  1. Capbyrd, I will say that what you have is smart. You'll likely have less issues with a dedicated upper. Looks nice and I agree, the MOE guards will certainly ice the cake. As for me though, I just can't get into the 22 rimfire thing. It's not a macho "gotta have a super gun" kinda crap, I just can't get myself to like them. I don't know. I grw up on 22's like most everyone else, but at 18 I bought my first gun on my own; a 303 british. There was no going back for me. I don't get it, so don't ya'll preach to me. .22s are quiet, super accurate (within their range) and super cheap. What's not to like? So how do you like the magpul stock? I'm a magpul nut.
  2. Exactly Right. I am a staunch supporter of Israel, now and forever. BUT, we need to come home and deal with our own problems. Think of what we could get straightened out in the next 10 years if we told the world to go to ____ , stiffened our perimeter defenses 10 fold, and sent every one of our marines to the southern border to "discuss" this little drug lord problem. Basically just say, "Hey world, we will buy and sell goods with you for as long as it behooves us, but all your other problems are just that. YOUR PROBLEMS!" Why is this so wrong? So difficult? Why can't our charity start here at home?
  3. It'll never work. The sheeple can't deal with simple things that actually make sense.
  4. Oh this is certainly a decision made by idiots. Copper is what around $3 a lb for scrap??? Lead is still cheap. How much will these cost? The military don't care, but the tax payer does. Ammo prices (tax payers bill) will triple or more and the military will still burn, shoot or give away left ammo by the tens of thousands of round cause it's supposedly cheaper than loading it up and bringing back home. Gee, I don't have a clue why the US is broke.
  5. That's true. I had to deprime some live primed cases a while back and I purposefully tried to pop one. Tilted my head back guided the case in and shoved it home pretty good. Nope. It can, could and has happened. But not likely.
  6. It is important not to handle them too much, if any, but it's not a detonator for a photon torpedo, it's just a primer. I used to superglue one to people's dead blow hammer in a machine shop I used to work at. When they'd whack a part to seat it in the vise........ Tweezers is fine, or just wash AND dry your hands really well, and don't rub them around. If I drop one I'll pick it up. No biggie. Good for you though, there's NO SUCH THING as being too safe.
  7. Well sure that's fair. I don't hate cops in general or on principle like some do, but when they're dirty, I'm one of the one's that won't be cutting them any slack. I do wonder if it's me, though. It seems the older I get, the less I seem to have issues with the fuzz. I quit speeding [my car and my mouth] and they quit jerking me around. weird huh?
  8. Why exactly is it taboo to quote "cop bash" on specific instances where they are in the wrong? If anything they SHOULD be bashed harder for the wrongs they do, they SHOULD be held to a higher standard. Ghetto trash peddling crack is no surprise, but when the men and women that are supposedly working to make us safe have a hand in illegal activity ....oh nevermind.
  9. Love my XD's. My oldest is an XD9. Bought it when they first came out, oh several moons ago. I've long lost round count, but I know if I tried to put them all in my Toyota FJ, it would probably damage the suspension. In all the rounds I have fired, I have replaced nothing [sights don't count] and not counting intentional dummies mixed in for stoppage drills, I have had zero failures. Yup, not one single hiccup. AND HEY, I only shoot ammo I cast and load myself and I had a batch of ammo that was leading real bad and i shot it up anyway. Close to 250 rounds of it and after, it looked like a gorilla took a dump in my barrel. No jams. I don't know enough fancy words to praise the XD enough.
  10. You know, if you want the best trigger job money can buy, it's not that big a deal to head east my friend. There is NO FINER PISTOLSMITH on God's green earth than the gentleman residing in Louisville TN. There's some really big dog gunsmiths out there, but if you want the best work (revolvers) on earth, not just TN Head east and and let Hamilton Bowen take care of it. How many people do you know that can make the value of your gun higher, just because they worked on it? http://www.bowenclassicarms.com/index.html

Doesn't stop them from calling though. Ours is on that list and they call here everyday. Automated and human. The no call list is good to threaten legitimate businesses with but the scam calls just laugh about it.

I know what you're saying. Some of the well-to-do gals I went to school with; Today it would take them three wheel barrow loads to haul a22.
  13. My wife has hers surgically grafted to her hand. Never an issue unless she forgets to charge it, but then again she'll just cuddle up with her iPad if that happens. I use my iPod to surf sometimes, it's slow but I'v never had a moments trouble out of it. I don't care what the masses use, Mac is where it's at.

Yeah I signed up a few years ago looking for people I used to know, then I realized, I don't like anyone I used to know or I would still know them.
  15. Yeah, we've seen a real change as of late, that's pretty much how we both are received there now. I'm glad too. Whoa, Sorry OP! Another place to get a good trigger job would be the Lock Stock and Barrel in franklin. I have a one handgun done by Tom Marker and it is very nice. Just don't be in a hurry, because I guarantee he won't. He does good work and is fairly reasonable but likes to take his time.
  16. I've bought a good dozen from them as far back as when they were in the small shop across the parking lot. I guess I look like the type that has no money or the one your momma warned you about because I used to have a heck of a time getting waited on {NOT recently BTW} but the shortest straw was when they wouldn't wait on my wife when she was shopping for a gift for me. She stood there for a 10-15 minutes while they were just talking and laughing. There might have been 4 or 5 people in there. They were just yucking it up not actually doing business. That just didn't sit well.
  17. Is it me, or does it seem that FGS has tried to clean up their act a bit? I know before, you couldn't find a snobbier bunch of _____'s. I've never stopped going, they have the best selection anywhere, so i always go there to see what I want, then go order it elsewhere cheaper, from nicer people. BUT, over the past year or so they really seem to "ACT" like they care whereas before....well they didn't. They're still a touch pricey, but I can deal with that much easier than the attitude. I hope they're trying harder now.

Facebook? I agree with Betty White, "What a waste of time."
  19. I hear the guy @ guns and leather is really good. I've heard enough good things about him that I plan on taking my SP101 to him this fall. Jeff Walle is his name, I've talked to him on the phone. He's a very polite guy.
  20. You know, I've had this iMac for several years now and with the exception of two hardware replacements, I've had zero problems. Not one single software issue. With PC's the wife and I were buying a new one every year. It was just easier to plow a new garden than trying to pull the weeds. For any skeptics, I have opened EVERY email I have ever received. No way would I open ANY email I didn't recognize on a PC. I've been hearing for years about Mac viruses. ANYTHING can be done, but there's nothing to worry about. I grew up on macs. We had dial up internet in '93-94. The kind where you signed on and got to listen to the crazy sounds, went and made a sandwich, checked the oil in you car, pet the dog and then came back to see if it was signed on yet. That's the only reason I graduated high school! I copied all my reports and homework from sources that my teachers didn't have access to. If there's malicious software for Mac, it'll probably never bear fruit. Mac's are just antibacterial by nature.

On that, we agree totally. Shalom to the makers of Lula!
  23. Well, I'm guessing you didn't appreciate that, but I do. Thank you, even though I was yet to be born, I appreciate you doing it along with all the other vets out there.
  24. JohnL, you should know that some things, once seen, cannot be unseen. And the topic of "wink and nod" along with your avatar is probably going to give me nightmares.
