Meh, I'd rather have a Varon T disruptor.

Real barbers are a dying breed. No one is taking up the art anymore. I've been to a couple. Got brave and asked for a straight shave once. Now, this old guy knew his stuff. I think he loans his razor to Jewish ants for circumcision. Yikes that thing was sharper than anything I ever seen. If you've never had a straight shave, I don't know how to describe it. I'm not convinced, we as men, were ever meant to be shaved THAT close. Whew! I didn't even have stubble for a few days, I think it was terrified to come out.

What do YOU use to clean and oil your gun?
Caster replied to pattywak's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Montana Extreme solvent (Hold your breath!!!) Mobil 1 5w20 synthetic for moving parts Either Lucas red or Texaco Starfak grease on rails and axis pins. Remoil - for spraying down exterior surfaces For those that don't use synthetic motor oil, do you realize the best quart of oil money can buy will run you $10 maybe and that quart of oil will last a LOOOOOOONG time. All them fancy snake oils cost ten times that and work no better...if they even work as good. If it will handle 6,000+ horsepower from a top fuel funny car....it'll handle my little AR-15 just fine. -
Too right, Bloodbath in Paradise. I might not survive, but I guarantee you several of them would be going with me.

Or so you've been led to believe.

Back on casting for 9mm. Any of you cast for 9mm? I guess no one is working while the weather is nice....or ya'll just too paranoid to tell?? I have a roll of reynolds wrap you can make a hat out of, if it'll spark a decent conversation:tinfoil: -
That's true if you're buying it. Loading it by hand???? The 7,92x57 wins hands down. That ole Mauser cartridge is under rated, under appreciated, and underestimated.

Dear Lord, We thank you for gift of natural selection. We ask that continue to bless the system of natural selection that you have set in place. ...and Lord, I ask you ask to favor natural selection and increase the severity for infractions, if it is right that you should do so. Makes me think back to an episode of John Boy & Billy several years ago. They had a PETA official on the show, and to welcome them, they put a whole pig on the spit outside the studio, the night before. Too funny. Gotta love John Boy's argument: If God didn't want us to eat animals, why did he make them out of meat?

They also made a .22 version, which BTW, there is rumor they will re-introduce soon. I've been hesitant to get an Sp101 in 9x19. I have a .357 SP I carry everyday. I want one in 9mm really bad, but knowing, loving, and owning/reloading for a few Ruger Handguns, I know what it will mean. Crazy experiments in reloading. Now, I would NEVER condone unsafe reloading practices, but I think it's safe to say the SP101 (being built like a tank) could probably handle more than the 9mm brass. *Think +p+++*

Sometimes it's really amazing: Simple Physics. This is very good and should be added to everyone's SHTF journal.

Ohh, wow, I don't know really. I use the same powder for my 12g shells that I used to use for 45 back when I used to shoot it,so I still have quite a bit of it. Primers are roughly the same if I remember right. As far as payload, I don't have a clue. I only load slugs and a 9 pellet buck load, both of which I cast myself. -
So what have you accomplished lately to repel the incoming hoard of undead? I like to get SOMETHING done everyday, no matter how small. It adds up with a quickness. Today, I cast a little over 500 pure lead, 525g 12g slugs. They are guaranteed to mush a zombies melon. I do all my reloading in the early hours of the morning before work. Two hours of tinkering every morning will really get things done. I finished loading 1700 rounds of 9x19 last week. All loaded with 130g truncated cone boolits I cast meself. SO? What have you done....or what's your excuse?

Why are you carrying a pistol? Are you expecting trouble? No, if I was expecting trouble, I'd have brought my rifle.

Gonna have o go with this one. Sounds like something you should check for sure. Try pulling off the bases and see how it does then. If this IS what it is, it's an easy fix at least.

I used to be an ATF hater. I'm still not their biggest fan, but there are good people working for them. I know a few ATF agents and they are dang fine fellas. They'll be the first to admit too, there are some low life scum bags working for the ATF. BUT, like Dolomite says...play by the rules. They'll give you pretty much anything you want (ie can afford) just fill out the paperwork. I despise paperwork. I loathe all forms that take my anonymity from me. BUT it's what we have, and breaking the rules doesn't solve or prove anything other than one's own stupidity. Let me say this, though I probably shouldn't. I have heard it from an ATF agent's own mouth: When the door to door confiscations start, he'll wipe his hind end on his badge and stand against them. I'll bet he ain't the only one. I treat the ATF like the church says to treat sin. Hate the sin, not the sinner.

To all the "There's no such thing as Zombies" crowd: Just because you're not paranoid, don't mean they won't come after you.

Yes, you [carefully duh:p] add it to the molten lead. Stir it gently being sure to scrap the bottom and sides. All the will then float to the top. Skim it off with a spoon and you're good to go.

The days of abundant wheel weights for cheap are all but gone, but don't hesitate to hit up every tire store in your area. I'm always more than happy to share what little I know, but be mindful of this: Asking a bullet caster where to get lead cheap is like asking a fisherman where his best hole is. Just ask your local tire shop if they'd be willing to sell you a bucket of scrap weights. Worst they can do is say no. I cast with wax. Regular old paraffin. Some people use borax, some even use saw dust. Candles are cheap and don't stink as bad.

Go to rutherford county, buy the sheriff lunch at a decent steakhouse.

It's not going to be a safety issue. I've shot rifles with bores so bad, you could not make out rifling. Accuracy will likely suck, but you'll never know till you try. If the gun is solid, locks up tight and doesn't have any timing issues, you'll be fine. Now, if using a cast bullet, you may see some pretty bad leading, but I don't think you're really going to have any safety issues.

YES! ^ THIS! Got an old warhorse surplus rifle that doesn't shoot so well. Well, I bet you a dollar and a quarter it CAN shoot very well. Use a tight cleaning patch and a mark on a cleaning rod to determine twist rate. Slug the bore for diameter. Select appropriate weight boolit and sizing die. Then develop a powder charge. The last Mauser rifle I had could shoot about 2 inches @ 100 yards using a 215g Karabiner boolit over AA 5744.

Well, I shoulda been more clear. They'll stick when they're really hot. As they cool, they'll contract and let go. Give'em a tap, they'll let go either way. They're not a baked good, they won't tear:) A decent quality face mask with replaceable filters can be had cheap, and it's worth every penny. One lung full of the demon smog that comes off of melting wheel weights and you'll agree......trust me! Melt twice...yes. I melt the wheel weights in one pot, with another pot standing by. Once melted, I scoop off as much debris as possible, getting all the steel clips and gooey funk out as you can. Then, I pour it into the waiting pot. When that pot is full, I melt it down, flux heavy, scoop, scrape, and stir like a witch over a cauldron. THEN, I pour into ingots for storage/later use. When I melt those ingots for actual cast, I lightly flux again for good measure. Sound like a lot of effort? Well, it is. Maybe it isn't worth it. I don't care. That's what it takes to make me happy. For the record, my boolits come out VERY consistent. Less that half a grain once I get up to temp.
