Anybody here have or have ever built a smokehouse?
Caster replied to gregintenn's topic in Survival and Preparedness
I set an old wooden shed on fire when I was a kid. Does that count? -
Yep watching this too. UNDERSTAND what I'm saying here. This will turn out to have muslim ties. The people that have been killed/injured did NOT deserve this in any way. BUT, France as a whole deserve every bit of this. They let the bastards in by the train load. It will happen here and my heart breaks for the victims but as a WHOLE country, we will deserve it too. We used to believe that Nazi germany was the worst enemy of the last few centuries. I believe it is the filth of islam. We are finding out the true evil that is Islam.

Raoul, yes, they came around back then BUT they are STILL producing albums and playing in arenas of tens of thousands. Get over in Europe and South America and they may play before 100 thousand. Bruce Springsteen still does as well. Incedentally I've seen both Bruce's btw. Springsteen and the E Street band and Dickenson of Iron Maiden and I can tell you in no uncertain terms the old guys will embarrass 99% of the new guys. They KNOW how to sing and play. Many if not most of the new bands on the scene today, suck donkey live. Night runner, I get not being a fan, but you've heard that name before. If you're a gospel listener than chances are you heard that name for the first time just like I did, from some bible thumper at my church who says I'm going to hell if I listen to it. Lol!!! Which only made me curious and my allowance money soon went to a cassette tape of Killers, their 1981 album. I'm the polar opposite of a 'Country music fan' but you say Merle Haggard or Hank Williams, I HAVE heard those names and knew they produced music.

Yep, I'm an old bastage and kids are stupid. Young fella came in the shop today, probably 18-19 yrs old. I was working on my expedition trailer and had some tunes going. Kid says: "Who you listening to? Never heard anything like it, that's cool!" I say, "Umm, Iron Maiden." "That's a band!!??? I thought it was just some cool T-shirts." Nursing a hole in my tongue where I just bit through it, I politely told him to hit Amazon Prime music or iTunes and try listening to any one of their 16 albums. Not a fan? Sure, I get that. To not even know they're a band but know they make cool t-shirts? Wow.

Grey wolves/Timber wolves of the Mackenzie Valley regularly turn up monster sized animals. One as big as the picture is not so far fetched as it seems. North western Canada has some huge wolf packs and they are not joke. My biggest fear is that we are starting to see them east of the Mississippi. Never before in history because of the natural barrier the river provided but now they are migrating east. If ever they get established, we are in for trouble. With the feral hog problem of the eastern side of the states, they would have a HUGE food supply. On the surface it seems one would take care of the other but I'd rather have hogs than wolves. We only really know coyotes and wild dog packs in TN. For the most part their fear of humans make deadly run ins all but unheard of. Wolves? Well, they ain't afraid of :poop:

That's the other option. And a good one at that.

I could be wrong, for once it'd be nice if I was.

The slide isn't a firearm. It's gotta be the reciever. ...but yeah, that's about right except for that red dot. We don't do red dots. I'm color blind and we don't get along.

Being polymer, engraving isn't difficult, a wood burner with interchangeable tips will work fine. I used just that to stipple my G19. Quite easy. I just wonder about the ATF's opinion on engraving plastic. Now, if one wanted a TRULY bad azz PDW they'd use a G18. Everything I have is G19's. I'm thinking a G17 or even a G17 longslide and cut the mag well short to accept G19 magazines might be the ticket.

If it was just a vertical grip, then yeah an AOW might go but not a stock. A buttstock makes in an SBR.
-
Anyone here ever SBR'd a Glock? If so, where and how did you do the engraving? I've been debating it for the woman. I've stripped down her AR and she's still not interested in dealing with the weight. Capable, but loses interest because of it. A shoulder stock, stubby verticle grip and a suppressor on a Glock would be super light, compact and hell for stout in the reliability department. Just thinking out loud here :)

Detachable affair or the Chinese star fixed magazine? The Chinese Star fixed magazine was a pretty good set up. I've never had much love for any detachable magazine for the SKS. I wonder if a little material could be removed from the inside edge of the latch to let it move forward a little more? That would give you some more engagement.
-
Pete, the SKS has to have [in my opinion] the most ridiculously complex trigger group of any milsurp out there. I don't know anyone to refer you to, but it ABSOLUTELY worth the money to have a pro do it right. I took one apart years ago. I sold it as a 'spare parts kit' on eBay and had to buy a new trigger group. I screwed it up pretty bad.

While we're waiting on the OP's response, I will share something some of you may not know. I had a Yugo that REFUSED to cycle. Turns out the head space was out of spec. The Simonov rifle headspaces the rear bottom shoulder of the bolt against a square pin pressed into the receiver. And that pin wears, headspace increases. BUT, a square has four sides. Drive the pin out, use a smooth stone to deburr it and reinsert 90 degrees from the way it came out. Now you have a fresh shoulder to headspace on. Maybe you already knew that??

Man's best friend, asset or liability?
Caster replied to Rhodewarrior's topic in Survival and Preparedness
Greg, I told a preacher that once about heaven. You would have thought I had blasphemed the holy spirit, he got bent out of shape 6 ways from sunday. -
What's wrong with it? Ain't much to go wrong that can't be fixed at the kitchen table.

What the heck? I see two things I understand. 'Gun' and 'lead' and something tells me the latter isn't what I'm thinking of. Nice toy man, hope it helps.

Decorative engraving a Glock frame
Caster replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
As far as ugly Glocks go; Has anyone ever been on a job and said, "Hey Hank, check out my new Estwing framing hammer. See the sexy graceful lines, perfectly contoured grip. The fit and finish are superb wouldn't ya say?" No, that never happens. The definition of a perfect tool is one that works EVERY SINGLE TIME you use it. The slogan "Glock Perfection" is in reference to exactly what they are. Tools. Nothing classy or brag worthy, just tools that work every dang time. -
I wonder if he's got some Rolo's in his spare 123 compartments? That's where I keep mine.

Will it be called "Nash Angeles" or "San Franville"??
Caster replied to WindHawk's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
If you ever been around Centenial park, San Franville does seem rather appropriate. -
Good video! I love good cops, Kings to each and every one of em. Hate bad cops, I'll laugh when they get their comeuppance. No one should be immune to being called out for wrong doing. Pope or skid row bum. Cops get to be a touchy subject because of people's ignorant propensity for making blanket statements. Anytime we scrutinize a cops actions, we should be mindful to focus on the officer in question, not the rest of our uniformed men and women. Nice work Fitty.

Confirmed, 300 Blackout WILL run on black powder
Caster replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Black powder from the civil war has been found and is still as safe to use as the day it was made. If it gets wet, it only needs to dry and the clumps broken up. You cannot make black powder unless it's wet when combined. So long as the base components don't separate, it's just fine. As far as a metal container, only a fool would store black powder in a ferrous container in the first place. Brass? Yes. Wood or plastic? Yes. Steel? Hell no. The same cannot be said for nitrocellulose. It most certainly will degrade with time depending on storange conditions, but even then it takes a while unless you just leave out in the sun and rain. I've shot ammo from WWI with no issues. I've seen 45/70 black powder loads fired that were loaded well over a hundred and twenty five years ago. Bang...smoke. -
I'd be inclined to make a shooting rest outta the crate it came in.
