  1. Why would you need silicone spray? Once cooled, just drop the tin, upside down, maybe 2 or 3 ft off the ground. They fall right out. You're gonna get some nasty fumes dumping molten lead on silicone spray. Ventilation...Get a good (that means something other than a Lasko) box fan and draw air away from you. I have a respirator I wear when smelting. Also, get a lid of some sort for your smelting pot. it will melt faster if you keep the heat in. I guess the turkey fryer would work great, but it doesn't seem very cost effective. Then again, most people don't have the surplus time that I have. I use a hot plate. Smelt the rough stuff and pour into large ingots that I then (after all smelting is done) remelt and flux heavily. Yard sale candles are great for this. I like stick candles, just shove it in and swirl it around about a second and a half and pull it out just in time to get that *POOF* as the paraffin ignites. I find melting twice before putting away really gets the crud out and keeps my casting pot nice and clean. What are you going to be casting for? Do you separate stick-on wheel weights? They are MUCH softer than clip ons mind you. I usually cast stick ons into ingots and save it for casting buckshot. It's a touch harder than pure lead, buy not my much. I've said this many times: Do you realize how deep this rabbit hole goes? You can go so deep with casting, you won't be able to see the light of day. It's great really! If you like to experiment and tinker...this is the only game in town. I'm going to be trying out a hollow point I've come up with soon. I take a 310g gas check 45 and using a 7 degree tapered carbide endmill, I open up the end until it runs about 260g. It's a DEEEEEEP hollow point too. I figure about 1450 fps out of my blackhawk ought knock something down;) Good luck brother! This casting thing....it's a sickness. They say lead poisoning is a painful death....I'm not so sure!
  2. Everything looks good....but 'er face?
  3. HA! I bet he's a big o baby too! I just wanna give him a hug.
  4. Okay folks, we need a volunteer to spearhead a "Kick 'em while their down" campaign.
  5. Get a dose of dead man's blood in a bloodsucker and he's a vegetable until he can metabolize it. Depending on the dose, that could be a while.
  6. Volumetric metering is only acceptable for black powder. Smokeless powder MUST be verified by weight (Scale) When you start running upper level loads in cartridges that are inherently high pressure, just a few tenths of a grain can cause pressure changes. I churn out loads by the bucket load and only verify every few hundred rounds. They are all bottom end loads. Most all my pistol loads are starting charge or very close, so I have room for error. On the other hand, loads for my 45LC and .308 are hand weighed....each and every one of them.
  7. Dude, you seriously need to get a copy of Red Dawn for these occasions.
  8. Al-Qaeda's check cleared the swiss bank. This country's goin down. Give daddy a little Jihad knuckle love baby.
  9. "..just finished a new commercial appearance for the Disney channel. Can you believe those kids think I care if they live or die? At least I got to stuff my purse full of peanuts from the attendant's cart when she wasn't looking. MAN! Me and the hubby are lootin' this joint six ways from sunday! Jihad!"
  10. Field dress, check in, carry it home and string it up, skin it, cut out the ribeye & tenderloin, break out the grinder.......CLEAN THE GRINDER!!! The wife likes to cut up the ribs and other crap meat and put it in the crock pot for the dog, waste not want not. Wrap it/Ziplock it, rearrange the dang freezer....again. If it didn't taste so good..............
  11. Carter. Isn't that Latin for dirty tree hugging hippy.
  12. This is why we need the "restoration/rescue sticky" like we were talking about in DMark's thread about his restored 03-A3!!! Being as this poor soul has already been boo-foo'ed, it is a good candidate for a restoration. Well worth the price of a re-blue. The grips look in good shape. IMHO, it would be well worth the price of a re-blue and maybe some replacement springs if/where needed.

Why do I have to carry this umbrella. It wasn't me that started this storm.
  14. Desire I want to, but then I remember how labor intensive it is.
  15. That's still great news...even if you do have to go buy new mags.
  16. Ohh you people and your corrosive phobias You own an M1 carbine? Shoot them suckers! OR, sell them to someone who will.
  17. This kid NEVER ceases to amaze me:
  18. .......and as a B/day gift, the current governing body will now wipe their collective asses on it.......AGAIN.
  19. Another thing to think about. What "device" company comes close to the the "iPad, iPhone, iPod"? Oh they try...... The only thing they can do is create a reasonable facsimile....a copy at best. Personally, I think Mac has alien (true ET) technology. Funny how they innovate the craziest stuff first....but that's just a wild conspiracy theory.
  20. Absolutely worth every penny. Junk trash HP, Sonys, and other silicone valley excrement were crashing on me yearly. Give a grand for a computer, use it for a year, trash it. What a system. The ONLY reason the PC thrives is the marketing power of the Microsoft juggernaut. I bought this iMac 4 or 5 years ago. I had a friend replace the hard drive once. Other than that.....I open any email I want, I go to any site I want, I click on any thing I want. They're not invincible but they wear LVL IV kevlar with trauma plates and 99% of the hackers are firing .22's. I was a mac boy way back when. My father had to have them for work. We had first internet in the house around '93. I remember the first powerhouse Mac we had. A Quadra 950. It was a beast and no IBM compatible could touch it. My wife was a PC person. Took me years to convert her. Now, she wouldn't wipe her hind end on a PC. A PC can be made to run STRONG, but I'm a simple person. I don't want to update software all the time, I don't want to run spyware, adware & women's underwear & the other crap ya'll use. Yes, powerful in the ways of the apple, He is.
  21. I've been seriously considering it. I have worked up a handload using a 70g Barnes TSX in my CZ527 that it VERY accurate. I think the Barnes will do just fine.
