  1. I bet the trigger pull is light as air! Seriously, that looks great. I know you'll do a black and red one, right? I have a pistol that desperately needs a new lease on life, but I want to see an example first.
  2. PUBLIX!!!!! They are the only ones who carry it around these parts. PLUS, it's cheap.
  3. Nope, Never been north of mason dixon line in my life. I just like the stuff. It's the only american made Fire Brewed beer in the country.
  4. We went to the Dollar tree and bought three cases of 75 watt and two cases of 100 watt. We're good for a while.
  5. This is a very hard business to make it in. I don't have any reason to doubt you Gad, so I'll take you at your word and say you're headed right. The biggest problem you face is; Whether anyone wants to admit it, the gun crowd are some grudge holding &*('s I am no exception. A certain unnamed store in middle TN was very rude to my wife who was shopping for a present for me. It hurt her feelings. I called and chewed the manager/owner out something fierce. I was and am ashamed of a few of the things I said. He took every word I had to say. Then apologized, said he absolutely understood how I felt, I had every right to be this upset, and begged me to come back. Offered a 10% discount and everything. I didn't go back for a long time. THat was wrong on my part, as was saying some of the things I said. I tell you that story for a reason. We gun owners get upset some times and tend to NOT act rationally at times. All you can do is what you seem to be doing. Openly admit that mistakes were made and say HEY, what do I need to do to make it right. I'm headed that way in a few days. I'll swing in and check you out.
  6. They used to have buckets lined in radium for drinking water because they thought radioactivity was a miracle cure. Perhaps there is some yet unseen condition caused by magnetic fields that shorten our lifespan.
  7. I watched the preview. That's all I saw.
  8. That's right, pictures or someone might accuse you of buying a Lorcin.
  9. Oh well that's a given. Seal off, drink a cold beer while there's still electricity for the fridge, maybe try to get the misses in the mood, then take a loooong nap.
  10. Yup, then the rest of us would mop up the zombies and then......
  11. CANDY! It's like a taffy kinda thing.
  12. Did no one like "Williamson County Department of Zombie Management"? I thought it was perfect. I know a guy who can make tshirts or one of his contacts can embroider it over the breast pocket of a regular work shirt. It would look all official. Creeky is gonna have a logo for it in a few days. Can't rush creativity;)
  13. I REMEMBER THIS, sitting in front of the TV with nothing better to do with my life than eat airheads, drink cream soda and play Mortal Kombat. Oh jeez:death: {No hard comments from you really old farts. I know my time is coming}
  14. Put your game face on with that Steyr. It stomps pretty hard.
  15. I don't know. A company called Nikken used to peddle them things around here a long time ago. There's a lot of unexplained things in the world. Who's to say. One man's hokey is another man's holy. Me? I'll stick with asprin for pain and circulation.

    Clip or magazine?

Hmmm. Some folks think that using clip in place of magazine is an inferior use of vocabulary, SO if your proposal implies that anything with a single stack clip is inferior to a double stack magazine then then I"M ALL FOR IT!!
  17. Doh! Yes, check out this one. The seller is a purty nice fellar too! Seriously, This would do you right.

    Clip or magazine?

I love the flavor of the smoke, but it was overpowering. I'd like to taste the meat too. It was like eating a chewy block of hickory. The smoke flavor is what your after, but it can't be so dominating that it ruins the meal.
  19. The receiver is either round or has the flats of a hex shape. If all you're doing is shooting and not collecting, there's no difference. Pick the one that calls to you. Round: Hex:
  20. In my experience with them: First, they are tanks. Built like a bunker, will take a severe beating (or dish one out:devil:) and still shoot straight. Second the action is strong but not what I would call smooth, but remember what it is, and it's not a Krag. Third, ammo is still easy to get. Not as cheap as it once was, but nothing is. The cartridge is a darn good one though. It hits hard. It has the capability to hang in there with a 308 all day, ANY day. Only real problem is availability of reloading components. If you're not going to reload for it, don't worry about it. Most mil-surp ammo is going to be corrosive but Wolf imports some very nice stuff from the Balkans somewhere. Serbia or Croatia I can't remember. Wolf Gold. Fourth, accuracy. I've had several and they all shot quite well. The M44's are going to be one of the loudest flame throwers you'll ever shoot. Yep, they're pretty sweet.. The longer barreled models will be where the best accuracy comes from. I've seen some pretty tight grouping from some of them. They can be impressive with the right ammo. My advice get one with a nice clean bore and shoot as is. I don't have any of them anymore, I sold them off when I consolidated calibers a few years ago, but I do remember there's nothing better than the way they are. I'm not a purist who thinks modifying something is blasphemy, I just think 99% of the aftermarket Mosin products are crap. Be sure the bore is clean, no pits and the bolt face is not pitted in a ring around the firing pin. Some coloring around the pin hole is okay, but if there's a lot of scorching or pitting, just pass and look at the next one. They're still plentiful and one of the best bargains out there for a good heavy duty bolt action. Hunt deer, bust rocks or take out Zombies, it'll do it.
  21. Hey! I'm in your area twice a week or better. Nacho's or Cancun's! The new applebees ain't bad either. I'm maybe 15 minutes away.
  22. You can get conversion cylinders for several models. One I find appealing is a Ruger Old Army with a 45 Long Colt conversion cylinder. You do realize though, most conversion cylinders require the removal of the cylinder then unscrewing a cap over the cylinder, in order to reload. For leisure it's no biggy, but it's hardly practical.
  23. I built all mine, but if I were to buy one out of the box, I'd go with a Bravo or Daniel with the M&P a close third. I understand your frustration too. There's entirely too much BS involved and even more when you figure in the AK. I'd rather slam my nose in a car door as keep up with that debate. Since you did ask for recommendations and such, I'll tell you that I was an AK fanatic for a long time. I'll never go back to an AK either. There's so many lies around an AR. They work. Absolutely. Just remember a phrase i see here a lot. Cry now or cry later. Just cough up a few extra bills now and later, you'll never regret it. You a few things to consider too. Barrel twist. This subject is difficult to digest at first. Errrr was for me. If you never plan on reloading, or only plan to reload bulk, stick with a 1/9 that'll let you shoot 55g and 62g very well. Those are the two most common weights. I have a 1/9 that shoots 55g extremely well. If you're like me and want to squeeze a little more out of the platform, you might go 1/7 for heavy bullets. My go to rifle is a 1/7 and it eats 75g HPBT, 75g Amax or 70g Barnes. It's like a wholly different cartridge. The complaints about the 223's effectiveness all but disappear when go this route. The problem is, you gotta pay to play and my wallet gets mighty sore from it. Being a noobie as you say, i'd tell you to keep it simple. Some things to insist on would be chrome bore/chamber and a flat top upper. You can put sights on a flat top easy, but optic options for a fixed carry handle are limited. Have fun and be sure to post pics when you come home with one.
