Are you deburring them? New brass often has some right nasty burrs from the extruding process and even high end companies like Starline can't be bothered to chamfer cases. The inside burr will grab the expander.

Another thing, this is an SB1 receiver. Cast and NOT heat treated like a SB2 rifle action. They are MORE than sufficient to hold what they were designed for but not much else. If it were me, I'd make some .410 brass hulls from .444 Marlin brass and make me a slug mold that would be snug fit to the full choke. Cast from dead soft lead, you should just enough obturation to get a good seal but not an interference fit. That would keep pressures down and make accuracy pretty decent for a smooth bore. A compressed load of FF Goex or Swiss would be a LOT of fun, quite powerful and as long as you understand the rules for Holy Black (NO AIR SPACE!) it would be safer than smokeless. Hmmm, now you got my gears turning. Might have to write that down for later.

I miss drinking. I can't take so much as a shot anymore. It hurts my stomach so bad it nearly cripples me. It's only started in the last few years. Saddest part is the bottles on the shelf over my gun safe. Johnny Walker Blue label, Gold label & Black label along with an unopened bottle of Glen Levitt. Thank God I can still drink beer or I would just walk out in front of oncoming traffic.

MObile 1 synthetic. I bought two quarts of some oddball weight (0w-15) at Walmart a few years ago because they were red tagged half price. For about $10 I have a half gallon of REALLY good lube and I use it on guns and my presses. Unless I pull a full on Caster and spill it, it will last for whats left of my life.

Lightening a Savage action....

Some folks are just whining bitches.

Just sold mine but it is far and away the best poly lower I've ever seen. Threaded brass inserts for grip and stock. Very well made. My one and only complaint was a couple of burrs in the detent sprin passageways. No biggie, just took several minutes with a dentist pick to clean it out. Fit was tight. I bought mine for $60 out the door. $50 plus $10 for a lower ain't bad.

I worked in a machine shop for 12 years or so. Mills, lathes, and on the tail end there, a little programming for Fadal machining center. I learned a thing or two. The Machinists Second Ammendment Creed I will give up my ability to construct a steel tube, enclosed on one end, capable of launching projectiles at high velocities when they pry the knowledge from my cold dead brain. I can NOT make a Browning A bolt. I can NOT build a S&W revolver. ....but, I CAN build a gun from scraps. It ain't even difficult.

Yes it is that guy. I won't give his name or company name as he is not a vendor and that is NOT fair to our vendor sponsors here at TGO. .....but you're right he is super awesome.

I tell people everyday, It don't take many tires to pay for struts and an alignment. ESPECIALLY if you're buying new tires. anything that's not aligned right will wear tires. Get that crap fixed and get it aligned. It will pay for itself quickly when you're not replacing tires.

Not bad. At least it ain't got one of the godawful AR15 stocks on there.

I don't know. I don't care for either size. .35 caliber is where the magic is. You ain't lived until you've got into a .358 Winchester. By far my favorite center fire round.

Reloader question. Cheap source for lead.

Rob is VERY MUCH correct. The Tinsel Fairy is a cruel, merciless bitch. -
There's NOTHING out here on Armslist. Without a very few decent shops like Guns & Leather and Everything Weapons, We wouldn't have anything at all. All the deals are east.

HiPower is right. West side is a sheet hole.

Charlie is from a different time, a different world. They just don't make fellas like him anymore. He is one of THE nicest gentlemen the state of TN has to offer.

Thinking of getting a dog...please choose rescue.
Caster replied to Trekbike's topic in General Chat
To anyone who abuses, neglects or mistreats an animal; I hope you die in a slow burning house fire. Anyone who would just abandon an animal like that is lower than human. I would have more respect for [not much] a person who just put a bullet in the dog's head as opposed to abandoning it to the elements and predators. My current companion was a rescue. He's now 13, eat up with cancer and living on borrowed time. He also has hip dysplasia and has difficulty getting around. He was beaten and starved when I got him. He's been with me 12 years now, and I've had dogs before him, but he's REALLY taught me the definition of what a friend is. I think more of him than most humans I meet. Now he spends most of his days in bed. I bought him a baby crib mattress and I keep it in the shop with me so we can hang out all day, everyday. He usually just watches me trim brass in between customers. LOL. He's on a two different pain meds now and I don't expect him to last much longer. He's the best friend I've ever had. Sorry for the thread drift. -
Speaking of music, I heard a song in a commercial tonight. It's not new but I'm only just now paying attention to it I guess. It goes: "You're so cute I wanna wear you like a suit I bet you'd look really good on me." Who the F wrote that? Buffalo Bill from Silence of the Lambs?!!!!???!!!

How does one employ a taser against a half dozen fine examples of Amerikan Ghetto Trash at once?
