  1. Friggin' stupid.
  2. Certainly weird, I bet they are cooking velocity wise for a 45 auto! Sorry, I can't be of help.
  3. So, you want to explain what a dragon run is or do I google it?
  4. I know it's not feasible for some, but I never come home without filling up my gas tank. I work at home and don't drive much, and my tank is always full, along with an assortment of jerry cans around the homeplace.
  5. If you're into corvettes as your avatar shows, then you can appreciate Hamilton Bowen the same way. You have to pay to play that game.
  6. Well, I'm not insinuating that you would, but there are those who try to push the special hard in a feeble attempt to play catch up to the 44 magnum. What's sad in all this is that they are cheated out of what the 44 special really is and I hope you enjoy what it really is....one of the sweetest shooting pistols you'll ever fire. Let me put it to you this way: One of Hamilton Bowen's specialties is building custom 44 special Rugers. If you don't know Hamilton Bowen, he's arguably the finest pistolsmith to ever walk the earth. His pistols go in the thousands...and thousands. I have a Ruger blackhawk in 45 Long Colt, I would absolutely love to have a Vaquero like yours. I've shot a few, and I have to say, that 44 special is an absolute joy to shoot.
  7. 44 special has a serious cult following. If you don't handload, get into it and DON'T try to make the 44 special into something it's not. It's probably one of the most under appreciated rounds out there. Excellent, Excellent choice, just be careful....they're habit forming.
  8. People are brushing up their skills for the ZombieAlienNatoHippy war.
  9. DUDE! If you're carrying a 442 in your pack, you don't need a gun at all. You're more man than any gun out there.
  10. I'd be a liar if I said I liked a lever action (sorry) BUT, I inherited a Henry lever action .22 and I swear I sold my 10/22 because of it. I have never shot a better 22. Ever. Fun to shoot and very accurate. First time I shot it, I had more fun than when the hogs ate up my twin brother. Now, if I could get my hands on a Savage or three I might be a total convert. Somebody here (cough*greg*cough) has a BEAUTIFUL collection.
  11. Well, Ain't you slick.
  12. Don't buy into that special trailer tire crap either. Use a radial tire. A bias ply tires (most dedicated trailer tires are) are stiff when they are cold and don't give when you take off down the road. Inevitably they get flat spots on them which make them wear faster and ride horrible. The inflation number on the side of the tire is the MAX also. I can't seem to get that into peoples head that you don't run "X" psi just because the tire says so. A good pressure is 35 correct. Just remember, the more air you run, the more you wear the center, the less you run, the more the edges wear and if low enough and you'll wear the sidewalls as well. What size tire are you running? Goodyear's radial ST seems to do fair but I don't like them. BTW, Tires...that's what I do for a living. As far as the lug nuts; The cheap wheels most trailers use [from what I've seen] don't have the chamfer cut deep enough. T typical taper seat lug nut stays tight because of that taper seat. Think of it like a flat head cap screw or a Morse Taper. They crank those trailer wheels out fast as they can. If the taper is shallow, there's not much bearing surface for the lug nut to grab hold on. There's really not much you can do but like was suggested, regularly check your torque, but don't over torque them. On top of stripping or breaking a stud, I have seen people stretch the stud from over torquing which changes the thread pitch of the stud and will make them gall and seize or strip out. Best use a torque wrench if in doubt. Anything over 70-80 lbs is probably too much. I keep the clutch on my impact set at 75 or so.
  13. My wife loved her AR until we bought the CZ 527 in 223. Not much on AR's anymore.
  14. I'm with Dave. I don't understand the collector mentality. If ever I win the powerball, I intend to make a lot of people mad. I'll hit the Barrett Jackson, drop 100K plus on a COPO 427 Camaro and try to hold it between the lines as I torch the rubber off the back of thing on the way out of the parking lot. I mean what's the point in owning a Shelby Cobra with a 427 side oiler and a stick shift if you don't snatch a molar out of the back of your mouth on the 1-2 shift??? I already told the wife, if we hit the Tn Powerball, I'm buying the meanest thing I can find, putting on an adult diaper and strapping into the passenger seat cause I'm paying Ken Block to drive me around till a rod bearing comes loose!
  15. Don't wait till then to be looking for options. Make a friend, rent a storage building close by, Ideally, buy a plot of land somewhere you can get to without using main roads. Don't get caught with your pants down.
  16. I used to love working on cars. Last few I've had was a 63 falcon w/ a 5.0 roller motor from a Mercury Marquis. 66 Beetle w/ a fiberglass roadster body kit, 85 GMC s-15 w/ a 360 small block (350 .060 over) which was a complete waste of time and money. It was just too much to deal with unless I did extensive chassis mods...sold it. There's still a '66 Monanco 383/auto here. Me and the wife get out in it every now and again. I don't know what happened I just got so sick of working on stuff all the time. Especially a couple of the chevy's I had. You just Cannot tear up a 350 rotating assembly, but they are constantly eating starters and water pumps and fuel pumps. I don't even even want to get started ranting about that VW. If Ferdinand Porche was still alive I'd like to beat his head in for coming up with that vertical seamed magnesium cased turd of a motor the VW's use. Garbage. There's a reason I bought a Toyota. Although, when the Toyota is paid for next year me and the wife are most likely going to shop around and buy a classic. One in particular. A '67 4 door Impala, black, 12 hole chrome wheels, 327/4 barrel Automatic, and I already have a pair of spotlights to put on it. I think this time, we'll just put out the $$$ and get one that needs NOTHING done to it. The 67 impala is a real car, one me and the wife could take long trips across country in......hope we don't run into any spooks.

    heritage .22

It won't go off half the time. It's a weak hammer spring I'm sure. You can hold the trigger operate the hammer like the action shooters do, and it's a bit more reliable. Most of the time a second strike will do it. Don't know and not to sound rude or disrespectful, but I really don't care. It's a turd. It's not snobbery on my part, it's just no good. Point of aim is a good six inches to the left at 25 yards. Groups with CCI maximags average palm sized. I chunked it in the drawer, and tried to forget about it.
  18. Is that 3 YEARS and 6 months? Because if you got two kids; one three months old and one six months old you've been up to no good!

    heritage .22

I have a Heritage in .22 magnum. It's a piece of ____. If it hadn't been a gift from my FIL I would have traded it for a handful of magic beans.
  20. For the money, the accuracy, and the performance; Hornady's .30cal 168g Amax is my MC Hammer bullet......hoooh, can't touch this!
  21. It's working a lot better this morning....for me anyway.
  22. America doesn't want freedom anymore. America wants entitlements. America has been more than happy to trade liberty for hand outs. Disagree? Well the voter polls says I'm right. You don't have to like it for it to be the truth.
  23. THis^ Carrying my weapon means to me: Consciously seeking out threats and actively making adjustments to avoid them. Cross the street and walk on the other side instead of walking through a mob of drinkers when you're downtown. Get in the vehicle as quickly as one reasonably [without acting stupid] can and immediately lock your doors. ....on and on. It's not cowardice and it's not paranoia, heck it's just good sense.
  24. I cast a 525g sabot type slug for my 12g from a lyman mold. It looks like a SUPER sized pellet. When you get the mold you're wanting, we should trade out a handful between us. I shoot mine in a wad out of a smoothbore. Accuracy is better than you'd expect. About 4 inches at 50 yards. Plenty enough for deer or zombies. The flat face cuts a perfect circle like a wad cutter. Please do share some pics some day!!!
