MIght settle for relocating to an area where you can plant the family safely on US soil and you can to make a mule run back and forth.     Not sure on how easily it could be done headed north.  I know a good solid bolt action won't land you underneath a prison in Canada like mexico.  Might wanna stash the AR and Glock before you go though.
  20. I didn't know that.  MIght get a thermometer and check any spring that you're prospecting.  I'd check it in the dead of winter and in the middle of summer.  Right now being the perfect time to find one.  It AIN'T gonna get colder than it is right now. LOL
  21.     Can you [feasibly] get insulin TOO cold?  Just curious because it'd be no chore to keep it cold right now should the power go out.   'Bout the second week of July might be a little tough though.     Creek, might I suggest you look for a fresh water spring in your area?  When I was a child, my favorite spot on earth was a fresh water spring that came outta the ground under a two trees that grew from one trunk. THis was my thoughtful spot where I contemplated the mysteries of the universe. {hid from mom and smoked cigarettes!LOL} THere was a concrete wall to both sides funneling it into the creek.  Over it was a concrete walkway.  The whole thing was about ten ft square.  My great grand father built it MANY moons ago.  The water was VERY cold even in the heat of august.  THis is where he kept milk, creme and eggs in the summer months.  It might do you well to locate and build you something similar.  A minnow bucket would work great.  You could put insulin vials in ziplock bags and put them in the minnow bucket.  Make you a tether cord from nylon and anchor it.  If you rig you a bucket, bring it by and I'll make you a lead anchor for it.     You can get creative about camouflaging it.
  22.         This is a REALLY good recipe.  Although, I deleted the lemon juice and replaced it with a healthy dose of Wild Turkey American Honey.     I have some in the dehydrator now.  I can't be around it when its dehydrating……I'll be knawin' on raw meat like a frickin' dog!  Man it smells good.
  23. AR firing pins are cheap and plentiful. Anyone's a fool not to keep a fair number of spares. I keep half a dozen on hand....just in case.
  24. Don't watch it around the kids. It's an awesome pair of movies, but not the cleanest of language.
