  1. Forgive my ignorance, but armories don't sound much like an armory. Sounds more like a storage building with electricity. Why in the world would ANY military installation NOT have ammunition? Maybe I'm too simple minded, but it sounds backwards to me. Then again, so I understand, troops are not issued ammunition until right before it's (in the high brass's opinion) needed. It's pitiful and a sign of how pathetic our country has become when you can't trust a soldier with ammo for his gun.
  2. uhh Semi wad cutters?
  3. I would say the "chances r" good.
  4. This guy has a potty mouth, but I almost fell out of my chair laughing so hard. Yes I realize it's unrelated to a humvee, but hey, who don't need a laugh today? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hn73SyKBMio&feature=related
  5. Haven't we all? For all the wonders of modern technology, a simpler life has more appeal.
  6. If ever you decide to do just this and start a "TGO Village" I'd like to fill out an application. I hear the Iron Mountain range here in TN is both beautiful and sparsely populated.
  7. oh you just love rubbing it in that I'm here suffering the heat and you're not. J/K Glad you're having fun.
  8. I don't think that's been bubba'd, that's how they came. eeerr, it looks like all the other SKS M's I've ever seen. Cool rifle.
  9. Ohh yeah. The only fire brewed beer left. Everything else is cold brewed AFAIK. You can get it at Publix. I used to make special trips to town just for it....now we got a Publix right here, about 2 miles from the house. Woot!
  10. Well, you're kinda right, but try buying match grade ammo in heavy weight bullets and that price goes up exponentially. The $5 per box stuff? You may as well be blastin with an AK because the quality is about the same.
  11. Fishnet stockings work great too.
  12. Caster

    .300 BLK?

Well, between my back and now I have a bad tooth to deal with, this is having to simmer for a bit while my wallet heals.
  13. I'm printing this prescription out now in case of any spousal complications. No sense in waiting, may as well start inebria-therapy now.
  14. ...well, mine's in my prime rib, and it's killing me.
  15. mmmmhmmm, I bet it is. Poor thing, I feel for you. Seriously, what water is that?
  16. I'm acclimating quite well, this bulging disk has me thinking like I never thought I would. ...but thanks for the encouraging words:) I figure I have already lived OVER half of my useful life.
  17. HA!, David hits another triple. How about a trout farm? Are there any of those anymore? I remember going to one in Bucksnort as a kid. You can catch a fish on a bare hook, just use a gold colored Eagle brand. I think we fished with niblets of corn if I remember right. It's about as fast as cast and reel in.
  18. Doesn't this all fall under yet another aspect of Keep your eyes open, your mouth shut and don't volunteer for anything?
  19. I don't like that idea one bit. Old hurts.
  20. Hardy har har, rub it in why don'tcha?
  21. Actually, with all due respect nysos, you'd be a fool to even consider it. Please don't. Survivors may or may not be cut throats like a pirate, but I'll bet you a days worth of grain that they'll be the hardest folk out there. Cold on the surface if not to the core. Kindness will not quality that will get you far during the turmoil. Even good men; When a man sees his wife and child are hungry, sick or on the edge of being so, that man becomes INFINITELY more dangerous than anything most of us can fathom (given the man loves his family like a real man should) It's a heartbreaking truth that a good man can and does have the propensity to commit the most heinous of acts to save his family. It's scary to know a man that really loves his family would sacrifice his very soul to see them taken care of. To add prospective to this, I ask every one of you a question, and I ask that you don't answer it aloud, just be honest with yourself. What would you be capable of? You can see the ribs poking out of your 5 yr old sons sides because he hasn't had a REAL meal in months. Your wife has ________(insert pandemic affliction) and across the way a man has food and medicine. Despite your pleading begging and offering him your life, he will not help you. You rifle is loaded, and then....your son starts to cry. These are the days foretold when men will beg for death and it will come not. I'm certain no one really appreciates me bringing this kind of thing up, but think on it. GOD help us. Ya'll be safe and pay attention.
  22. Hey, I'm a sloppy dresser. I don't care what people think, but at the same time, I understand when the "older guys" at gunshops/shows don't want to treat me the same as the other "good ole boys". How you are treated depends heavily on how you present yourself. That's not racist or profiling, that's just fact.
  23. *Crimp with a Lee factory crimp die. I load SHTF ammo, not super duper match ammo, so I crimp everything. *OAL max depends on the bullet design, I like an SS109 and 2.250 works perfect for me. *It's hard to beat the 62g ss109 though they may penetrate too much depending on application. The bullet you use also depends on the twist of your barrel. I like 1/7 barrels and I use not only the 62g but a 75g HPBT. Both are pretty awesome in the performance and accuracy department. A vast improvement over the 55g FMJ. *I used to play with sealing but honestly....nah. I mean if you really think it may come to crawling through trenches for you, sure go for it, but I think it's just not necessary. The current load I have been cranking out is the 62g ss109 over 24g of either AA 2520 or surplus WC846. I'm EXTREMELY happy with 24g of 846.
  24. Ummm, this talk of legalities...If the gun was unloaded, what laws did they break? It's perfectly legal to take a pistol to a gunshop as long as the owner is OK with it. If it was loaded, then it's carrying, but if it was unloaded it was just transporting. People take guns to gunshows all the time so they can "Try On" different things. As to what you should have done...if you were truly uncomfortable, leave. Otherwise, nothing.
