  1. The grand delusion of "Armor piercing". *scoff* People truly labor unr the delusion that AP ammo is the evil that defeats armor. First myth: .223 ammo is NOT armor peircing in the traditional sense. It's only function is to defeat soft armor worn by people. It's pretty sad when usd against ARMOR such as an APC or a tank. The old black tip '06 was meant to punch through concrete walls and LIGHT armor. Second myth: And this is something the left PROBABLY shouldn't be educated on. Punching a hole in armor is not the only way to defeat it. I highly doubt a .50 cal muzzle loader will penetrate a high quality Kevlar vest, I don't know. I DO KNOW, if hit by one and it doesn't penetrate....you STILL won't be in th action. 12g slugs, my .358 Winchester with a 230g cast bullet @ 2000fps....none of these penetrate quality vests. ALL of these will likely break ribs, crack a sternum, collapse a lung, rupture a spleen, cause cardiac arrest and who knows what else. Phrase of the day? Blunt force trauma. ....and as far as hard armor goes, insurgents have proven, the most rudimentary homemade weapon works wonders. Flammable liquid in a glass bottle. Armor is still intact sure but unless there's an on board oxygen supply, a blanket of fire will suck all the oxygen out of the armored structure/vehicle. Chances are, you WILL come out or die, thereby essentially defeating the armor. All these things are just moves in a chess match and anyone with a little common sense understands that.

    Hi Point 9mm

Dolomite is right. I watched them fire a compressed load of bullseye and it survived. My Glock would die on the spot. So would ANY 1911, M&P or XD. Not sure I've ever HEARD of another pistol survive multiple bore obstructions. What it took to finally kill it is pretty insane. I'll agree again with Dolomite on the blow back. Once pressure builds enough to overcome the weight of the slide and tension of the spring, the slide moves back. Any remaining pressure escapes out the ejection port. Meaning, you may get a face full of gas but you're NOT holding a pipe bomb. Final destruction came from a bore obstruction and a c clamp. The clamp essentially made it a locked breech. Pressure has to go SOMEWHERE. If they could only engineer a steel slide with a depleted uranium core so they could get the weight required but reduce the overall size of the slide, they could engineer a design with ergonomics equal to any other and have a pistol that is far safer than any other on the market.

    Hi Point 9mm

HiPoints are like ugly chicks who can cook. You might not show em off but you don't mind going home to em.
  4. Carb cleaner wouldn't hurt anything either.  Might break some stubborn crud loose.
  5. Last one I had was a Norinco clone. Shot well, better than the last real winchester matter of fact......but...if you have a high ride hold, that bolt will slice you like a razor blade. Not a fan of that at ALL.
  6. I'd trade every handgun I own for a Varon T Disruptor.
  7. They're love/hate guns.  People love 'em or hate 'em.  They require a bit of tuning to run cowboy action.  They can be quite picky.   I don't like them at all.  Most of the time it's not noticeable but after a shot is fired, the slide must move forward a hair before it comes back.  MOST of them move that much from recoil.  Last one I had did not.  It was VERY frustrating.
  8. You're gonna like it.....the guys standing/shooting next to you WON'T.
  9. Show of hands: How many people have AR's that Dolomite is in someway responsible for getting it work right?
  10. Monkeylizard hits on something that I REALLY hate about this show.   Most of the world is dead or undead right?   You mean to tell me they can't find clean clothes, decent equipment, maybe not ammo or food, I understand that....but come on!  House after empty house and you're wear NASTY clothes?????   I swear to God I would have something in common with Paris Hilton in the zombie apocalypse....I would NEVER EVER wear the same clothes more than 24 hrs.  Hell, I'd wear clean blouse and a skirt before I would wear what I see Rick roaming about in.  Not like there's a lot of people to laugh at you.   Blood, sweat & ....other stuff.....I can't stand to be dirty when there's no need to be.   Cleanliness would be of the UTMOST importance here as it relates to your health.         AND, yes, WHY are they not in a 1.5 million dollar super RV????  Like an Actionmobil????   http://actionmobil.com/en/4-axle/desert-challenger
  11. I have thought a lot about this and it still pisses me off something fierce. I wish I could give you the body of a 19yr old, fresh out of Marine Corp Basic......I bet you could have got that guys head pretty far up his own azz.
  12.     Yes and no.  I do not believe Carol is even remotely this stupid.  I believe the chocolate is her "getting caught contingency"  If she is ever accused, say the little boy comes forward.....she can admit to taking the chocolate and act remorseful while freely accepting punishment.  This would take the focus off the guns and with a little luck, put the matter to rest.       It's what I would have done.  Lesser crimes often cover up larger ones.
  13. Yeah...a motorcycle!!!!
  14. I wonder if he could come up with any good cripple jokes with the muzzle of your 1911 touching his uvula?

