  1. Anyone use one? Any recommendations? I'd like one that attaches to an acces. rail. I see Leave No Trace catchers but they look heavy and bulky despite being very well made. Thanks in advance.
  2. Huh Huh! I second the motion.
  3. I see who's ruling this thread! He¬¬ yeah!
  4. Ceremony by Joe Satriani followed closely by Astronomy Metallica's Cover [originally Blue Oyster Cult]
  5. Mary Mother of G_D!!! All you need is a gallon of Purity and to slide the dresser in front of the door for a barricade!
  6. Thin Mints Suck! Samoas are great........man my teeth really hurt!!! J/K (well not about the teeth:rolleyes:) I bought a few boxes from the kids outside of Petsmart the other day. The little asian gal was too cute. Usually I just keep on walking but I am sucker for a little kid that doesn't act like a silly kid. She asked like a real little lady! No slang or ditsy girly crap. "Hello sir, would you like to buy some girlscout cookies this afternoon?" I told her I'd take some samoas if you got any. Her reply "That's an excellent choice sir." Yup, I'm a sucker. She cleaned me out of $50.
  7. My wife has one. It feeds and cycles perfect. Granted it only has a grand total of 50 rounds through it. She shot two boxes of Cor-Bon DPX when she first came home with it. It was surprising actually. I watched closely and it didn't cough fart or belch. We got her a few more boxes of the DPX and called it good. The round count for the life of this pistol will likely not exceed a few hundred in it's lifetime. She'll shoot it a few times a year maybe. I did notice one thing. The unsupported chamber makes a HUGE swollen spot on the brass. It visually noticeable right away. They are unsuitable for reloading. Which is fine no more than it'll be shot. I am curious if ya'll's do the same thing?
  8. :wave:Hi Donn!!!!!!!!!!
  9. It's also rewarding to see the look other's faces when they see your loads; Such as 150g FMJ 308 [nothing out of the ordinary huh?] None of the headstamps actually say 308. Some 243 Win, 270, 25/06 ect. OR when they see an 8mm Mauser loaded with a 250g FPGC cast boolit in FA or LC match cases. OR [not mine, but acquaintances] 303 British loaded with paper patched cast boolit. OR [not mine either] 45 acp jacketed hollow point bullets made from swaging a lead core into 40 S&W cases??? Reloading.......Just how deep down the rabbit hole would you like to travel?
  10. ...and you never will. I love mine. I was merely commenting on one of the many woes of Zinc.
  11. It's not the iron that you should be concerned about. It's zinc. Zinc is not evil but it is not a casters friend either. You should look WW over closely. I use an old pair of pruning snips. If you can't cut it, trash it. You can cut even the hardest lead WW alloy but not zinc. Did you know that the melting temp of alum is around 1200 degrees and zinc is under 800 BUT you can dissolve aluminum in molten zinc? Just like salt dissolves in hot water, but salt actually melts around 1500 degrees. NOW, stop and think about those aluminum Lee molds? Not good.
  12. More panic buying? I know so many gun owners were upset, even insulted at the ammo and component scare a few years ago. There was no ban then, just panic buying. Personally I like panic buying. I made out very well myself. I was selling 7,62x39 for twice what I paid for it. I didn't twist any arms or hold any one up either, I honestly took the first offer and ran. Now look as the prices are falling. There was a time in '09 when I could sell a case of Monarch for $300 EASY. Now it's back down below $200. Also, you can find [if you search] folks who overextended themselves during the panic and need to recoup some of that money now that the rent is behind. Magazines could easily be the same, and those of us who are wise and frugal little squirrels will be all the better for it. The sheep will buy when it's high and sell when it's low. The wise and patient will do the opposite. It's a pillar of capitalist society. As far as a ban? Nahh. First, for the record, who really cares if Promag is backlogged? Most of their products are substandard rubbish anyway. Second, if a magazine ban scares you and you are not new to the shooting world, you have been seriously derelict in your priorities. If you aren't within 90+% of being totally self sufficient you should have a serious sit down with a pencil and paper. I'm not without blame, the ammo scare really made me realize that all the ammo in the world is worthless without the gear and the ever-constantly honed skills to go with it.
