What's the big deal with carrying at a gun show anyway? You really think you'll get robbed at a place filled predominately with middle class white folks, hell bent on protecting what is rightfully theirs? pppffft. One thing I can say; I have never seen ghetto trash act more respectful toward others than at a bible belt gunshow. I'm sorry if that's a little racist, but it's just one place where thug mentality ain't gonna cut it.

Well, you know you have to post pictures or no one will believe you right?? Just kidding! Savage makes great rifles. I've had several, and I just picked up a model 10 PC in 308 myself. You did alright. No one can compete with Wal-of china-Mart for prices. You'll love the Savage, and to be honest, AND I am sorry cuz I know I am fixin' to really hurt some folks feelings, it's twice the rifle the Mosin is. Okay, maybe not if you need to club a Zombie over the head, but for accuracy, it's going to be tough to beat. Good Job!

Not to be a knowitall, but other that general appearance and caliber, it has nothing in common with an AK. The guts are totally different as are mags. Just so ya know.

I think you may be right, and think you might hit a nerve with a comment like that.......high five!

uhhh, that's Knob Creek.

Just curious, why does it matter? These are stripper clips but I don't want anyone showing film footage from downtown debauchery. They're both stripper clips.

Right, now for jerks with an attitude but not visible weapon, a casual switch to open carry when they aren't looking will change things. Just don't start doing some Clint Eastwood; Slinging back your shirt or jacket and giving the high noon stare.
-
Well, things change and are always in motion, but I don't believe in brandishing. If you remove your weapon, it should be draw sight and fire. Otherwise, leave it there. When the other guy has a gun, he's in control. When you bring a gun into the equation, he loses part of that control. If you're not going to try to put the BG down, then you jeopardize too much by bringing in another gun. Two people do not point guns at each other (only in hollywood) Someone is going to fire. Brandishing, thats just taking too big a risk the BG will react instantly. Could get you, a loved one or a bystander hurt or killed. Don't want that on my hands. I think I could live with a BG's blood on my hands (Don't know/hope I never find out) but my wife or a bystander??? Not worth the gamble. Put the BG down or leave it hidden. Brandishing just escalates the situation. In the end, the most powerful weapon is between your ears. Pay more attention to the people around you. In your mind be biased, partial, racist and judgmental. No need to tell all that, just do it in your mind, and keep lots of open real estate with the sheep and wolves. Some of you can't I know. Social critters, some of you.

I just wondered if anyone had one. I'm not buying a 30/06. There's nothing a 30/06 can do that a 308 cannot in the real world, so I get no benefit from having to tool up for loading another round (if I don't reload it, I don't shoot it). A BM-59 would be awesome bajabuc, but that's dreaming. An M1A is not a Garand, and my wife mentioned a Garand. She asked for Mayonnaise not Miracle Whip. If it were for me, I'd go with an M1A too, but this aint me. 50¢ each I suppose isn't too bad, but I can load 308 for about 30¢ each.
-
Get behind me! I rebuke you! No seriously, I just can't, after culling over a dozen calibers, get back to accumulating more. I only load for three rifle calibers and three pistol. AND I'm fixing to cull 8mm from the roster leaving me only loading two rifle calibers (308 & 223). I love reloading more than I care to admit, but it's so relieving to know whats going on at my bench without pouring over piles of notes. At one time I was loading for over 20 different calibers. Not any more. Nope, if I get one it'll have to be in 308.

The wife and I were talking this evening and she mentioned how she missed the Garand we used to have. It was a fun gun until it self destructed. It's as much my fault as anything. I was shooting steel Barnaul through a Century arms built M1. I was naive and didn't know that Century arms built the most miserable garbage ever assembled. Anyway, back to my point. She mentioned that she missed it and I told her as much as I am fond of the design, I'm not willing to get back into 30/06 just to have one. I just got my inventory consolidated and I don't want another mouth to feed. Especially one as consuming as the ought six. Then it dawned on me. I recall seeing Springfield Armory Garands in 308 at one time. Now I could go for that. I think I would really enjoy owning a quality Garand also. One that wasn't assembled by blind quadriplegic yard apes like Century Arms. So does anyone have one they'd like to tell me about?

Thanks alley, I thought so. I'll try these at .010 since they are loaded and crimped already. THey're almost too purty to shoot!