    Dollywood

Went there for Christmas a few years ago.  $15 for a plastic cup of hot chocolate.....BUT, refills were free for the day.     I was sick at my stomach by the end of the day needless to say and I had the people we were with save their soda cups so i could do a dump and refill.  In the end, the $15 was well worth it.   BUT, the guys are right, Dolly's stuff is PRICEY!
  16. I don't even like shotguns much and I love that.  A5's and those hump back Remingtons.  They're just a good looking meat getter.  Classy.  Not like the camo plastic you find on the rack today.
  17. I've had several Ruger's.  To me, they couldn't hold a candle to Greg's Pre-64 there.  BUT, that's just my opinion which is worth precisely dick.
  18.     Well, the range most of us use here in Middle TN does just that.  You can't find a more polite gentleman than Charlie Haffner.  You just can't.  He POLITELY reminds everyone on the intercom EVERY TIME the range is called clear "No handling weapons while people are down range."  He ain't rude about it and it's not 100% set in stone.  It's his discretion as to how that's enforced.  What I mean by that; People show carrying their firearms during clear.  He says nothing.  People are packing away their things and leaving.  He says nothing.  You pick up a weapon and are "Looking at it" or holding it in any way.  He will ask you to set it down.     I have been shooting there for a long time.  I have never seen it become an issue.  Not even once.  I'm sure it HAS, but I ain't seen it.  This is why I take a similar approach with btq96r.  I go EARLY on an obscure day.  It's a ghost town.  I get my work/fun finished just in time for the crowd to start showing up and I leave.     I openly admit to being a hypocrite on the 2nd amendment.  I believe we have the right and don't want to see ANY of it infringed in any way shape form or fashion......I just prefer if 99.9% of the country exercised their right far away from me cause at the end of it all, the only fella I REALLY and TRUELY trust with a gun is the fella that watches me brush my teeth in the morning.  That may not be right, but I don't care.  It is what it is and I just DO NOT trust people in general.  Fools abound.
  19. Remember when Winchester didn't have to farm out to a Japanese company to get quality?     ...I don't, I was born in '77, but still, It's a shame you can't get a production model rifle, made in the USA, that's THAT nice anymore.  Savage is great but not pretty or finely finished.  Remington makes doodoo.  Weatherby costs a FORTUNE unless you buy a Japanese made model {see a trend here?}   Montana and Cooper are out of most of our leagues.       NICE.  VERY nice indeed.
  20. Meanwhile all the dipsts he goes to school with are at home playing a video game......     You're a cool dad.  Kings to you Greg.           ,,,,,ohh yeah, NICE!!!!!!!  Tell him he Dun Good!
  21.     Yeah, cause God knows no one could ever hurt themselves with that antiquated boat anchor.   :waiting:  :shake:   A Fool can hurt himself with anything.     https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-rGnMKszxg
  22.     Gotdang right!  Just leave me be and stop telling me how your crap is 5000000 fps fast better tacticool.....piss off!!!!
  23. A gun you can't shoot is worthless.
  24. My range has a pretty strict policy of No handling weapons when people are down range. Unloaded or not, it's just common courtesy to people who don't know you. I don't handle mine when the range is clear and people are setting targets. There's no reason to. I wouldn't care if wasn an FBI weapons specialist, i don't trust anyone in that respect. To answer the OP, there's never a reason for people being a know it all douche but, there's no reason not to respect others safety at the range and as I said, just cause YOU know theyre not loaded don't mean others do. Btw, I hate those kinda range officers too. Thankfully Charlie run those off.
  25. ....These are also very good at shoveling bovine excrement.
