  1. Back during the Obama panic buying frenzy, THIS is what myself and several others here on TGO tried to warn everyone about. It's simple economics. A market that spikes fast, tanks fast. The market exploded like a hydrogen bomb, now......deals abound. Especially to the patient and diligent. Awesome score! Good for you.
  2. I'd like to invent an Eotech style dot sight. Bear with me here....the device has a motion sensor that makes the circle surround the dot slowly flicker until movement stops. That way as you scan for target, the flicker draws attention to the spot you should be looking. The motion sensor shouldn't be overly sensitive though so it doesn't disturb your aim when you pause for a shot. Also the dot and circle should be different colors. I believe this would help me because I CAN actually see the dot, but it takes several seconds to find it. Moving causes me to lose it. I can shoot my wife's Eotech somewhat as long as it's on its brightest setting because the circle draws my eye to the dot. Problem is an Eotech's reticle gets fuzzy at wide open throttle. This problem will never be addressed though, there's no money in it. There's not enough people with fricked up eyes like mine to justify what it'd cost to develop the product.
  3. Stupidity should be painful. I have no mercy or sympathy for the adults here. It's a shame the little kid has to grow up with that on it's conscience. I'm sure tax payers money will have to support this kid for a lifetime of emotional trauma.
  4. Expansion should be decent. That's quite a cavity in the nose there. Let us know how they shoot.
  5. I have an astigmatism and am color blind (red/green). There are no red dots that I can use. Aim point and Eotech, both set on the highest setting, I cannot see unless it's almost dark out. Sucks. Ohh well, thanks Nikon, for building affordable, top quality scopes.
  6. I love me some strange loads. Matter of fact, that's about all I study about lately. Kinda like my .454 Casull Handi rifle using a modified Lee .458-500 mold that I machined the bottom driving band and lube groove off of to make a .380g plain base.
  7. Dang right Daddyo, One of the greatest example in my opinion were all the nazi made (and marked) Mausers that got a nice big Star of David stamped on them and used by the Israelis for a time. That was ironic beauty at its best.
  8. Doesn't Kimber make a two shot pepper spray pistol thingy? That might be good
  9. Well, they ain't making land anymore.  What are they supposed to do, let it sit vacant?     Don't know why people would get all upset.  That crap happened and you can't change history.  The world should let it go.  Get busy living or get busy dying.
  10. As soon as an applicable problem presents itself, They'll have already invented the answer!
  11. Reckon this guy likes Zevtech?       Looks awesome BTW.
  12. Pepper Spray in her pocket, a lead ingot in her purse and a "Don't stop just cause they hit the ground" attitude.     Squirt him & beat him.  Rinse and repeat as necessary.
  13.     Those two cartridges WOULD be on an SB2 frame.  No worries there.  Of those two, I would take the .223 simply for the ease and economy....unless you're already into the 22-250 that is.     It's looked down on by some but a Handi in .223 will take deer just fine with the right bullet.  A 70g Barnes TSX will get it done.  It'll lend itself well to pretty much anything else around here too except squirrels.  No centerfire on that.  Although a 55g RCBS 22-055-SPGC over some Trail Boss would be about the same as a 22LR.  I wouldn't tempt a Game Warden with that argument though.
  14.     If you can find them.  In Remington's infinite wisdom {ie-stupidity} the barrel accessory program is no more.  You can no longer send it back to the factory for other barrels to be fitted.  Second hand market is crazy $$$ right now.         I will second the .357 though with a few cautions.  Most of them are on SB1 actions.  Strong enough for the .357 but not for other centerfire rifle cartridges.  The throat on these things too are like a $2 whore.  I couldn't reach the rifling on mine with a 200g RCBS 35-200 and that's a fairly long bullet.  Accuracy was 'OK' but I ended up reaming mine to .358 Winchester (Mine IS on an SB2 action).
  15. As far as the age thing, there is no line in the sand.  I see people at the range regularly that have NO BUSINESS in the vicinity of a weapon.  Many MANY so called adults are far too incompetent to handle a firearm.  Conversely, I have seen a fair few young'uns with more maturity and personal responsibility than the two adults that propagated them.   As a parent the responsibility of defining that is solely up to you.   Had I a child that displayed both the interest and proper attitude, I would have no qualms about introducing them to whatever firearm they showed interest in.  Especially with respect to a single shot.  The diminutive size of a rimfire doesn't make it any safer.
  16. I have a 30/30 Handi Rifle and while I wouldn't recommend it for safety reasons, I have loads that would cleanly take deer at 50-75 yards (typical TN ranges) and I could shoot them with buttplate on my nose. 130g Lee flat point gas check, sized .311, LBT blue soft lube, Hornady check, Win brass, Win LRP, 7.5g of Unique, seated to lightly engrave upon closing. This load will shoot five rounds at fifty yards .750" all day long. Noise is very low and recoil is laughable.
  17.   People have realized that with shortages and gouging still amuck, the .22 rimfire has become a joke.  The .223 can be loaded down very easily to the same performance level for about the same price, not counting the initial set up cost.   A 35g Vmax could be loaded to .22 velocities with a mild dose of Green Dot or equiv.     I've never been a .22 fan but in recent years, I've gone as far as to become a .22 rimfire hater.  It's just a waste of time that puts you at the mercy of the ammo manufacturers.  No custom tailoring to your specific needs.
  18. A few months ago I would have recommended an H&R Handi Rifle but their quality is falling fast [THANKS A LOT REMINGTON!]   A fine upstanding fellow liar friend of mine  :pleased: who happens to be a member here as well recently bought a CVA single shot in .35 Remington.  Its the base model and can be bought VERY reasonably.  I was astounded at the quality compared to the H&R.  It is miles ahead.     I don't see a .223 listed until you get to the much more expensive models but you can get one in .300 blackout or .35 Remington.  If you're handloading.....and shame on you if you ain't, even the .35 Remington can be made VERY gentle, even for someone as little as 6 years old.  Think; 158g cast bullet for .38 special and about 10.0g of Unique.  Then, as he grows, so can the load.     The .35 Remington my friend has, is now a .358 Winchester.  A simple reamer job and it's even more formidable.     The .300 BLK is even better.  Even factory ammo should be very easy on the lad AND, if you teach him shot placement, the .300 BLK will put a deer down just fine.
  19. Comcast will find a way to F it up.  It may take a few months, but they'll find a way.
  20. They keep this stuff at the local wallyworld for $12 a box.  It shot clean and functioned okay but I was not impressed by the 25 yard patterns.  Of course I'm shooting from an 18" cylinder bore Weatherby, BUT...3" Hornady Coyote 00 buck will keep the majority of the pellets on center/point of aim for my gun.  These shot very high and to the right.  Consistent, but not very good.  Obviously, everyone's gun will vary.
  21.     I caught that and was gonna post a comment about it, then I seen yours.  This got my attention right off the bat.
  22. You can't say hurtful things like that. It might insult someone.
  23. Fixed that for ya.
  24. Ammonia don't do squat. Th only thing in Windex that gets the corrosive salts out is the water. Hot water. Hotter the better (up to a point). I made a funnel for my Mausers that fit the breech end with a hose and would pour boiling water through. Then clean as normal. Really hot water does two things, cleans a little better and dries more thoroughly after the barrel gets nice and toasty. Never a bad idea to take a look see about two,or,three days after. One little speck corrosive salt missed and here comes Rusty. Oil well, don't sweat over it. American shooters really obsess about this but the rest of the world has been shooting corrosive with little to no issue. Corrosive primers will store better than our non corrosive primers also. It's great ammo for stockpiling.
