  1. No arguments there. Never fired the round, but I can tell from reading and simple looking at the thing....it ought to work!
  2. I know, I thought the socom bug had bitten me too, but capacity is diminished as well as range. I guess I'll never live to see a DC-15 modular platform like Republic Commando's carry. Mission adaptable from PDR to Assault to Sniper with simple snap in place enhancement attachments. Range from point blank to a couple thousand yards. All jokes aside, we really do try to ask entirely too much from one mechanical device, you know?
  3. Yeah, it's a shame we need the wool or we could just rid ourselves of them and actually be happy.........wait:doh:...I gotta quit typing that stuff out loud!
  4. That's nice. It'll be cool in a shadow box. You should find some old cartridges to go with it. I used to have a handful of 38's that had U.S. stamped on the PRIMER. It was old stuff. I'll have to look and see if I kept them. If I did you could have 'em. I wouldn't shoot them anyway...I wouldn't be afraid to, but with a pistol like yours do they belong.
  5. Yup, someone posted that while ago. Great video. Interesting thing you bring up though. I wish to GOD someone would actually win this "Caliber War" ! There's SOOO many good calibers out there but no one can dislodge the old timers. I'm afraid if I choose one I will choose one that will in just a few short years drift away into obscurity. .223/5,56 & .308 dominate the field right now. Now, the .308? Rightfully so. It's a bad boy and can get the job done right. I've heard from more than one veteran that a hostile hit with a 7,62x51 tend to stay down a lot more often. The .223/5,56 on the other hand? Look at the plethora of improved choices. 6,5 Grendel, 6,8 SPC, .30 Remington AR, 6x45, .300 whisper & blackout. What to choose? Me, I've tried to play it safe and stuck with the 5,56 so far. Using a 75 or a 77g HPBT in a 1/7 twist steps up the cartridges ability a good bit, but it's a patch fix because now I can't shoot the lighter bullets very well. I have a large pile of 50g soft points I loaded for a 1/10 I used to have and they just turn to dust. GGGGrrrrrr! I wish someone would settle the deal so I can invest confidently. I'm thinking the 6,8 will likely be the victor.
  6. Hooray! Me and the wife ain't alone! Hey, long peaceful life to you and your soon to be MRS.
  7. Well....I know this might sound crazy [because it makes sooooo much sense and all] but GO THROUGH THE DRIVE THROUGH!!!! Why would anyone actually go IN a Taco Bell unless it was a restroom emergency. Eat in the car or go to the park or as me and the wife do, go to the largest parking lot and park on the empty end. Like the Taco Bell in Franklin for instance, just drive across the road to the Kmart and park on the far end. You can see people coming several yards away. No one is immune to being robbed. I myself have looked down the barrel of a 12g as a kid, I know what it feels like. BUT! ANY intelligent person can reason out ways to avoid 95% of all potential threats by just using a little common sense.
  8. Interesting. I saw a semiauto Remington 30/06 do this once. It was excessive headspace. Strange thing is, it cycled perfectly and was pretty accurate. Go figure. Wouldn't hurt to throw a gauge in there.
  9. Ummm. No. Actually......run the opposite direction.
  10. ^^^+1 I could care less about the pursuit of the clover leaf or one holer. Dead is dead, and "Minute of beating heart" accuracy is sufficient for anything be it hunting or personal defense. 2 inches under stress....I'll probably never make it, but 4 inches is exactly what i go for. Hitting a 4 inch circle from 7-250 yards is all I care about. (I can't find a place to shoot further)
  11. Yet another reason the day Texas ever decides to secede, Caster is leaving. Keep up the good work down there.
  12. HA! See second signature.
  13. ^ My current portfolio consists almost completely of this ^
  14. Absolutely Right! Why do you think truly rich people invest halfway around the globe in other markets? But you can't MAKE money on gold. You can only put the money you have in suspended animation. I tried to explain this to a friend once and the best I could come up with was: Gold value doesn't change...ever. 2000 years ago a chunk of pure gold the size of your fist would buy you a really nice home and a little land. IT STILL WILL. Gold is going for $1,526 an ounce this morning. That's a lot more than it ever has been through US history, but that's not a good thing. It's not worth more, the dollar is worth less. The gold investors are just freezing their assets at current market value so they won't be worth less, but they'll never turn a profit on it. That's good or bad depending on how you look at it.
  15. RIGHT!!! This country cries for a solution and EVERYONE wants things fixed so long as THEY aren't the one's that will have to make a sacrifice. Selfish, pathetic peons.
  16. ...some things ain't worth savin'. :stare:Did I just type that out loud?
  17. Well, if you go batty, give me a call. I may or may not join in the festivities, but I might donate to the cause. Seriously though, the USA gone? You're dang right, we're on our way out and it ain't gonna be long.
  18. Mike, at 53 you stand a good chance of seeing some of it. Not for sure thing, but your chances are better than mine. I hope you get it bud, take what you can get as fast as you can;)
  19. Honestly, I know I'll never see a dime of it anyway. SO....Yeah, I would. "All that FICA I've paid in" is what's keeping lazy ghetto trash in crack and diapers...and old people who've drawn out more in the first few years then they ever paid in. It's NOT been invested wisely to make a profit and a return on our investment, it's funding for entitlements and I for one know the system WILL crash and burn....sooner rather than later for all I care. ...oops, you didn't ask for all that crap. Sorry.
  20. Cut them both along with SS and pay some the country's bill's? Doh! No that makes sense, can't do that.
  21. So, was we wrong about the 44 special? Pretty sweet huh? I usually take a hundred per gun minimum.
  22. Man! Don't tell me stuff like that! I have enough irons in the financial fire as it is.
  23. I like the comptac best. In light of being fed a slice of humble SERPA pie, I may order one for my SP and my XD. Thanks David. I'm actually wearing my Galco leather holster opposite: Belt going OVER the holster instead of behind it, just so it will sit up and behave. It's VERY sturdy that way, but far from comfortable. The day of judgment for the Galco (trashcan or pay it forward) draweth nigh.
  24. I was just thinking when I read the first post how this should wait till you finish the "larger" project......but it is a good idea.
  25. Name a better platform for the SP101 [OWB] and I will look into it. Much like the SERPA thing, I ain't opposed to changing my mind. Fact, I'm all for it if shown a better way. I will have to agree 110% on Uncle Mikes too, they aren't fit to carry a paper cap pistol in.