So I've finished up brass prep this morning. I have quick question. I've never had to deal with overall length exceeding listed max. COL max on a 308 is 2.810 but if I seat these 168g Amax about .010 off the lands, I'm at 2.840. I can't see this being an issue, just thought I'd ask. My first load with this new rifle will be *Hornady match brass *168g Amax *Fed match primer *41g of AA 2520 *2.840 COL Anything better than an inch @ 100 yards is good for me cause I can't shoot no better than that anywho!

I mean not to be dependent on my home as a storage facility for amassed "stuff" I went through a MASSIVE consolidation/liquidation this past year. I sold off about 80% of my collection and reinvested that money into higher quality things. Now, I can grab three gun cases and be gone. I don't keep a lot of ammo in the house. My wife and I have a contingency plan, she can grab the lock box [money and papers], a satchel full of pistols and the cat. I can grab three zippered cases, two un cased guns [yes, I can get all of them on my shoulders] and our baby Chihuahua and be out of the house and into the Toyota in less than 4 minutes. The rest can burn.

What ever happened to the old guys who set up tables COVERED in misc parts???? Half the time they didn't even know what most of it was, and they would price it depending on how interested or excited you got when you picked it up. You can't find ANY parts anymore! Anyone remember the gun shows over near the interstate in Dickson? They were at Flea Port, what is now Mid TN lumber warehouse. THose were some dang good shows.

I've done it with moderate success but my scrap pile would keep the wood stove going all night in North Dakota. The best pair I ever made was for piece of junk Rossi revolver. I fitted two blocks to the frame and went to the belt sander. I didn't care about the gun or if i messed up the finish, so I just held it by the frame and got busy. They turned out beautiful, fit the gun and my hand perfect and I didn't skin the frame once. Had it been one of my Rugers i would have ground the frame in two. For my blackhawk, I have a set of CLC grips. Pricey, but they are works of art.

It'll be here too 'fore long.

That's because the average person is actually convinced that lasers and collapsable AR stocks belong on everything. I wish I had been around here to know about your shows. Hee Haw commandos and ghetto trash are easy to sell to. Put an accessory rail on it and it's tactical. I mean, who else would buy all that crap for a New England single shot 12g?
-
I've been watching Saturday Night Live for years, I don't recall seeing that guy.
-
Yeah, I guess ammo ain't too bad, but ONLY if you shoot the cheap bulk stuff. Any premium ammunition is like everything else, made of gold.
-
I like listening to Gregorian Chant while I reload. It's relaxing and helps you focus. Not to mention it's cool cuz if anyone sees/hears you, they'll think you're mad as a hatter.

Bill Goodman's is nothing but a turkish bazar for Beef jerky, NcStar, Tapco, and all other cheap mall ninja crap. There is ONE guy that I buy from regularly that carries a good selection of Magpul acces. BUT, top shelf kit or deals like the old days are non existent. If, and I mean IF you find anything of quality the price is so inflated that you could buy online or have your local dealer order you one cheaper. I know what you mean, I will continue to go to them, but gunshows suck.

That's pretty good JPS. I was thinking [uh oh] if everyone liked the W.C.D.O.Z.M. what to do. Creeky has graciously volunteered his considerable artistic skills to a concept sketch for a logo. Creeky and I have a mutual friend who is very good at making Tshirts. AND, I was thinking about embroidered patches. If the artwork isn't too complicated, a patch along with another bearing [your name]. I have seen Uniform shirts at the Goodwill many times. Maybe some old second hand redcap shirts and have your name over one breast and the logo over another. Throw in one of those grandpa, gas pumper, trucker hats and it'd be good to go!

Humph! I hate every one of you guitar playing buttheads. I'd gladly trade 10 years of my life for the ability, but I can't even play a radio. I couldn't carry a tune if you loaded it in a wheel barrow. Sad but true, I come from a family of some of the most talented musicians anywhere, and most of them don't even like to play. My father used to play the guitar, banjo, mandolin, fiddle and could make a steel guitar cry. Me, I can play one hell of an air guitar. And for the record, I practiced hard for years. Wasted years I should have made myself into a better shooter. So play on you bunch of heathens! I'll be here lamenting my tone deaf, no rhythm having lack of talent, listening to Joe Satriani make fools out of most everyone who ever picked up a guitar.

I don't think it's happened yet. I think it is supposed to be on April 1st.
