It would be nice to have doctors like that again.  At 37 yrs old, only doctors I've seen [other than an ophthalmologist and my chiropractor] has been because I couldn't get the bleeding to stop.   

You know, I have found that if I put on my seat belt, obey ALL the traffic laws including the speed limit and mind my own business, no one really cares where my guns are in the car.   Just store them responsibly and drive safely to your destination.  I'll give 99.999% guarantee you'll never have an issue.

Does your Mossberg 500 not wanna lock up when you close the slide? Mine gave me fits all morning. I'm in the process of a nasty redneck rattle can camo job. Guess what? The slide release in the trigger group is very very close to receiver. Touching even. The thickness of a little paint will cause the slide release to stick in the 'up' position and if that happens the slide will not lock properly. Basically, best I can figure, the locking lug lucks the bolt into the barrel. The slide release touches little bolt carrier plate thingy and will not allow the bolt to come back, disengaging the locking lug from the barrel. When the trigger is pulled OR the release button is pushed, the little arm in the trigger group moves outta tha way and lets the carrier move backwards. The carrier pulls the locking lug down, unlocking it and you can slide it out of battery. Rinse and repeat. But you guys are smarter than me and already knew this. Just thought I'd pass it along to any future Mossberg tinkerers who might be as dumb as I am. Ohh, the solution? Dremel tool, sanding drum, remove the build up (Krylon) and a few thousandths of aluminum from the inside of the receiver just for good measure.

I've done a reverse ladder test for several cartridges.  No different here.  Start with a known good load and start backing off about .3-.5 grains at a time until you get the desired results.  Moving down slowly will get some short strokes and failure to cycle before you run into a squib.     In an autoloader, you're only going to get 'so much' or in this particular case, 'so little' before you lose reliability.  It takes a certain amount of pressure to operate.  You can definitely dial it down though.  I load .40 but do not shoot it.  My runnin' buddy shoots it and I have made a Lee 175TC cast bullet run very well with Titegroup.  It's fairly gentle as far as .40 S&W goes and quite accurate.  Still barks more than I care for but nothing like some of the high end factory carry ammo.