  13. I want in on this caliber so bad I can't stand it! There's folks on another forum that use cast boolits for this cartridge with amazing results. I have been toying with the idea of taking up deer hunting next season but I lothe the idea of buying a dedicated deer rifle. Tell me this in an AR wouldn't be the cat's meow inside 150 yards!???! I'm saving, that's all I'm saying, I'm saving up cuz I thinks I like it!
  14. Very sad, but there's no such thing as an accident. Poor judgment, poor parenting, poor teaching, whatever it may be, but the trigger was pulled like Mike said.
  15. With the exception of my AR's you'll likely NEVER see me sticking one of those copper condoms down my barrel. My 308 will hold under and inch at 100 yards with a 200g RNGC skipping along around 1700 FPS or so. The only jacketed pistol bullets I ever load are some someone gave me. I dang sure ain't buyin' 'em! I can water quench a cast 230g RN for 45acp and get it to approx 20-21 BHN. They will penetrate deep and deform VERY little. I dug some out of a stack of phone books once and other than the rifling engraved, you couldn't tell they'd been fired. I can go the other way and soften them up considerably with less tin and antimony and they will mushroom fairly well. Now, for great results I just started casting with Lyman Devastator mold for 9x19. It drops a 130g hollow point. I'm still in the development stages pend better weather for an afternoon at the range, but they have a LOT of promise. A final note for any nay sayers to casting; Tooling cost not included, brass picked up for free at the local range, WW lead is free for me but can be had reasonable for now [it's going to be banned here before long. already is other places] I can load 45 acp for under $60 per thousand. I imagine with the rise in prices, the next time I replenish my stores of powder and primers, my cost will be closer to $65-75 per thousand, but mehh, oh well.
  16. Yessir! Thanks!
  17. Ahhh, okay. Obviously you flare the mouth a bit to guide the bullet in, so just close that bell completely and double check the diameter there with a mic or calipers. I think it's like .473 or so, I can't remember. Check your loading manual for what the diameter is supposed to be and crimp it closed until you get that measurement. You can increase the amount of crimp [wee bit at a time] until the bullet is tight. You should be just fine.
  18. Just do what you want, but don't be an ass, don't try to be GI Joe, and don't get involved in anything illegal. Keep out of the spot light and don't run around bragging about stuff. Wear your camo, tote your rifle, run through a stack of tires and crawl under some wire. I really don't see what the big deal is, BUT I DO see why it becomes a big deal..... Diarrhea of the mouth. SO many things could ride along SO smoothly if people could just stop talking so much. That includes typing too!
  19. Anyone work with Kydex around here?
  20. Not meaning to be a smart ars, but I basically let the Force guide me. I go until I completely close the bell on the mouth, then a smidgen more and good to go. LngRngShtr is right, sacrifice a few dummies to get the feel. It's a breeze really.
  21. I only carry when I am wearing clothes.
  22. Lee's factory crimp die. It's almost impossible to over crimp as the case will buckle first. It's the best money spent, period. It will also iron out any wrinkles that may occur from time to time. It does a proper taper crimp. Seriously, best money you'll spend.

    Got nailed

I've never received a speeding ticket I didn't deserve, and while I drive like an old woman for the most part nowadays, I give up on excuses and talk. There's not one thing you can come up with that they have not heard. The last time I was pulled over I went the opposite way. It was on I40 by a Trooper, so you KNOW you're getting the ticket. He asked me "You know why I pulled you over tonight sir?" I said "Yessir, I was frickin' flyin' back there. What'd ya clock me at? I figure around 85." I got an 83 in a 70. He just smiled. He even commented how polite it was that I had my info out BEFORE he got there and that I kept my hands on the steering wheel the whole time. Funny thing about Troopers, they don't back down from writing a ticket BUT I had lost insurance card also, the wife tried to show him proof on her Iphone and by the fact that we still owe for the vehicle, therefore we have to have full coverage. He said that's not good enough, but neglected to put that on the ticket. He wasn't stupid, he didn't forget. Even small favors are welcome.
  24. The Range Incorporated - Handgun Safety Training Classes For Tennessee They have nashville contact info, but the courses are done at their private range in Hickman county. I have met Mr. Hutcherson and while I have yet to take a class, he is a very nice gentleman and did not seem the least bit asinine or arrogant. I will be taking Advanced Handgun I there later this year.
  25. The Range Inc is right over in Hickman county.
