Well that looks a lot better than a paper sack:p Thanks Greenego

Won't be if I build one. Operating around 40K PSI....I like locking lugs myself;)
-
I'm going to have to take a look but I think it's entirely possible to open up a .223 bolt to .424. That would only be about .024-.025 per side[48-50 thousandths total] then gas operation would be a sure thing. SAY, anyone got a totally screwed .223 bolt that I could practice on? Burnt, cratered, blown, worn slap out. It would be nice to have a junker to set up on and make a practice run.

A bear's nose is what? A zillion times more sensitive than a human?? Fill it with concentrated capsicum and chances are, it'll buy you time to make an exit.
-
Bear mace anyone? Seriously though, not to make fun at the attack, but why do people venture into bear territory and then make a fuss when a bear taps them on the shoulder and says "This is my house, get out." I wouldn't expect to go into any TGO members house uninvited and come out alive, you can't fault the bear for the same reasoning. I like the fact that they won't hunt down the bear responsible like they would years back. Don't poke the snake with a stick, don't pee in the wind and don't play in a stream full of salmon without a very large revolver on your hip. *Sigh* common sense is lost on the modern man. If you're in the city you watch for ghetto trash and other possible threats, why do folks not carry on the same when in the wilderness?

That was my thinking too, but I'm wrong so often, I quit assuming anything.

That do make it sound even better. Heavier buffer, maybe a hydraulic buffer and an M16 bolt? One thing and this is a really dumb Q, but I have ZERO experience with a pistol caliber AR. Are they gas operated? Olympic Arms website shows a pic of their bolt and it don't look the same, I don't see any kind of locking lugs. Personally, if it doesn't lock up, I'm not playing. I'm just not interested in any straight blowback action.

Well, what you say is absolute truth. I'm only exploring the option because I know a prominent group of people in my area that use the .357 Sig and I may be able have a brass source. As much as I would love to Run for the hills as Bruce Dickinson would say, I know I forever tethered to this area, despite the damnable misery of that, why not make use of ALL of it's resources?
-
Think it would be worth it? I mean it shouldn't be too difficult. I have a lead on .357 Sig once fired brass by the five gallon bucket for cheap. I'm not interested really in getting into shooting the cartridge in a handgun, but in a carbine, the Sig ought to be pretty stout. 9mm barrel, .40S&W bolt and Lone Wolf even makes a Glock magazine dedicated lower. Any thoughts?

I'll second the "Thank You". Thank You David.

Roger that. It's not that I don't know how wrong my apathy is; It's just....I don't care. This crap goes on everyday. The sick animals of this country feed on this and the media cooks it up by the wagon train load. I'd rather have a greasy sonic burger myself. Like monkeyhumper points out: What about the other quarter million kids that died in the last few weeks?

There's actually a LOT of extra paper work. A lot of green federal reserve paper work....

I have that same TruGlo on my Winchester 1400 12g. I use it for slugs and it works just fine.

Okay, so what's the best money can buy for an SP101???
-
I thought ya'll done that anyway?????
-
MacGuyver...Close isn't always best for me, I carry half concealed at work, I could care less if anyone knows, but I pull my shirt over it anyway. BUT, I sweat like a whore in church. Hence the stainless and rubber SP101. I'll look into the Kydex too thanks Mike.

Is it true that some training facilities will not allow the SERPA on the range? Seems like I read that a couple years ago. -
All the yap over the SERPA holster got me thinking. I keep a regular check on my stuff. At least every other day I look over my holster and belt. I carry a SP101 daily and right now it rides in a Galco. Never really had a problem with Galco leather but never really been pleased either. I got it for like 25% off when I bought my gun so I went with it. I sweat so much though it is beginning to turn black and I will trash it not long from now....long before it can fail. I see Fobus makes an all plastic holster for the SP101. Any takes on it? Are there any other all plastic holsters I should check out? I prefer some form of retention, but if it's tight, I can manage.

Seriously though, unless you're crawling through some third world crap hole like Afghanistan or Detroit, how does the mud, crud and debris get in there? Kinda like the AR fouling argument. If you're too lazy to clean and maintain your stuff then you deserve to have a failure. I dunno, maybe I should toss mine in the trash and buy what everyone else is using. -

How could this apply to anyone other than military and LEO? Seems lazy to not inspect and clean your things regularly. -

I'm trying to understand that. I suppose never having been in a high stress situation where I have a gun I'm not capable of understanding. I don't understand how a person could have such limited control over their digits. I read about the woes of the SERPA not long after getting mine. I have put transfer fluid (prussian blue) on my trigger and drawn and holstered my XD until my shoulder got tired, and not once did I have a spot of dye on my index finger, nor was the dye disturbed on the trigger. Draw, present and return over and over and I guess I'm a retard cause I don't get how someone could screw up so bad, but then I am reminded that the world's full of different types of people. Not to be a nerd but there's a few pieces of wisdom I remember that REALLY apply here. First, "Never his mind on where he was..hmm, What he was doing...hmmm" and then "Your focus determines your reality" & "Don't center on anxieties, keep your mind on the here and now where it belongs." Even trained people don't always pay enough attention. NO amount of skill or talent can EVER replace muzzle discipline and muzzle discipline can NEVER be over emphasized. I don't care if the gun in your hand has been cut in half with a torch, DO NOT cross a muzzle to flesh. It's un-excusable in any way shape form or fashion. And to beat it all...It's not a hard practice to keep! Write me off as a dummy cuz I just don't get why this should ever happen. Why is it so hard to remember what a gun is and to handle them accordingly? I am probably the worst marksman on TGO. My father in law makes jokes that I couldn't hit a bull in the a22 with a bass fiddle. Maybe. But safety consciousness means more than a one hole group. -

If the SERPA is not a "good" holster than what is? Of that design, that is. I certainly wouldn't want the thumb release model he talked about. I always thought highly of the button release. I did, however, cut a small piece of grip tape in the shape of and install it on the button. It helps with locating and when you mash the button and draw the grip tape clings to your finger reminding you to extend instead of curl. At least it does for me. -

Pppfffttt! Been using that holster for years, If you discharge your gun when using it and think it's holsters fault then you shouldn't be allowed to even own a gun. There's no such thing as an accident, everything happens because someone screwed up. The word accident is a feel good word made up by some hippy scum who didn't want to take responsibility for his actions. Every time a gun has went off with one of these holsters, it was because some dummy stuck his finger on the trigger before the weapon was pointing down range. People should suffer if they don't have anymore sense than that. ***After watching the video again, I say he's a lucky sonofagun to have not hit a femoral artery. There would have been no video had he done that, just a death notice in the paper. Someone upstairs was watching over the guy for sure.*** -
Sort of depressing being so close to the 4th.

Dumb broads like that will be first in line to receive their mark, and they'll deserve the reward to boot.
